A gentle breeze swept Signy’s hair across her face as she stared blankly at the statues before her. Her heart ached as she took in her father’s image. She’d always been closest with him, but after Shori took over she never got to see him. By the time it was late enough in the day for Signy to run free, everyone else was already asleep. She missed their time spent at their piano and his stories from his homeland. He’d always been proud of her, even when no parent should be proud of their child. None of the bad would ever overshadow the good that dwelled within her, and she would always been little heroine, destined to slay great beasts.
Taking a step toward the statues, the decapitated head of her mother seemed to rattle on the ground for a moment before it flipped over so it was facing her. Signy froze, eyes wide. Deep down she knew she was still subconsciously manipulating it, but that didn’t make it any less bizarre. Curious, she cocked her head to the side but when it’s eyes began to glow, she let out a soft cry and quickly raised her right middle finger to it, sunlight glinting off of her wedding ring.

”Another disappointment on your behalf. Marrying a common criminal!”
Signy’s eyes turned wild. How dare her mother bring Elk into this!? In fact, she had no way of knowing if that was how her mother would have actually reacted to her marriage since she was long gone before Signy and Elk tied the knot. But given how her mother had been while she was growing up, the assumption that she would be displeased by Elk was a fair one. As she took another step toward the sculptures, she felt a hand close around her mouth and another around her waist, pulling her backwards. Panicked, she let out a muffled shriek and clawed at the hands with her nails, trying to slip away from her captor, or at least make it so she’d be able to yell out for the lower seated members of 7th division. Raising her foot in preparation to stop down on the foot of the Shinigami behind her, an act that would easily break many bones in their foot, she attempted to claw their hand away from her mouth once more before they finally spoke.
“Hello my love, I see that you took control of your body.”
Hearing Elk’s voice, she immediately relaxed, letting her fingers gently slide over the red and possibly bloody scratches across his hands. Rather than responding about being in control of her body, she slid her fingers between his that covered her mouth and moved his hand to her cheek. It’d felt like an eternity since she truly felt his skin against hers. When Shori had been in control it’d felt like faint whispers of contact, but now she could enjoy his warmth.
A light blush spread across her cheeks at his question of her being busy. She hadn’t really intended for him to see the statues but there was nothing she could do about it now. As he turned her around to face him, a faint smile stretched across her lips.

It’d been a long time since she’d seen him, and even longer since she’d seen him while he was awake. Raising her hand, she gently stroked her thumb across his cheek before standing on the tips of her toes to press her forehead against his.
”Gods, I’ve missed you!”

That same feeling from before, he remembered it all too well. Unable to keep up with his surroundings, unable to perceive what is happening. Eizoku’s Zanpakuto was truly powerful, but while he had been an unsuspecting victim, he had already familiarized himself with power. Still, he did not expect his comrade to feed him to the wolves. In just seconds, if one could even consider it a second, Arashi and Jizakai find themselves armless, and a deep cut into their gut. They both lay in a pool of their own blood and while Jizakai may have been unconscious, the Captain successfully moves in to detain Eizoku from further sending the supposed team into a fruitless effort against him, Arashi remains, with no change in his expression, no amount of pain or hatred exuding from his person.
He is forced to listen to the disappointment in the Captain’s voice. The scolding he would give them, but none of his words would hold greater merit than his last and final statement before he departs for the Kenpachi games.
” Stand together and rise to victory. Stand divided… and fall.”
How could he forget such a thing? Especially when he was the leading rank during his tenure in Squad 13. Keeping his men alive, making sure they trained each and every day. Cycling through shifts in and out of the World of the Living. Perhaps it was the 100 years of training, standing behind both Captain Yugure and Captain Oda he had forgotten what it truly meant to lead by example, and pull his comrades together against a greater threat. The course of action he had hoped to take against Tenzen before Eizoku had moved with his own agenda is one of selfishness and without any form of cooperation from his peers. Mistakes were made, and it only led to him bleeding out on the wooden floor.
Thankfully, Elk Hoshi had been standing by and managed to get to them quickly, and without hesitation placed them in a barrier before moving to Squad Four.
As they travel…
Immediately they are met by the esteemed members of the Fourth Division, which includes their Captain. However, Junko Izumi, took charge, delivering the two patients to the trauma room for an expedited operation. Arashi lays upon the gurney, and still, his expression is vacant of any pain as if he had grown completely numb to it. Perhaps this had been the case from the amount of blood he had lost, but anyone who knew the Lieutenant from his old days in the Rukongai would know first hand that his tolerance towards pain had always been extremely high, to where he seemingly felt nothing…
The operation begins, first sedating Arashi and of course Jizakai beforehand. Having not dealt with the feeling of pain was beneficial, he could actually fall asleep for a little while they continued their work. The skills of the Fourth Division were nothing to gawk at, as a serious injury this may be was a simple task for these elite medical workers. Captain Nakamoto has trained them well… Before he knew it, Arashi was awake, with his arms completely attached and working. His other wound was mended and healed. Slowly, sitting upward, swinging his legs down from the bed, but remaining seated. He’d look over to Jizakai to see if the young man had awakened. Once he had done so, they would start their departure from Fourth Division and get back to Fifth in order to start their mission into the Dangai just as Eizoku had done.

