Northeast Seireitei ———————————— traveling to ———————————— Southeast Seireitei
Having woken up really not that long ago, things were already so hectic. The chaos caused by the infighting of Shinigami and the Garganta spilling into Soul Society was extremely bad timing, either that or very good planning; but if that were the case, who was doing the planning? Sadly there was no time to worry about baseless ideas and theories under the current situation, having to transport a supposed criminal to the Maggots Nest, but due to the current circumstances that spurred the baseless ideas, time may be of the essence. Looking ahead at Shusuke only furthered that thought, seeing their commanding officer move with such speed and grace that if Sora had let his mind wander for too long, he may well have started falling behind. Luckily it seemed that Shusuke was not trying to outpace anyone, easily keeping formation and pace while Sora saw the need to push just a little harder and move a little faster.
”Were nearing the Maggots Nest. I assume this is your first time here respectively so I’m going to go over a set of rules you’ll need to abide by; First, no Zanpakuto under any circumstance. Upon our arrival, you are to remove Enso’s blade from his possession and hand it to the Detention Unit staff. Secondly, so long as we are here you will not utilize your own Zanpakuto out of courtesy. People within the unit take this shit very seriously so you better be paying attention at all times. Lastly, neither of you are to speak unless spoken to directly from an officer. Do I make myself clear?”
As the tree line that hid the entrance to the maggots nest grew closer, Shusuke had made sure to inform them of the strict rules that needed to be followed when they finally arrived. Though most of it was emphasizing the need to remove Enso’s weapon after arrival and to make sure to keep our own Zanpajuto sheathed at all times, removing Enso’s weapon being the more obvious route and honestly they probably should have already done this, though the kido that bound him should suffice until they finally stop moving. Neither did Sora have any intention of speaking unless spoken to, as Shusuke had seen all that Sora had and then some, having arrived on the scene long before Sora ever arrived; it would be obvious that Shu had more information and experience, Sora and Hidaeki were more supposed to assist and help to ensure this whole situation goes as smoothly as possible. This was however a learning experience for them; how to work with 2nd Division and the Maggots Nest when dealing with a priority suspect in the future, a new kido to learn in hopes to create better success in apprehending targets, and to fulfil one of the many duties of our squad even in dire situations; all important lessons and if not been for the presence of so many shinigami at the time, ensuring Enso’s cooperation and capture could have gotten much more difficult.
Just a few seconds after Shusuke’s arrival, Sora would place his feet firmly on the ground at the entrance to the nest some few feet behind their squad leader, his hand placed on the back of Enso’s left shoulder. Keeping his eyes on the captive's arms and hands which should still be bound in front of him, but it was better to stay alert, as Sora reached for the Zanapkuto at Enso’s side as they were instructed. After removing it from the man's possession, Sora moved forward just off to Shusuke’s left side as he held out the confiscated weapon by the center of its scabbard, handing it over to the nearest staff member that would take it from him before stepping back where he had been original, behind Enso.
Although listening to Shusuke and the members of the Omnitsukido converse with each other over the matter at hand and knowing he needed to stay focused, he couldn’t help but wonder how those who were able to act on the Garganta were doing and what they had discovered, even more so than that, however, he worried about those common folk in the Rukongai and how they were handling the situation. If the Garganta was meant to let something in, then it would be large enough to let hoards of hollows through, and only a shinigami would be able to help ensure their safety. After this whole situation had ended, instead of heading to the front lines, Sora planned to make his way to Rukongai and help the efforts of escorting people out of the immediate area; hoping that Shusuke and the others wouldn’t require his assistance in the immediate future.

