Quick to the call of his name and title, Captain Oda arrives from the use of Shunpo. He fixes his lips to prepare a question in regards to his reasons for being here, but before he can finish, a hell butterfly moves in to answer and relay a message that would have been given to him by Lieutenant Suta anyway. Arashi maintains his silence, figuring the message would relate to the current situation in Naruki City, and as a response, Captain Oda gestures for him to follow, in which he does so, and quickly. Not too far from the Kido Archives, another of the High Priestess approaches, having received the same information? Indeed, she mentions it, but of course, Captain Oda is quick to let her know of receiving just before her arrival.
Further orders are given, to assist Kiku and company in their endeavors. Will things change as far as his own orders go? Will Arashi be sent out into the World of the Living to help? While he would not shy away from the job, let alone the opportunity to operate as he once did back in Squad 13, he still had that other problem he needed to take care of. That also goes for Tenzen, and Lieutenant Yugure as well. He understood the mental fortitude of Captain Oda, and that his calmness is one of the cornerstones that keeps his counterpart at bay, but everyone has their limits, everyone has their moment of, release...
Regardless, Lieutenant Suta maintains a sense of confidence in Captain Oda’s well-being, and soon his superior directs his attention towards him. His head rose a little, to show his focus and that he had his undivided attention, all though his eyes remained as they always had, closed.
” Whatever orders were given to you in the Lieutenant’s meeting continue to carry them out, without fail. Priestess, have that team meet me at the Senkaimon as soon as possible. If all things go as planned I will have my request granted and this little Arrancar excursion will be put down."
A sense of dissatisfaction lingers. He was ready, prepared to venture out again, despite the last time he embarked onto the living world. Perhaps even days after, when he was still a member of Squad 13, he would have gone back, he would’ve fought knowing that his life could be taken… However, he also had to take into account his own Hollow, having yet to finalize far more control over it than he has now. It would only cause more problems, but even with this knowledge, he’d have to manage-
or die trying…
" If not be on standby for deployment Lt. Suta should they choose to send you instead of me. I know this may interfere with your duties the Head Lieutenant has given you but this is not something we can so easily ignore. Hollows must not come to possess such an artifact. That is all.”
”Yes sir,”
he replies, short and swiftly.
With his order still intact, capable of being accomplished, he’d keep the chance of venturing through the Senkaimon in the back of his head. He’d need to make sure that his forces for the Rukongai and Himari’s transportation were well handled and could complete their task without fail, as Captain Oda would like. With his departure, via swift Shunpo, Arashi uses the same, quickly arriving towards the center of HQ. There, stands two teams-
The Rukongai group consists of 5 High Priestess, 5 of the Kido Corps BlueCoats, and lastly 40 of the regular Kido Corps members in their traditional black and khaki garments.
As for Himari’s team, she’d be accompanied by 10 of the regular members of the Kido Corps, 5 BlueCoats, and 2 of the High Priestess… With the God-King’s finger placed in a transparent box, wrapped in a special sealing cloth, furthermore, encased in a Kido barrier generated by the two High Priestesses and fortified with spiritual energy by every single member in the group, the package should arrive with little to no issue.
He studies each Group, making sure everything is in order before they can move to complete their assigned mission. With a team already en route to the Senkaimon at the request of his Captain, it is one less thing he had to do, and with that, he speaks.
” Let’s move.”
The Gates to the Kido Corps open, and first to exit is the package that Himari must deliver to her designated locations. Secondly, Arashi’s squad exits, along with himself.
” Himari, handle this as swiftly as possible and rendezvous with me and Takashi in the Rukongai. I am counting on your success. You are dismissed.”
Without pause, without a chance for her reply, he and his team move out, leaving in a sudden and abrupt use of Shunpo. The Kido Corps doors close shut and guarded fiercely. As Arashi travels with his team in heavy numbers, he couldn’t help but think about what Captain Oda was doing within the Archives. Being the Kido Chief, the commander, he figured he had every last bit of knowledge that could be found down there. So why revisit, despite the chance to refresh and go over the basics again? A Question that will have to be saved for later...

