The shaking. It almost was enough to make her speak up. Almost. But she was too engrossed in what the psychopath and blonde-haired man were doing than to speak up. But she did worry her head. What was that? Was something going on? But, since neither of the men spoke of the shaking, she didn’t either.
” Since you know what we are going to begin teaching next I’d like for you to take the lead from here on, Yogen. I need to… Check up on things. Aid.”
She raised an eyebrow, stealing a glance at the blond who was named Yogen. He knew what was going to be taught? What did that mean? What was this maggot's nest? Was it something else hidden in the second division that she was going to have to train through? More hardship? She didn’t know if she could handle anything else.
But, she stays silent as Ochitsuki calls over his aid, watched as he silently healed Ochitsuki’s bloodshot eye. Some of the dust must have affected him too. The thought made her feel a little satisfied even though she knew it probably didn’t even really bother the man. And then he moves to open the door, and Himari was thankful she was going to leave this hell of a room. And she prayed she’d never had to enter it again.
She slowly looks back towards the blond, not trusting him yet. Her eyes were cold, wondering. She watched him for a few seconds, looking him over before she spoke again.
” What is it we are doing next? I suppose the maggot’s nest is of importance?”
She asks, folding her arms over her chest. She didn’t know if she liked being shoved from one man to the other for whatever reason and training that was going on, but she had no choice. She didn’t trust him… but she had to follow his lead. She knew nothing of this place. And the start of getting stronger did depend on how she acted from on.

Like himself Utsuro did not have the concept of fear imprinted within her, more than that she lacked any sort of understanding of emotion. This lack of understanding is what likely lead to her doing the worst thing possible, divulging information to Ochitsuki. To beat around the bush is one thing, a half truth here, a half lie there, these are to be expected from those of Second Division but to WILLINGLY tell the truth is another matter all on its own. They are raised to never do such a thing, if an Assassin is caught they are to take their own lives to avoid their secrets being revealed or at most fight until their dying breath. Now this situation isn’t as extreme as that but the teachings should still be there, even when speaking to a fellow Division member or superior.
God of Unease
Silence would have been a better option for the Kuchiki, however it is the blue haired Hoshi who diverts the attention away from Utsuro, even tries putting Ochitsuki in a hard place. This is how the Second Division should respond to such accusations, not a divulgence of truth spewing from the lips. He looks to Oyama and approaches her, leaning down to look directly into her eyes, Furia was in control, if the demeanor and red eyes wasn’t the tell of this then the unshaking hand on the hilt of her blade would be the other tell. He backs away from her, she must be used to his “antics” but this is only the tip of the depraved iceberg that is Ochitsuki Oda. His eyes shift to Utsuro.
”Ut-su-ro Ku-chi-ki. Of all the things you lack curiosity is not one of them, however, you do lack common sense. Offense one, you left your room without an order to do so all based on some notion of curiosity. Offense two, you outed yourself and your accomplice without a second thought, had I been an enemy you would have given me all the info I needed to cover my tracks. Offense three, you understand you acted out of place, meaning you knew beforehand what you were doing was wrong. Return to your room and do not leave it until ordered to do so.”
His eyes look back to Furia, her hand still on her blade.
”Fu-ri-a Ho-shi. Curiosity must be contagious, so much so it makes people blind to what they should be doing. I am already on top of the situation at hand, my focus is to ensure the stability of Second Division is intact, the rest of the Gotei Thirteen can look out for themselves and if not then they are weak. If you crave a story so bad, so desperate for information perhaps Ninth Division would have suited you better, girl. Send out Hell Butterflies to our men in the field, it is more discreet than moving bodies to bodies, is it not?”
He falls silent then looks to her blade then back to her as he turns his back to both of them. Doing such a thing invites death and danger but perhaps Ochitsuki is tempting them, maybe he wants them to try and attack, well Furia at least.
”I am not that weakling who is an Oda in name only, you WILL fear me.”
He turns his head over his shoulder to glance back with his eyes.
”That being said, if you put your hand on that blade you had better be ready to use it. Hot air and empty threats are all you are, girl. This exchange will be reported to the Captain upon his return.”
