Shedding the haori she had used to conceal her weapons as they exited the Maggot's Nest, she let no time pass as she followed behind her superiors. Not to be left behind, not to make them wait. Moving behind the both of them at a respectful distance though not allowing them to get too far ahead of her. As they neared the group of members of other squads that had begun to gather and had roused their attention, she could feel Sakiko slow, moving herself in a position that put her behind Kazumi. Keeping her head forward, her face betrayed no inclination this was a strange scenario. Whether or not these others knew their positions, it could be as simple as the shy woman not wanting to be front and center. Although she was known for her quiet nature, Kazumi was not one to be considered shy by any means, giving her position beside and somewhat behind her Third but in front of her other superior not at all strange, though perhaps a bit rude or pompous. It mattered little if she was viewed this way by the others, she would protect whatever reasons the woman had for choosing the location she had.
As Xiaolin spoke with them she gave a light smile, eyes bouncing from them all as she measured them up, gauging their reiatsu and attempting to discern their reasoning for being here. The word 'traitor' had been heard at one point, though she wasn't sure in what context... Moving herself slightly to appear a bit more broad her lips lifted in an apologetic smile.
"Apologies, all of this running..."
The words leaving her mouth were sincere, though her motives more complex than they appeared. Lifting her arms she pulled the long red ribbon that held her hair in place, holding it softly in her mouth as she continued to measure their surroundings. As her fingers pulled the ribbon away she had used two fingers to undo the tie, other fingers curling into her palm. The subtle signal would be hard for her to miss if her eyes were in that direction. Kazumi did not understand the woman's intentions, but she would try her best to accommodate her.
Hopefully taking any eyes off of Sakiko she smoothed her hair down before carefully tying it back up, giving more of her regrets to the higher ups for being so distracting. Looking between the others with a kind look on her face, it remained unchanged as her back stiffened slightly. It was distant...but something was happening. Resisting the urge to simply run away from her superiors and potentially hurling herself into a dangerous situation she remained calm and still, hoping the ones who stood before them had some sort of answers for them. However, as they spoke, a rumbling beneath her feet captured her attention, a blank look on her face for just a brief flash. Not good.... Hand immediately reaching for her Zanpakuto, the sound of the explosion ripping through the Southern area nearly gave her whiplash as she turned to look, her left arm flashing out in front of Xiaolin in a protective, although useless, reflex. Trapped beneath the earth, unaware of anything happening around them, and now something so huge it hurt her ears to behold. What was happening?
