Hiroka walks down the path of the dimly lit Dangai, his right arm resting on the handle of his Zanpakuto. He raises his left arm upward taking a look at his Tendoriru o Tanoshimu that was wrapped firmly around his forearm. It wasn't certain if he'd end up using it, but it was certainly a good surprise should he need it. A battle with a Captain, something he had longed for since his arrival within the Gotei 13 following his graduation from the academy. Now a member of the Eleventh, his desire to continue pressing the boundaries of his limits had only grown. Often Hiroka's desire to continue training was due to a bit of insecurity in his current strength. His anger of the past however, pushed away his doubt and gave him the resolve to break through his previous limit of power. This was going to be a test of strength; one that would definitely strain his physical ability but also his mental as well.. It was through this reality that he knew he couldn't go with haphazard strategies. He steels himself as he shakes away his typical temptation for recklessness, approaching the shōji of the Senkaimon.
Taking a quick second to meditate and relax himself, a devilish grin spread across his face as he re-opened his eyes. Excitement was overtaking him, pushing away the nerves that made him overthink the extent of his training. He went forth, brimming with energy and determination, arriving in the place known as the Valley of Screams. His eyes narrowed at the piercing light that overtook him as he stepped into the rather desolate stone-scape. He took in his surroundings, mentally approving the inevitable location of battle, happy to see there was no harm to using Ikarihime at its strongest. Spotting a high plateau, he quickly rushed to the top of it, drawing another deep breath before removing his sword from its scabbard. Normally he'd revel in opening with a display of Hakuda but this was combat with a Captain and wanted to appear as professional as possible. Though, there was nothing really stopping him from mixing Hakuda with the use of his Zanjustu, in fact that was most likely more optimal.
Awaiting the arrival of the leading officer of the Fifth, Hiroka ran a few scenarios through his mind. There's always an unpredictability to combat after all, especially when his opponent’s techniques were unknown to him. This didn’t dissuade him from thinking of at least some plausible uncomfortable events that could transpire, he was in a way his own worst enemy and if anything, this was a nice mental warm up. Despite always thirsting for a stronger opponent to fight, his methods were not often barbaric in nature as some might assume, but instead calculated. He couldn’t deny that there were times when bloodlust set in, but even then that only drew out less restraint during battle. His right hand raised and clutched at the left side of his chest above his Reiatsu seal, the Yūgure no Hiru. It would eventually need to be removed, but before then he did wonder how far he could go with thirty percent of his power. His spiritual pressure was almost always in check and within his control while wearing the patch, though it was wild and destructive when removed. It mainly acted as safeguard for others’ protection from his Reiatsu, but then again, that wasn't needed here.
Despite Hiroka's mind going through varying tactics, he remained vigilant to any sudden movements. His mind was capable of adapting strategies on a whim even in the middle of combat, relying on reflexes alone to preserve himself while formulating a plan of action. He was unfamiliar with the nature of these tests, would the Captain simply strike right out at first sight? Or would there be some form of formality prior to their brawl. Hiroka's body remained rather calm until he caught wind of Tenzen, his hand steadily gripping the hilt of his Zanpakuto ready to defend himself.

Hiroka kept his expression neutral, showing no emotion towards the blonde man. Though he did not know his opponent, he did not wish to hold an aggressive face to his superior. Tentatively he motioned to bow making sure to remain ready for anything just in case.
"Greetings, Captain Oda." Hiroka greeted carefully returning to a cautious posture before the Kidō Corps Commander.. The man seemed to give off a sensation of inner calm, a contrast to his own fiery and ferocious will. "I look forward to our battle. It's an honor to have this opportunity."
Although the meaning of his greeting was sincere, his delivery was not. The excitement within Hiroka was beginning to boil over, the intensity only rivaling his determination in claiming the title of Captain. And with that title, he would be one step closer to pursuing the title of Kenpachi. Although it wasn't a requirement in reaching that goal, this was the path he aspired to follow. Needless to say as well, he did have a general desire to take lead of his division into the future of the Seireitei; especially with the ever present tensions between the factions of the realms.

A letter arrived for Tenzen Oda, one bearing the crest of the First Division. He has seen this once before and he knew it was only a matter of time before another one was in his palms.