Ochitsuki begins walking off after facing his head forward. The agents he sent around Second Division to confirm damage return and begin their report to him. Nothing out of the norm as per usual with these quakes, however the magnitude of this one was cause enough for jumpiness and alertness. On a whim he tells them to go investigate the Maggot’s Nest, the surrounding area along with a detailed report on the interior. He lets them know that he himself will be arriving at the Nest in some time as well. With that the Agents make their move and after so many paces if the two women decided not to act Ochitsuki would vanish from sight without a sound, making his way back to his den. Something was off, while this quake may have felt more intense to the others it was more so apparent near Ochitsuki’s den. This trip for Himari’s training to the Maggot’s Nest may double as an investigation as well.

Yogen’s eye twitches as Ochi passes his burdens on to him. His eyes drift over towards Himari, shifting his gaze back to the Oda as he has his subordinate use Kaido to patch up his eye, ridding it of the impurities plaguing his eye. He keeps his face from Himari’s field of vision, hiding his annoyance. Suppressing a disgruntled sigh. Silence acts as a rope binding the two, unmovable, seemingly indestructible until finally it is severed by Himari.
” What is it we are doing next? I suppose the maggot’s nest is of importance?”
Yogen stares at the woman, an incredulous look in his eye. He seemed to have trouble processing what she had just asked him. It wasn’t the fact that she was curious about what they were meant to be doing next, but rather she seemed genuinely oblivious to the nature and existence of the Nest of Maggots. Where before he had tried to hide his annoyance, this time he was no longer able to suppress it.
”You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me. Geez, Ochitsuki you bastard...leaving me with cleanup duty.”
He shook his head, sighing, running his hand over his head. He shuts his eyes tightly to gather himself. It takes a moment before they open once more. Though he isn’t pleased with the addition to his duties, he chocks it up to his bad luck.
”C’mon, follow me. I’ll explain along the way.”
Yogen relents, motioning for Himari to follow him as he seems to venture further into the den of Ochitsuki. His steps guide him further into the darkness. For Himari who believed she was heading out of this horrid place, it might be shocking to see instead they are delving deeper inside.
”Honestly, I can’t believe you don’t even know what the Maggot’s Nest is. You mean you’ve never even heard a rumor? Nothing in the Academy at all?”
He asks, the questions mostly rhetorical in nature. Torches in the distance appear like mere fireflies, it is perhaps a means that would provide solace to the girl who for the longest, has been surrounded by pain and darkness since her arrival into this new place, this division that would become her home.
”To begin with, the Maggot’s Nest is a prison...of sorts. While it's called a prison, those inside are not technically criminals. Beings with too much power, or those with radical thoughts and ideals. Anyone that is considered a ‘dangerous element’ to the Seireitei is secretly taken away and locked away in the nest never to be seen again...well...usually never.”
He explains the last portion he had to slightly amend as he recalls former residents Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Jinnosuke Ueku. Both people who were locked away inside the Nest of Maggots, both who had their release petitioned for by a high ranking member of the Gotei 13. He keeps such matters to himself, there was no point in elaborating on those points for her, she’d eventually come to learn of such things during her tenure with them. That is, if she survived long enough to learn.
”There are over four hundred pressure points, sometimes also referred to as acupuncture or meridian points. Targeting them can help to relieve pain, pressure and aches, can paralyze, harm someone or enhance one’s self.”
The light that appeared like fireflies at one point now instead have grown brighter, allowing Himari to better view her surroundings. She could see the cells as they passed them, see the various skeletons lingering in some cells, the coagulated blood and puss in other cells, and in others they were filled with the weak and malnutritioned bodies of those long since broken, mentally, physically..and spiritually. Yogen, up til now has still not explained what exactly they were meant to be doing in terms of the next stage of her training. Instead he was talking to her about...points on the body?
”As you know, all Shinigami or..rather all Souls within Soul Society that have access to their reiatsu have reiatsu vents that are located in the wrists. The Saketsu is located at the same place where one’s chain of fate would be along with the Hakusui, another point that acts as the source of one’s spiritual power, while the former serves to boost it. Those two points should be located in the same area for Arrancar by the way.”
Their journey feels like quite the lengthy one, at least long enough for this rather long winded discussion taking place. They are nearing a door that lies in the distance. Perhaps Himari was aware of this portion regarding the two important spiritual points on their bodies, then again..perhaps she wasn’t. It still explained very little of what they were going to be doing. He doesn’t seem to be trying to give her even a hint of what was to come, or what she should be expecting. What was the point? Was he trying to spare her? Afraid she’d be too scared to hear? Yogen opens the door as the two pass through it, and unbeknownst to Himari, it is only once they pass that threshold that they’ve entered the Nest of Maggots.