The young girl paced back and front in front of the guarded door, walking right then she would pause, glance at the door that was before her, frown and then walk the other direction. Her annoyance had slowly subsided since the Lieutenant had walked behind those doors to speak to their captain, but she was still a little hurt that even her captain had orders to not let her in.
”I am sure he has his reasons, the captain was smart. And Arashi was indeed their Lieutenant. It only made sense for him to be the only one allowed in.
But she couldn’t help but feel a little sad about this. She tried not to let her mind go to the negative, how she was still ashamed of the fact she ran from a very important mission. How she hasn’t really done much for her squad since then. And, even though she was sure their captain didn’t mean to do this….It still made her feel small having her wait out here while Arashi was inside. Small, like an insect.
Sigh
She stopped her pacing, her red and gray eyes turning to the door once again, her arms crossed her chest. She wondered what Captain Oda had summoned Arashi for in the first place. She never really knew what was happening between them, and the last time this happened she was set off with Arashi to the Rukon district…
She was about to start pacing again when she sensed Arash’s spiritual pressure on the move again. The meeting must be over now. She quickly turned towards the door again, just in time for her to see Arashi exit the building with more men then he had walked in with of course. Twenty men in total were with him, which made her raise her eyebrows.
”Himari, handle this as swiftly as possible and rendezvous with me and Takashi in the Rukon. I am counting on your success. You’re dismissed.
Swift and direct as usual. Left her no time to ask what he was called for. He left then, not saying anything else. It angered her for a few minutes, making her glare after him in the empty Gates of the Kido Corps. But, she had to move. She had to do this….not just for her squad but for herself too. She had to show she was capable. Not just some scary girl.
She had to bring the finger to the 12th division without fail. This was going to be the first time she was going to be alone. It was nerve wrecking. But Still…
The blue haired girl turned towards the gates, took a breath and quickly used Shunpo out of the head quarters. She had to do this, even if she was afraid.

With the ceremony over, the members of the Second Division all stand gathered within the main grounds of their barracks, per their Captain’s orders. With the respect paid to those fallen in the line of duty they are lost to what else their Captain expects of them. They stand in an orderly fashion, every man and woman lined up with one another, evenly spaced apart. While their minds race questioning what is going on, their bodies remain otherwise still, not a soul daring to move. Were they preparing for a mission? Was there something important transpiring that demanded maybe their intervention or a change in structure? Dozens of questions, theories and assumptions surfaced, scattered through the field of shinigami and agents of the Onmitsukido.
Minutes pass by slowly, the Seireitei is currently like a nest or hive, people hectically and frantically rushing to address any number of prevalent issues rising up. The Rukongai was facing yet another crisis, the many districts a magnet for disaster and destruction, while Shinigami rush towards the World of the Living — rushing to offer aid to the cities that have yet to recover from the last invasion, only to be met with another. With all that is happening it is perhaps the Second Division which is the only one that seems to be standing still completely. Its gates closed, cutting them off from their neighbors and the rest of the Seireitei itself. It isn't until nearly an hour has passed, that Kyomu finally steps out, his Lieutenant not far behind him. He stands before his subordinates, a sea of black as far as his eyes could see, and beyond even that.
His eyes scan over the crowded grounds, impossible to tell if he was searching or inspecting.
”As you have seen from the memorials...we have suffered great loss as of late...”
The Captain begins to speak, his tone is nearly soft — was he continuing from where he had left off during the service? Perhaps it was too painful to continue speaking while faced with the graves of the fallen, perhaps he needed a change in venue to proceed on. Maybe Kyomu wasn’t as heartless as he was painted to be.
”And today, we shall suffer even more loss.”