Orders from the Captain Commander to test Hiroka Ikari in combat to see if he is worth to don the Haori. Though the Haori he seeks to wear is quite a dangerous one, one that places a target on his back as those in his division may seek to pluck it off his shoulders, should he make it that far that is. The first obstacle the young soul must overcome is the Grand Chief of the Kido Corps who is currently exiting his personal quarters to make his way to the Senkaimon. Typically he would recite the Heart Mantra out loud as he heads into battle but he is oddly silent this time, a vacant look in his eyes as he stares ahead towards the looming Senkaimon gate, on the other end of this gate awaits Hiroka and the Valley of screams. The guardians of the Senkaimon clasp their hands together and begin their prayer opening the gate for their Captain, drawing his Katana as he passes through the Senkaimon. With his blade in his right hand he places his left hand on the back of his neck, his Reiryoku spiking for a moment before settling down.
With a Hell Butterfly fluttering in front of him in the dim Dangai one could miss the moment his vacant eyes come to life. The butterfly reflecting in his dark brown eyes as he achieves a state of oneness with himself, mind, body, and soul all harmoniously synchronized to deal out violence towards the young Hiroka. His prayer was finished, he needed not to recite the mantra out loud, clasp his hands together or count prayer beads. Prayer comes from the heart, exudes through ones very being and so his silent prayer is more than enough to aid in this synchronizing of his form. There is even another part of him that is chomping at the bit for this moment, a part of him that is somewhat synchronized with his train of thought as well. The light at the end of the tunnel begins to shine and illuminate the Dangai, the warm light washing over the Captain as he steps through to the other side, young Hiroka already ready and waiting for his arrival. The exit point for his Senkaimon was in the air, immediately giving himself the high ground advantage over the Eleventh Division member. He plans to treat this boy with the same hospitality Eleventh Division is known for.
Tenzen Arrives
Nothing but hostility is radiating from the Captain at this moment and Hiroka should be able to feel it, he should not feel any sort of comradery from this Oda. He should only feel the hostility and killing intent things that would be normal living within the barracks of Eleventh. For Tenzen this is normal too as his clan is very similar to Eleventh in many ways, it is poetic irony that he would be the one testing the abilities of a Eleventh Division Captain hopeful.
”Greetings, Ca-”
”Seeping crest of tribunity.”

Before the Senkaimon could even close, before Hiroka could even finish speaking Captain Oda is engulfed in an aura of black Reiatsu with a purple outline, the weight of this power causes small rocks and the like to rattle on the ground. Like feedback on a speaker the Reiatsu would reach all the way through the Dangai to the other side causing the Senkaimon guards to feel this violent surge of pressure as well. Staying true to their jobs they closed the gates with all haste, cutting off the Reiatsu and leaving it in the Valley of Screams. For Hiroka this will be no mere test, this will be a bout for his very survival and should he stumble or trip up it will spell the end of his life.

”Seeping crest of tribunity.”
Hiroka's face shifts from a state of neutrality to one that no longer hides behind a mask of formality but instead sheer determination in response to the immediate incantation from the blonde Shinigami. This opponent was not giving any attention to banter, instead going right for an outward assault. The thought of this of course approached his mind, especially given that he was trying to claim the title of the highest ranked member of the squadron of combat specialists. Though this wasn't the highest on the list of his expectations. His Reiatsu flares as a response to the Captain's spell, even in its sealed state it began to crack the ground beneath his feet. If this was how this fight was going to go, then there was no point in wasting time. He placed pressure on his legs and began preparing to jump away with great haste. His body taking to the sky from where he just stood, matching out the plane of which the Captain stood. His arms crossing his torso as he spoke out in a quiet tone.
"Bakuhatsu, Ikarihime."
And with those words the blade shifted and warped to the form of a curved sword with a hook at its tip. Heat emanating from the weapon with a consistently scaling temperature. The air around Ikarihime, as well as Hiroka himself, was surrounded by intense refractions. He swung his arms at the exact moment of the weapon's shift, projecting an arc of a torrid air in the direction of Tenzen. The projectile gathering mass and speed with each meter it spanned halting only a few meters before the Kido Master. Like a match in a room full of gas, the crescent took light, enveloping an area of approximately forty-three meters in a fiery explosion. The shockwave of it drawing the superheated smoke out further from the epicenter, growing the harmful radius of the blast.
Hiroka reaches for the bandages coiled around his left arm, releasing a latch around his wrist, enabling it to be manipulated by spiritual energy. The bandages reach out towards Ikarihime and coils around the hilt of the weapon. He lowers his grip from the weapon to grasp the long cloth, twirling the weapon around his body like one would while using a kusarigama. With each rotation a narrow stream of smoke dragged from the distant explosion to the hungry presence of his Zanpakuto. The blade faintly gaining an orange light as it grew in temperature. The next attack will have more destructive power than the first, something Hiroka was counting on. He has yet to really find the upper limits of his weapon’s explosive capabilities. The Zanpakuto drew its own heat from a vast reservoir, yet breaking beyond that when able to feed on strong sources of heat. And what better than the feedback from its own release.
A battle with a Kido practitioner was certainly one that required an alternative approach from the usual. Where Hiroka is capable of using the ranged abilities of his Zanpakuto, an all out brawl of firepower would certainly not give a large margin of success against a varying arsenal of spells. The gap would have to be closed, but now wasn’t the time. He desires to gauge the initial responses of his opponent. Any sign of delays, favoring of a specific appendage, and patterns stir within the mind of the young Shinigami. His stern face gradually being broken by his eager smile taking over his expression. He couldn't lie to himself, this was exactly what he wanted, a battle with malicious resolve. A battle that could end up in death if one was careless, the only kind that truly mattered in the end. The ultimate test of his growth and even his weaknesses. He carried with him the full intention of blowing this Captain away if given the proper opportunity.