”There are a number of vital areas on the body. The eyes, the corner of the eye sockets, the inner ears, the throat, the carotid artery, the solar plexus, the stomach or bladder, the groin, of course the heart as well-”
Still he continues on about areas on the body. There was no telling how much of this Himari was listening to, let alone how much she was able to retain during this little trek. They approach yet another door, this one guarded. The Onmitsukido agent exchanges a look with Yogen before glancing over to Himari, and then he steps aside. Yogen silently motions for Himari to follow him inside. Venturing through the door they are greeted by the sight of three men garbed in white. Each one remains kneeling on the ground, their wrists bound and restrained. The room is quaint, large enough for just barely all of them to stand and move inside. Yogen doesn’t seem to pay them any mind. Instead moving to a table lined with a variety of sharp tools, varying in size, length and width. There was also a chart that seemed to outline the various points that Yogen had been listing off.
”To be effective in this line of work, you should be familiar with the body. What to target, where to strike, where to cut, where to stab. So, we’re going to get a little practice in, using these three. Start with memorizing this chart a bit, then we will have you target a few pressure points on the first person, before gradually moving on to using the blades and such. Isn’t this nice? You move from being tortured to becoming the tormentor.”
He smiles at Himari, waving his hand over towards the table, letting the impact of what he said land fully on Himari. Himari’s path onto that of being a ruthless killer is pushed further. How far will that attitude serve her?

Screams were all that could be heard outside of the door of the nest of maggots. Screams. Then silence. And then the screaming would be heard again. The very sound would bring a chill down anyone's spine. The screams were painful, helpless. The victim could do nothing against whatever was causing them to scream in pain. It was extremely pitiful.
Inside the room, Himari was busy fighting her mind with what she was doing with said maggot. She has been working on said maggot for almost an hour, focusing on different pressure points on their body.
Now, she could be seen pressing her fingers between the pit of the maggot’s neck and jaw. It was a move she learned would attack the parotid lymph node. From the time, practice, and Yogen’s guidance she knew with the right amount of force and right hand movements, she would bring the man to his knees, screaming again.
This has been going on non-stop since Himari entered the maggots nest with Yogen. He had her train different pressure points on each of the maggots over and over again. Until she got it right.
And finally, after many tries, Himari learned a handle full of pressure points and what they did. And on top of that she also began to learn which ones she enjoyed using.
Himari recalled before they entered the Maggots nest, she followed closely behind Yogen. She didn’t trust the blond-haired man, but she felt more comfortable around him than Ochitsuki. And she was somewhat grateful that she didn’t have to be around the bloodthirsty psychopath any longer.
He led her down a torchlit passageway, somewhere underneath the second division barracks. Himari always knew some divisions had secret passageways. But, it seemed the second used them to their advantage. The Maggots nest being one of them.
She wasn’t shocked at Yogen’s surprise; she didn’t know what the Maggots nest was. She didn’t know many things she should have known. Which is why she was here in the first place. She wanted to be stronger, yes. But to get stronger she needed to learn more about the place around her. The place she wanted to get stronger for.
” To begin with, the Maggot’s Nest is a prison...of sorts. While it's called a prison, those inside are not technically criminals. Beings with too much power, or those with radical thoughts and ideas. Anyone that is considered a ‘dangerous element’ to the Seireitei is secretly taken away and locked away in the nest never to be seen again...well...usually never.”
She nodded. It made sense. The second division was the stealth force. They look for shinigami who broke the law. Or even could be a threat. She wasn’t surprised that they had this type of place.
” There are over four hundred pressure points, sometimes also referred to as acupuncture or meridian points. Targeting them can help to relieve pain, pressure, and aches, can paralyze, harm someone or enhance one’s self.”
As he spoke, the surroundings around them grew brighter. She’d quickly looked around, taking in the cells as they walked. Some filled with people, some filled with bones. Blood could be seen and other types of body liquids. And the smell was enough to make her want to push her hands to her face, but she pushed through it. She didn’t want to seem weak in front of this man. So, she went back to what he was talking about.
” As you know, all Shinigami or..rather all Souls within Soul Society that have access to their reiatsu have reiatsu vents that are located in the wrists. The Saketsu is located at the same place where one’s chain of fate would be along with the Hakusui, another point that acts as the source of one’s spiritual power, while the former serves to boost it. Those two points should be located in the same area for Arrancar by the way.”
She nodded, raising an eyebrow. She recalled thinking why was this so important? They were standing in the middle of a prison? What were pressure points and knowing about where Reistu points were located? She knew this, having wanted to master Kido. She had to learn about the Reistu points.