Though his hand bled he could only help but smile at her, smiling as she stroked his cheek, while not paying attention to the minor injury he was given. His free hand had moved up her hair gently pushing her bangs to the side so he could get a better look at her eyes, to which his smile widened at those golden hues staring back at him.
“I don’t think you’re going to tell me how you got control are you Signy?”
A slight laughter came out from him as he leaned himself back, closing his eyes for a moment to think before opening his eyes back up to look at Signy once more. His smile had only gotten wider he wasn’t too sure what to say as there were times him and her had spent together, but they were far and few in between, he did enjoy her company but was unsure on how they would spend more time together due to Shori and Signy’s scheduling.
“I wonder how long you’ve been in control? It doesn’t matter, I did want to spend some time with you for a while. I’ve gotten to know Shori, but I have rarely gotten my chance to spend my time with you, I think it would be good to know each other.”
His smile persisted as he spoke, his fingers snapped to break Kyokkō revealing the two in the court yard, no doubt startling some members of seventh as they happened to be walking. It was at this moment that he had remember something, that something was his phone as reached into his Shihakusho to pull it out from its pocket, unlocking it to look at the message that Signy had sent then he scrolled through some announcements till he reached the betting portion, then the time that was on the phone.
“we gotta go! I don’t want to miss betting!”
It didn’t take long for Elk to disappear from her sight, to quickly reappear ontop the wall of seventh’s barracks, both hands lifted up and waving directly at her. Some old habbits didn’t die, just buried, Gambling was a thing of his but it seemed to have calmed down quite a bit.
“Lets go!”
Again he would use his shunpo to disappear, traveling along the tops of the walls that stretched across the Seireitei, while excited to see Signy, he wanted to get to the games before they even started, both for a bet, and to have good seats to watch the games, maybe even learn something new.

Letting her hand fall away from his cheek, Signy gently cradled his bleeding hand in hers before pulling the grey fabric that she wore between her left wrist and the large bronze cuff. She turned her eyes away from his only momentarily as she wrapped up his hand. She fidgeted a touch as he began to question her about how she took control and how long she’d been in control. Her nervousness was easily bubbling out of her, but it wasn’t because she didn’t want to tell him, it was because she didn’t know why she was in control again.
”I-I don’t know how I got control. I just woke up one day still in control. It’s been a couple weeks now and Shori hasn’t taken back control. I think it’s because I have a lot to work through, but also there’s been a lot that has happened here in 7th that I don’t think she would have been able to handle.”
She looked back up at him, blushing slightly as she thought about getting to spend time getting to know each other better. Before she could say more, he released Kyokkō, and she chuckled softly at the startled cries of members of 7th that happened to have been walking by. She was certain those shinigami had absolutely no clue who this man was with their 3rd seat, so as he reached into his shihakusho for his phone, she pressed her lips to his cheek, leaving a perfect berry colored kiss print.
“We gotta go! I don’t want to miss betting!”
Rolling her eyes, she pouted as he disappeared, only to reappear on top of the wall. She knew full well that there were some habits of his that she would have to just accept, but she wished he wouldn’t gamble, after all she was the eldest granddaughter of the head of the Hoshi family. Eventually the family would fall under her care and if they gambled away all their money, she would never forgive herself. For a moment she vanished, only to reappear beside him and take hold of his hand as he exclaimed.
”Let’s go!”
As he used his shunpo to travel along the walls, he’d pull her along with him, because otherwise she’d probably fall behind a bit, despite both being experts, her home taught footwork would still hold her back.

Two Weeks Prior
After the urgent matters that subsided at the hospital, Junko and himself spent the rest of the day together getting to know each other since they were going to be spending a lot of time together and working together so it seemed. Based on today's activities just showed how much not only himself but also his new Lt Junko both can handle being under pressure and a short time frame to obtain reports and information. Still aware of the emotions that were rushing through Junko's mind and body he kept a lot of questions hushed for the time. Was it the right time to ask these questions? Could they hold out longer? Was there something he could do to help ease the change of title ship? These were things that rushed through his head while walking with Junko, uncertain on if and when he should ask them... Or was this more a portion of things that will come with time?
ff7171a7ab76e79b56493532beda3841.png

