“Right… you won’t know unless you and I get started, will ya? Before we start let me see how ya do against….”

He said, looking around, before getting up and taking his Hakama down and getting ready himself. The boy was lithe, and small… Sanyu thought speed, and out maneuvering his opponent would be the best bet for him… which meant swift, but strong strikes against an opponent, to keep them on their toes.

“I’m not quite fast enough for it, but have you tried the Iaijutsu sword style?”

He said, taking a defensive stance beside Koyo to show him a technique from that style, as he put his hand on his Zanpakuto, drawing the item from his belt in a rather fast motion, so much so it started making small sparks along the blade as it exited the hilt, and he put it back as soon as he quickly slashed a bamboo chute in half.

“It’s a defensive, counter strike type of sword technique, one the requires waiting for the right moment to strike. The right moment, is when your opponent, is juuuuust about to attack you, but you quickly draw your sword faster than your opponent, and slash at them… it’s good when you want to take your opponent by surprise! It could split an opponent in half from the abdomen region if used with enough force, and reiryoku put into the strike, at the right moment.”

He said, before taking another stance and drawing his Zanpakuto once more.

"You should utilize attacking the softer, more tender parts of your opponent, usually in the neck area, or stomach… limbs are sometimes best to remove too, cause you remove those, they won’t be able to return a blow…"

His stance this time made his Zanpakuto stand in front of him, like an extension of his arms, as he made the blade turn on it’s side, then slashed another bamboo dummy, where the blade hit the side of the neck, where an artery could be in an opponent, and slashed downward in a sideways stroke.

“you should always treat the zanpakuto as an extension of yourself, or your body… and your mind. Every Zanpakuto changes and conforms to their wielder anyway, making them that much more unique. Go on Koyo, you try to learn my movements.”

He said, showing more techniques to the guy. When he got those down Sanyu would try to let him attack a real opponent, and see what he could do to himself.

He pulled his Zanpakuto blade free in slow motion. The heaviness and strain it put on his arm weren't new. Slowly his fingers began to coil more firmly around the hilt. It was a strange feeling. He'd been still learning to use his Zanpakuto and its powers. While he was capable of killing hollows and such as he did pass the courses. Swordplay wasn't a strong suit of the youngster. But he'd done well to learn the basics of Zanjutsu.

Listening to the instructions that Komamura-san presented. He wasn't entirely familiar with the style being spoken. Adjusting his blade grip, he brought a diagonal slash down on the dummy's neck. Though he seemed to realize this wouldn't work. Stepping back a moment, he appeared to consider his method. A strike to that side of the neck would meet the collar bone. Which could result in problems depending on the enemy.

Koyo seemed to evaluate the target, the dummy itself, and decide on the best way forward. The first bit of the blade needed to clear the mark entirely. He'd struck a hollow before and gone too far ahead on one occasion. His gaze shifted towards Komamura-san, watching again. Returning to his own target, he adjusted the blade in front of him. It was a defensive style that let someone strike quickly with deadly precision.

He'd done enough gauging, bringing his sword towards his chest. He stopped, so it was held outwardly towards the dummy. Koyo moved forward, bringing the blade down to cut through the dummy's shoulder but only with the last inches of the edge. As it passed through the dummy's body cleanly. His grip would tighten, and he'd stop the blade dead. Using his muscles to perform one more quick slash for the dummy's throat. Trying to cut the dummy's softest part of its body.

He felt the strain on his muscles from performing this task. Stopping his swing and completing another one so sharply was difficult. But it let him try to understand the principal. Koyo backed away from the dummy now. He'd cut both areas in a motion. But was it what Komamura-san was looking for? He'd tried to use the stance shown; he didn't quite have the raw power Komamura-san had.

"I'm not sure if I did that right. I've never heard of the style, to be entirely honest. I learned the basics of Zanjutsu in the academy. " He said softly as he did admit to having some experience with a blade. Koyo wasn't a total novice to swordsmanship. Though the docile child would often seem helpless in this sense. His instructors did say to feel the Zanpakuto as an extension of one's body.

Koyo would try to mimic those movements, using his body's frame to go faster.

The Wolf man shook his head, fut bouncing about as it poked out all over his body. Some of it dropped to the ground as he lifted his tail and walked over to move Koyo's legs and arms, and combat stance, similar to the way Sanyu's father and grandfather had taught him. He moved Koyo's arm to sheathe his own Zanpakuto momentarily, before speaking again.

"Try the first move I showed you, First. I'll push a Dummy toward you, and see if you can decipher the right moment to unsheathe and strike. There's two ways to strike, incapacitate, and kill…"

He said, putting a Hand on his own blade to show Koyo the incapacitation strike, on a dummy, as he partially unsheathed the blade as fast as he could, the butt of the blade slammed hard into the soft bamboo dummy, near the rib cage area, and as it did the Bamboo splintered. Sanyu rubbed, and looked at the dent made by the weapon.

"now that, will knock the air outta your opponent, and shatter some ribs…

He said, getting behind another Dummy. He put his palms firmly on the back of the Dummy, and aimed it toward Koyo.

"Okay, Koyo, here comes a Dummy! Pretend Its a Hollow, here it comes, it's gonna kill you! Take its life before it takes yours!"

He said, giving the Dummy a swift and hard shove.

He had forgotten instructions or a movement. He was still a novice with matters involving the blade. He brought his Zanpakuto sideways in front of him before sheathing it. He watched the technique again; it seemed to quick draw the sword rapidly. Koyo was agile due to his body build, slaying the foe instantly if possible. It seemed like an entirely possible concept when put on paper. The power Komamura-san had wielded was beyond his capabilities. The speed at Komamura-san's command was also superior.

"I apologize; I didn't realize you meant from the sheath. "

He said, acknowledging the failure on his part to understand. He touched the hilt, trying to get a sensation for the technique. The teacher in front of him did things very quickly and effectively. Years of training and practice had been put in. He also was around skilled warriors most of his life. Koyo had no such influences to draw on. Only his own cunning and guile to survive.

As the dummy came forward, he did a quick calculation. With one fluid movement, he brought the sword free. The ribcage was dangerous, but he decided to go with a diagonal slash towards the right shoulder. Bringing the blade towards and hopefully through the dummies body. Koyo could continue attacking from this posture. He didn't use a wide range when moving. He had to acknowledge that it was something new. He was also beginning to accept something. That his past didn't have to define him.

Komamura-san's family had endured tragedies but had remained and grown strong. He was a depiction of moving forward.

Sanyu shook his head again, as Koyo's movement didn't Correlate at all with what Sanyu was trying to teach Koyo. Sanyu watched as the Dummy he pushed at Koyo was too fast for the boy to stop and cut in half in time, at the angle he was trying to slash at it, and he completely missed the Dummy, as his sword was in the air. He'd drawn it quick enough but was apparently not heavy in his attack enough to allow his blade to go completely through, and the dummy would topple over Koyo.

Sanyu would find himself picking the Training dummy up off of Koyo, and trying to hold back a Chuckle.

"Maybe that move is still a bit advanced for you… try it on a couple dummies that can't move… ya require a lot of body strength to… use Zanjutsu. Same with Hakuda, but once you get it down…

He said, wrapping his arm around the Dummy he lifted off of Koyo. He infused his reiryoku into his arm and with a great deal of spiritual and physical force, caused the dummy's head to pop off the neck and fly out like a rocket, where it smacked the wall like a coconut hitting the ground and plopped at the edge of the wall.

"You can do stuff like that…"

He laughed at the distance the dummy's head went and wagged his tail a little.

"come on, work on the technique by trying it on air, and on dummies…"