This was interesting, where most would become riddled with panic and rush to stop the casting of this oddly popular spell Hiroka did just the opposite. The boy remained calm, taking to the sky as well to remove the high ground advantage Tenzen would only hold briefly. Even stranger Tenzen did not immediately recite the next verse of the incantation, he watched quietly to see what the captain hopeful had planned to do by putting himself in the air.
"Bakuhatsu, Ikarihime."
He said something in a low tone and considering the result of the spoken words Tenzen confirmed it was not a spell so it must be his Shikai release. The moment the blade changes shape an attack is launched, passively the Kido Chief watches the attack before turning his back to it. He needed not lay eyes on the attack as it approached him since he had prepared for it in advance, well to be precise he prepared for an attack to his back in advance. As he traveled through the Dangai he had fixed the spell to the back of his neck, a deceptive thing to do but surely someone from the Eleventh Division wouldn't think much of it. The explosion is set off a few meters before making contact with the Buddha, the powerful shockwave released from it carried the superheated smoke out as if to engulf the Captain within it. This tactic will find no ground as the countermeasure in place triggers, Millón Escudo (ミジョン・エスクド, Mijon Esukudo; Spanish for "Million Shield"). The shield quickly expands from his neck as the Shockwave and smoke make contact, gathering all of that destructive force down to a single point before releasing it outward and away from Tenzen. With the attack dispersed and only smoke lingering an error had arisen that may have not been foreseen by the young soul that his very own smoke would become a smokescreen for the Captain. With that smokescreen in place he would not be able to see the exact moment his proctor would move.
The next thing he would hear is cloth tearing, the momentum placed within his spinning Zanpakuto caused it to fly off as Tenzen had appeared behind him using his own blade to cut the cloth. To be precise Tenzen didn’t actually cut it; he merely held his Katana in the path of the cloth and used its own momentum to cut it. The blade of the Kido Commander had an odd white glow to it as it carried out this action. With a two sword style one can attack and defend at the same time, when masterfully used it can be quite a deadly combo and the Oda is one such master of the style. A sense of ambidexterity is also achieved when mastering this style as Tenzen had switched his Katana over to his left hand to perform the severing action on the cloth. Within that same breath of him reappearing he uses his quick draw Zanjutsu technique with his right hand paired with another Zanjutsu technique, Onibi (鬼火, Oni Fire). Tenzen’s quickdraw allows him to unsheath and sheath his blade fast enough that one can miss it even if they don’t blink. Typically this is used for slashing attacks, a sweeping arc left to right, down to up, etc. Seeing how it is used in this particular moment, a thrusting motion, it can be said that this movement is even faster than normal. All this combined with the Onibi technique that allows the practitioner to create a large gaping hole in a target when using a thrusting like attack with a blunt weapon. The blunt weapon of choice was the pommel of the Captain’s Wakizashi, the target, Hiroka’s right shoulder. Should this blindingly fast blow land the boy would lose his right arm at the shoulder.
”Arrogant vessel of lunacy.”
The next part of the incantation is spoken and the Reiatsu increases yet again a sign of the spell growing in strength. It is unknown if his opponent knows the incantation for Hado 90, if he does then he may get the sense that this slow methodical chanting may be a countdown of sorts. Will Tenzen finish this incantation and use the intense gravity of Kurohitsugi to crush every bone in his body? Or will Hiroka be able to pull off a stunning display that will halt the Captain’s chant?
