Shinigami
Administrator
Game. Set. Match. That was something Shirogane had been hoping when he put the entire plan into motion, and it would have come to an end. It was a definitive plan, one that's well constructed. Upon unleashing the double kido that held enough power to take the proctor out. Enough energy to devastate the space in the confines of the barrier. It would seem as he feared. Despite the obscurity of his vision due to the debris of dust that surrounded the area. Many other factors that aid Shirogane to know if the battle has won. Unfortunately, the awareness that was an ability that never goes away, never been able to turn on and off like a light switch. It was apart of him like everything else. Both eyes closed shut. And despite what he wished, given all of the efforts of wanting to end it his way. His senses proven that he still breathes. The energy he unleashed didn't go away either, but anyone without this gift easily could be deceived by Maho's presence. Not Shirogane, with the best efforts he manages to remain unharmed? It did more than upset Shirogane that this shinigami didn't go down, but at the same time, he expected as much, calculated even. What he analyzed before came to be, Maho shielded himself, but he did more than that. Something Kuchiki never expected to occur or didn't seem to know anything of it. All of that energy gone. But where? The drastic increase of spiritual power has resided in Maho all of a sudden.
"Bankai?"
Could it be as Shirogane predicted? Did the Captain relyed on Bankai? Some indications prove this was the case, Maho went Bankai to protect himself from the blast. It didn't take long after for a menacing laughter ensued, upon layers of the noise he didn't need his senses to hear this laughter. Was it a sign of him losing his mind? Or was it because he is laughing because he manage to live? Shirogane could see his movements where he shouted.
"Here! Have it back!"
The motion of his arm had come downwards from over his head with force. But nothing picked up on his actions from below except the fact he felt an enormous, overwhelming power above him. There was no in point in looking, and he could feel its presence just cascading over him like an overpowering entity that was staring down at his small body. This feeling could inevitably cause a complete annihilation of the entire area. Sure enough, this was an act of desperation. A move only those who were fed up would pull as their last attempt. At the end of this, Kuchiki would have to commend the Captain for such a display. A compliment he doesn't pass around too often. That is, if he survives. Throughout his life, he persisted, strived for it. He didn't know what to expect, but he wasn't going down alone. He had only one more move to make, and that was performing Idō shifuto (移動シフト; Movement Shift) one last time.
Shirogane wasn't that type to pull a move such as what he was about to do. He could easily use this technique to escape despite the distance of "The End", but this would ensure that if he goes down a Kuchiki, he has taken someone else with him. And performing this last technique, he would shift to the location Captain Maho but appearing directly behind where he would be. Without any real indication, physically nor sound would betray his arrival only that his spiritual signature was there behind him. Before Maho decides to do anything whether he moved already or remain in place where the destruction awaits. Shiro would be there clinging to his back. Arms wrapped around the torso. Surely this was rather embarrassing enough as is. A royal using a low life as a shield? He gave up his pride to survive, no matter how degrading it may be while using the mirror that teleported him within that given location. But to make sure whatever he would end up that the same mirror would provide a reinforced barrier for protection. Would it be enough to hold up? Or did it break? The entire terrain shook with ferocity as a response to the Captain's action. If they were away from the blast, Shirogane would have only the left arm exposed with red substance flowing down the arm. This wound would indicate he took a hit somehow, the leg on the same side would also be torn and exposed. Little would he know that the technique of Maho would follow him to finish the job?
Both eyes fixated on the damage ahead. Where once it deemed safe from this catastrophic demise Shirogane would let go of the Captain. It would seem they both may be able to walk away from this battle with their life. This battle would be over. Shirogane would be spent after his performance but not exhausted. Hypothetically there's a chance neither of them made it out of the range of Maho's wrath. If that was the case, they both could be dead, leaving them both severely disabled beyond saving. Maybe only one of them surviving leaving the victor to stand tall. Either way, in the end for Kuchiki it has never been so much about winning nor losing this battle. Pride. Pride was everything to him, and his pride was not about proving to be a Captain for the Gotei 13. His pride was showing the clan he had what it takes to carry on the name as a TRUE Kuchiki. Deep down, there was nothing better than to display the skills that instilled in him at a young age. Paving the way of the Kuchiki clan to be even more significant and this was just one step closer to doing that. Was self-sacrificing worth it? Would it amount to anything? No. But he would have died fighting a third rate he could respect, despite the difference in status. The Captain has shown him much more than what he could ever expect from filth like him. And for that, he would respect him, even until death.