His tone suddenly shifts, growing colder and sharper. Several dozen shadows dart along the barrack walls and rooftops, surrounding the grounds. Individuals dressed in black with dark skin and blonde hair — members of the Mukuro Clan. They stand motionless, lifeless...heartless, like dolls. The once still and trained agents begin to move, turning to look at the clan of killers surrounding them. What was the meaning of this?
”We have grown stagnant, complacent, soft...weak. This weakness is a cancer, one that will be expunged today.”
Their Captain’s words continue to confuse them, as if he spoke in riddles. The feeling of dread continued to fill the barracks, slowly submerging them beneath its weight, drowning and choking each individual.
”I order you all...to kill each other. You will struggle and fight for your survival, I will rebuild and restructure our Division from those who survive. Those you see around you will ensure that no one leaves the barrack grounds, and that no one outside enters or intervenes. They will automatically kill anyone who attempts to escape.”
Automatically, he spoke of his fellow clansman as if they were automatons rather than people born of flesh and blood, objects created and programmed for a single purpose and functioning solely to fulfill their programming. That’s exactly what the Mukuro were...objects, heartless machines...killers.
A terrifying silence consumes them. They had their orders, yet no one could move, no one dared to. They were perplexed by their Captain’s words, standing frozen in disbelief. The Captain was tough yes, harsh even, but what he was asking them to do was beyond even his callous nature...wasn’t it?
”Captain..”
A single man, a single nameless cog in the machine that was Second Division finds the courage to speak — or rather fear and confusion had driven him mad, and in his madness he speaks out of turn, without permission or acknowledgment from his Captain.
”You can’t be serious. I know things have been tough but asking us to-”
One moment the man is speaking, the next there is silence, a silence that lasts only for a moment. The sound of strained gurgling followed by a heavy thud, drawing the eyes of those surrounding the courageous soldier.
30161b7931092db75d335b79c1e5eb8e.png

A headless corpse lays kneeling on the ground as if seeking penance, blood spurting from the place his head once rested. Above, standing above the barracks walls was one of the many members of the Mukuro clan set to guard the gates from those seeking to enter and those souls inside attempting to exit. His arm stretched out, hand dangling the head of the former member of the Phantom’s division.
”I won't repeat myself. You’ll fight each other to the death..or you’ll all die today.”
The Phantom presses the severity of their situation once more, and it isn’t until he has finished speaking that his clansman releases the head, dropping the decapitated skull onto the crowded grounds. The act incites the crowd, ringing the proverbial bell as they instinctively draw their blades, turning on one another. The barrack’s grounds descends into madness and bloodshed, the sound of steel clashing with steel, screams and cries begin to fill the air, soon becoming easily heard beyond their walls.
Kyomu had been patient throughout these months, no..he had been weak. His weakness has caused him to become complacent, and it is this complacency that is reflected in the failures of his squad. He’d tolerate weakness no further, not from him..or his squad. They’d become the best Stealth Force in the history of the Seireitei
Even if it killed them

The trek back to the main grounds was silent once respects were paid to the departed. Yasu had followed her captain while the rest had gathered in a specific area, waiting on orders, while around them, the shinigami of other divisions and the souls of the Rukongai was moving in a frenzy to respond to the chaos that calls them. In their own little world, the Second Division would be tending to their own discrepancies, their barracks tightly shut and stashed away from the rest of the Soul Society. It had been some time that both she and her captain had been together before they joined the rest of the Onmitsukido residents and the others. Observing her captain, Yasu watches from the corner of her eye as he scans over the black horizon before addressing his party.
“As you have seen from the memorials...we have suffered great loss as of late...”
There is a gentleness in his tone, and if she hadn’t known any better, Yasu would have believed him to be so utterly kind. However, decades of moving under this man’s hand, every order, every mission, every instance had Yasu numb to most of his antics.
“And today, we shall suffer even more loss.”