Current Day
Just as Shusuke rushed into the hospital needing attention for his "Broken Wrist" Mizu looked over at Junko just as she smacked his wrist and stated, "I declare you fully healed." This was something that Mizu still couldn't fully understand how they could do with just a blink of an eye. Such technique and art was something that was more on the "Rarity" side for the 4th Division members.
Just as he heard Junko push out the words "Good Luck..." Mizu would offer a very familiar smile to Shusuke and bow in his presence as he saw him take his leave from Junkos office. Even though he wasn't directly in the office with them he was walking past from delivering supplies to each floor for the nurses, he overheard this conversation and decided to not be rude. Right before walking past the room he remembered a nurse advised that his Captain was looking for Junko and himself, so he rushed down to the lobby awaiting the arrival of both. Just as he turned to hear his Captain come in the lobby he felt a quick wisp of air rushing next to him. He looked around as he saw Junko just appear out of no where knowing she was the one who nearly bumped into him although he would've have cared. Looking up at attention he was paying attention to the words spoken from his Captain.
“Team 11 has finished setting up camp in the Rukongai. As planned, you'll join them just outside the North Gate to provide assistance to any of the wounded competitors... This, you already know."
Knowing that the Kenpachi games were about to begin, Mizu wasn't sure if he was going to fight in them but was hoping he was going to use his techniques for triage and healing purposes. Hearing these words come out of his Captains mouth had some sort of calmity to it... Eventhough, knowing that he may not be on the "Battle Field" he was still going to be on a "Healing Battle Field" Its been a basket of chaos over the past few weeks with mysterious Captian deaths to wounds galore he knew that this was only the beginning.
"I've been made aware of a coming excursion to the World of the Living... no doubt they'll request someone among our upper ranks to go with them given the supposed importance of this mission. Prepare for either one of you to answer this call while the other maintains authority of the camp. Whatever comes of it, just... Do your part... and I'll do mine.”
Just as his Captain would say this Mizu started to get a feeling that he knew something terrible was going to happen... He just wasn't sure what. This was something he couldn't let his mind over worry about, this was something more of a "Put in the back of his mind and remember its there" sorta thing. Just as his brought his head back to attention to look at his Captain to respond he looked over just as Junko did to see blue-haired man rushing in with two shinigami accompany directly behind. Overhearing Junko speak,
"Captain, this is my part as well. Please allow us to attend to them so you are not late. I assure you Mizu-kun and I will both be at our stations before the games have started"
Mizu would push down his attire and look directly at both of them,
"Captain, helping heal unknown injuries is just as much as my part as it is both of yours, We will do our best here to figure this out quickly and get to our stations at the games. You've down your part now so let us do ours together. We will see you at the finish line as the winner of the Kenpachi games! Do 4th proud Sir! We both believe in you."
Hoping that he didn't say to much to his Captain or in any manner that he felt or seemed disrespectful. Mizu felt a tug at his elbow as he looked over as Junko reached out and pulled him away as they both hurried off into the distant hallway to the Trauma bays to continue their work before the games.
Mizu4.png

ff7171a7ab76e79b56493532beda3841.png

As both Junko and himself rushed into the Trauma bay he saw both gurneys huddle around each other as nurses surrounded both sides. There was a strange feeling in this room and just the day in general.. "Why are there so many injuries and mysterious deaths and such happened before the most anticipated games?" Mizu thought as he felt the strength of Junkos reiatsu rush through the room. He could sense this was going to be something normal for him going forward working close with Junko. With both patients under sedation, he knew they both didn't have much time to work on the patients before they'd wake up. Still under the shock of how two Shinigamis lost arms at the same time was something puzzling, but never the less he knew he could reattach them quickly without a doubt.
Just as Junko released the protection barrier of both arms he noticed the nurses push our the painkilling Kido they were specialized in. Focusing their reiatsu on the nerve receptors through the crude stubs left of their arms. At the same time, another nurse would focus on halting the flow of blood of both the arms and near the shoulders. Once finished with the painkiller in case Junko's reiastu was fought against, the first would help the other with keeping the two men from bleeding out. With both of them looking at one arm each it was best to begin immediately. Placing the detached arms against the place it was cut, Junko and Mizu would begin with their own Kido. "Chiyudou number forty-eight: Fuka." He would repeat just as Junko was speaking it aloud for him to hear!
Mizu1.png

Focusing his reiatsu on the bone first, a small layer mixed with the fellow Shinigami’s own to bind it back together. Outward, to the tendons. Veins. Muscles. Finally the skin. focusing on the tethers he created between them, encouraging each layer to bind themselves back together. Once finished the process would repeat again for the opposite arm. Without having to concern themselves with painkillers or barriers the nurses were able to supplement reiatsu to the patients. Finally able to relieve his hold and strength. Just as he finished this he noticed Junko stepping over to examine his work.
"Good job, Mizu-kun, we're needed at our assignments. Yui-chan has done this before, please alert her if any changes occur in either of the patients."
Just as Mizu had time to step back and collect what he just did he felt once again Junko pull on his arm and out of the Trauma Bay. As they both rushed out of the hospital and down towards the gates they quickly made haste into the Rukongai and into the medical tent where they will be stationed for the games. Just as he had time to find a chair and sit down in it he heard Junko say "Are you excited yet?" Knowing there are so many unknown possibilities he wasn't entirely sure how to respond. "Uhhh... Honestly, I am extremely excited! But I'm also very concerned for the outcomes and what is about to unfold for us. I just hope our Captain will be okay." He said while holding up his head with his fist. He knew there was something in the air that feels "Off" but he can't entirely pinpoint it. Were the patients he just helped going to make a full recovery? Why were there so many mysterious injuries and a death before the games? Is his Captain going to be okay? Although, he knew these things were future outcomes but current concerns all he could do is make sure he and Junko work hard and quickly together for anything that comes their way during the games.