She was about to speak again, but he beat her to it.
There are a number of vital areas in the body. The eyes, the corner of the eye sockets, the inner ears, the throat, the carotid artery, the solar plexus, the stomach or bladder, the groin, of course, the heart as well-”
As he says this, he would open a door and walk inside. Anger filled Himari. Was he going to keep blabbering about pressure points and not tell her the reason why he brought her here? She remembered gripping her hands in fists but didn’t say anything still. Another door was opened, and Yogen then looked at her and motioned her to follow. She’d glare at him a moment before she moved to walk inside. And then she instantly stopped.
She recalled what made her stop. There, in the room, were three men. All of them kneeling to the ground. Their wrist was bonded, there’s eyes cast to the ground. Her mind instantly went back to the man she killed and she felt sick. Was she going to have to kill someone else? Could she handle that?
She would look around the large room, not wanting to look at the men any longer. But she knew she was going to have to face whatever Yogen threw at her. She was going to have to go against what she knew to get where she wanted to go.
” To be effective in this line of work, you should be familiar with the body.
She recalled he waved his hands towards the table where the chart he jad mentioned would be. She remembered her hands shaking when she finally realized what was happening. She was going to practice on living people… she was going to torture living people.
She was going to have to torture these men as she was. She was going to have to toy with these men. The very thought made her sick.
But
She remembered there was another part of her. The part that wanted to be feared. Wanted to be stronger and was excited for this. How else was she going to learn about where to attack if she didn’t know where? She had to know those things. So what’s better than practicing on a living, breathing, person? There was nothing better.
They could scream. They could whimper. She would be able to know right then what spots were best. Which were effective. And which were quick to use.
So, that’s how she was here. Her fingers dogged deep into a pressure point she knew that if she were to strike with her Zanpaktuo would kill this man.
And once again, the feeling of excitement filled her body.

Yogen stands propped up against the wall, arms folded as he watches Himari at work. There was a cycle of muffled noises, then ear splitting screams of agony, then silence. The torches along the wall flicker and sway, casting its haunting glow over the young man’s face. Eyes stare passively as Himari’s current test subject begins to convulse, veins appearing on his neck, up to his face, down along his forearm as his body jerks while bound in his restraints.
The girl had begun to make some headway. Unlike Ochitsuki who was immersed in his sadistic work, said and explained nothing in his torture of Himari, Yogen took up a different approach. He had the recruit study the charts prepared for her before grabbing one of the prisoners. He had commenced striking and pressing several points on the man’s body, explaining what each point he was striking and the purpose or rather the effects of what would happen when striking said points.
In the beginning her technique was clumsy, hesitant. He’d heard she was inducted by blood when the Captain had her kill a man, but this was different. She was being told and guided to directly cause pain and torment to these helpless souls. Sometimes she’d press and nothing would happen, only for her to be informed that she had missed her mark, other times she applied not enough force, sometimes too much force. The more she tried the more she failed, conversely the more she failed the better and more comfortable she became until her technique became smoother, her movements more controlled and precise. Eventually he hardly needed to interfere to help her.
He could tell she was growing more confident. This training was meant to condition her, as this was an important part of her training, something she needed to know but the purpose behind this was simple. They were solely desensitizing her to the suffering of others. The more she tormented and harmed others, the easier it would become for her to be willing to do so, slowly making her more comfortable around pain and violence.
”Ok, that's enough pressure point practice.”
He tosses a blade to Himari, its tip embedding itself in the ground beside her. To Himari it might have caused her to recall the Captain tossing her a blade to kill the prisoner Ochitsuki had brought. Again on the same day no less, another blade has been tossed to her to be used on a helpless and bound man.
”Time to shift gears a bit. Use the blade, find and knick his arteries. He’ll bleed out fairly quickly but I want you to feel what it means to locate, target and strike those vital areas I spoke about.”
He yawns, remaining propped up against the wall, almost lazily now. He moves to take another step in escorting her down the path of violence and death. There was something empowering about having one’s life in your hands. Himari who has been weak, inexperienced...useless, now finds herself in a position where she is toying with the lives of others. Meanwhile, the agents above have by now, received word that the Captain has returned to the Seireitei, yet instead of returning to the barracks he’s gone to the First Division. Whatever the case, it seems the Captain has finished whatever business he had elsewhere. It was only a matter of time he returned, hopefully by then they’d have something worth reporting to him regarding the task given to them.