Yasu turns to see the confusion laced in the expressions of those before her, but she can only watch in silence. Bodies begin to surround them, from the walls to the rooftops, to the grounds of the barracks, corralling the members of the Second Division like cattle. Members with golden blond hair and those empty amber hues. The familiar sense of death that lingers around her own Captain was what exuded off of them. During her time in the Mukuro Clan Compound, Yasu had sparingly seen a few of these ghosts out of the corner of her eye, but only for a split second, and she had figured she’d gone crazy in there.
“We have grown stagnant, complacent, soft...weak. This weakness is a cancer, one that will be expunged today.”
The lieutenant watches on, her hands behind her back as the crowd begins to grow restless. Kyomu continues, laying out his plans that involved each individual that stood before them.
“I order you all...to kill each other. You will struggle and fight for your survival, I will rebuild and restructure our Division from those who survive. Those you see around you will ensure that no one leaves the barrack grounds and that no one outside enters or intervenes. They will automatically kill anyone who attempts to escape.”
There is silence… And rightfully so. Surely many would think of his orders to be ludicrous, but for one to actually step up and speak so freely, Yasu tilted her head at the single anomaly as he spoke of his concerns, only to be silenced before any more could spill from his lips. Beheaded in one fell swoop, Yasu watched as the body fell to its knees and the blood began to spray from the cusp of its neck like a fountain.
Like clockwork, the members of the Second Division had fallen in line and carried out the orders of superiors, comrade turning on comrade, taking out the weak, and claiming their own place. Yasu does not move to join the fray. She briefly imagines the sight of what would have happened to Kazumi had she stayed, how Sakiko would have perished here, if not for the untimely demise within the Rukongai, and perhaps if Xiaolin would have paid for his mistakes here, instead of succumbing to his injuries in the Maggot’s Nest. Red painted the green grass and the gray cobblestone paths; the cries of those who perished in the dark pursuit of survival of the fittest fill the barracks if only for a moment.
21d51f480e1c40fa3efa218ea168083d.png

“Taichou...”
Even amongst the violence, Yasu’s voice is quiet, but surely in all of this chaos, her captain would be able to hear her.
“I want to thank you for teaching me everything I know. This may not be the best time, but I’m sure that if it doesn’t come out now, I don’t know when I’ll be able to face you in the future.”
She turns to look at him, her expression completely serious. Since her release from the Twelfth Division, the thought of leaving the Second Division had crossed her mind plenty of times. She’d been the subject of her captain’s discrepancies and had troubled him more times than she could count on both hands. Yasu had hoped to speak to him more privately about the subject, especially after completing her mission in the Rukongai, but as fate would have it, she had once again caused him concern.
“I will be taking my leave from your care and test for Captaincy. Things have changed, and I can’t exactly have you worrying about me all the time anymore… My actions can’t keep hindering you, and I knew that I would have to eventually grow up sometime.”
Yasu turns to face him, placing her hands in a folded fashion that bodes respect to her mentor for several decades, one that had put plenty of time and effort into raising her to become what she was today. While his methods would look uncouth to most, Yasu had learned to appreciate that everything he did was for the better of her, even at the chance of breaking his own mask. Her hands tremble as she faces him, the doubt in her mind wanting to keep her from stepping out of her comfort zone and stay safely where she had always been: at his side.
“Please accept my resignation and wish me well on the rest of my journey. I hope to face you again, but as equals rather than a captain and subordinate.”
He had wanted the best of the Stealth Force, and she would assist him by removing herself. Though he may not see it as she would, it would hopefully be fine, and they would eventually meet once more in another setting.

Standing in uniformed silence with the rest of his Division they waited to be addressed by their Captain. Ochitsuki waited with anticipation for what was to come as he too took notice of what was going on in the Soul Society, distant explosions going off in the Rukongai… again. He wonders what it was this time that could be disrupting the Rukongai but before he could put any more thought into it his Captain emerges. He gives him his full attention and is ready to cling onto every word he says.
”As you have seen from the memorials...we have suffered great loss as of late… And today, we shall suffer even more loss.”
The boy’s heart skips a beat, is this excitement? The shift in tone is more favorable to him as it’s foreboding nature means something sinister is to follow. Something then takes his attention off of the Captain, shadowy figures darting around on the rooftops and walls of the Division. His stance changes to one of readiness and yet his heart still pounds with excitement. Their features are similar to Kyomu, the dark skin and blonde hair, are they perhaps related to him? Outside of his own Clan he doesn’t know much about the others, aside for the names and very basic descriptions of what they are. Kuchiki are snobs, Shihōin have ties to the Onmitsukidō, and Mukuro are killers.
”We have grown stagnant, complacent, soft...weak. This weakness is a cancer, one that will be expunged today. I order you all...to kill each other. You will struggle and fight for your survival, I will rebuild and restructure our Division from those who survive. Those you see around you will ensure that no one leaves the barrack grounds, and that no one outside enters or intervenes. They will automatically kill anyone who attempts to escape.”
Awakening
Confusion rang out among the Division as one unfortunate soul stepped forward to question the order only to be swiftly beheaded by one of the Mukuro Clan. Before everyone got the message through their heads, before they started reacting, Ochitsuki was going through a change mentally. Something had been triggered, this unquenchable thirst for blood and violence suddenly swelled up within him. Eyes glazed over as if something else had taken hold over him as he dropped to the ground, drawing his blade and swiftly spinning in a circle removing a leg or two from those around him. This does not kill them but it gives him room to breath so that he isn’t surrounded. Leaping forward he latches himself onto the back of the man in front of him, using his Wakizashi to slit his throat and then pulls on the man's head forcing his body to turn to the left. Blood from the throat wound sprays into the faces and eyes of those in its path. Blinded and confused they lunge forward with their blades, slashing and stabbing at the man Ochi had killed.
"Feast upon the Heavens, Saryū"
Blinded and raging with adrenaline they never hear the Shikai release from the boy nor would they see the black needles flying towards their temples. The bloodlusted screaming would halt as they collapse to the ground, the black needles turning back into black sand and like dust caught in the wind flow back to the boy’s blackened blade. He stays low to the ground, avoiding any sort of trampling beneath the feet of the battlefield. His “Scuttling Style” lent itself well to his size and maneuverability along with keeping him out of sight for the most part. Men would drop at random, their legs severed at the shin followed by a blackened blade being plunged into their skull. One Onmitsukidō member caught sight of Ochi and rushed in to kill him while his back was turned, he had to lower his center of gravity to even attempt a good strike on the boy since he was still scuttering about. The Oda would hold his blade in his mouth in order to use both hands so that he could launch himself backwards towards the man before he was in a position to strike. After launching himself his body would rotate so that he lands on his back, sliding between his attackers legs but not before kicking him in the groin as hard as he can. While the kick didn’t kill him it was as if life left the man’s eyes, dropping his blade and grabbing himself before falling over unconscious.
Gokan Kakusei (五感覚醒, 5 Senses awakening) is a strange animalistic sense Ochitsuki developed due to his lack of spiritual sense. With it he was able to feel the killing intent of this man with his back turned along with the noise and chaos of the fighting around him. Down and unable to defend himself Ochitsuki walks over to him and begins stabbing him in the head multiple times before scuttering off into the sea masked individuals. Maiming then killing those along the way he moves towards what he considers to be the front of the battlefield, namely Kyomu’s direction. He manages to break away from the blood bath, covered in blood and sporting some new blade wounds he points his blade at Kyomu. The innocent grin of a child having the time of his life is on the face of Ochitsuki, it is unknown if he is declaring a challenge to the Captain or thanking him, not even he knows, but something drove him to do this. He turns away and rushes back into the crowd to continue spilling blood in the name of Captain Mukuro.