As a shinigami, one is often expected to lose their life in the line of duty at any given time. Hollows, Arrancar, Quincy — the Gotei 13 is surrounded by and pitted against foreign enemies. Its trying times when the dangers are domestic, when the enemies walk, talk, dress and look like you. Feelings undoubtedly shared by those cut down by their peers, both past...and present. Word had reached Second Division to expect the arrival of Third Seat Shusuke Kiyoshi of the Sixth Division, along with his subordinates, and a special package meant to be delivered into the care of the Omnitsukido. Since then, in the absence of both their Captain and their Lieutenant, preparations had been made for their arrival. When hearing the news of Lieutenant Yasu being at ground zero within the 77th District of the Rukongai, the intensity of the barracks only further increased. Was the Lieutenant alright? If anything happened to her, how would their Captain react? They dare not imagine, or rather they couldn't imagine what would happen. They sharpened their focus, every man and woman doing anything to ensure they were not idle.
As if eager to rid himself of his recently acquired burden, Third Seat Kiyoshi, former member of the Second Division and Omnitsukido rushes through foregoing formalities. He takes care to keep his path veered from the living and working quarters of the Division, his steps taking him towards more rural ground. Buildings became smaller and more scarce as he and his party ventured further, deeper distancing themselves further away from the many structures housing the division members. Trees grew tall and heavy, casting the area in perpetual shadow.
”Were nearing the Maggots Nest. I assume this is your first time here respectively so I’m going to go over a set of rules you’ll need to abide by; First, no Zanpakuto under any circumstance. Upon our arrival you are to remove Enso’s blade from his possession and hand it to the Detention Unit staff. Secondly, so long as we are here you will not utilize your own Zanpakuto out of courtesy. People within the unit take this shit very seriously so you better be paying attention at all times. Lastly, neither of you are to speak unless spoken to directly from an officer. Do I make myself clear?”
Shusuke warns and instructs his young charges. Its clear that he is familiar with the procedures and protocol of the Maggots nest, something that may perhaps reassure them. When he speaks, it is loud enough for those following him to hear, but they are not the only ones listening, watching or following.

Slowing his gait, Shusuke approaches the massive reinforced steel door, a guard pitted on either side. Clad in black and frozen in place, they almost seemed to disappear in the shadow cast down behind them. Aside from the agents stationed by the door, there was Kazumi Fujioka standing in wait, several guards behind her, equally as statuesque as those fixed beside the door. In a single display of shunpo, the Kiyoshi abruptly appears two feet from the entrance to the nest. Despite his spontaneous appearance, the Omnitsukido agents at the door, as well as those staged behind Kazumi do not flinch, do not move, do not react at all. Their masks veiling their identity, hiding even their gaze from their "guests", they silently observe. It isn't until his subordinates arrive with their prisoner does Shusuke chooses to finally address those who had been waiting for him.
”Shusuke Kiyoshi, Third seat of the Sixth Division. By now you must have been informed of my arrival from a superior. I have a potential suspect in a triple homicide situation that took place within the barracks of the Seventh Division. I was given word that our arrival was to be expected.”
Formalities previously foregone when stepping foot into the barracks of the Second Division, are now presented when faced with the keepers of the Nest of Maggots. Shusuke turns and nods his head towards Sora Yoshima, signaling him to proceed. Sora in response, secures his hold on the prisoner, his free hand taking hold of Enso's zanpakuto and removing it from his side.

"So, this is Enso Aikawa. Your suspect, your monster you'd have us cage."
A voice, cold and low comes from behind Sora. The man to whom the voice belongs to concurrently appears, soundlessly, with neither sign nor alarm. Its certain that the man had not been present amongst the guards during Shisuke, Sora and Enso's approach, nor was there any hint of his reiatsu. It was as if the man had spontaneously manifested while at the same time, having been present beside them all along. The strange masked man clad in black relieved Sora of both Enso's Zanpakuto and Enso himself. He grips Enso by his shihakusho, and escorts him past Shusuke to stand before Kazumi. He releases his hold on Enso, and raises the taken blade.
"Another maggot to join the nest."
He declares, a guard on cue steps forward to grab the blade. The strange man turns his back to Kazumi to face Shusuke, and as if on cue the guards behind the former fourth seat move in unison to surround both Enso and Kazumi. Facing Shusuke, it is impossible for the Third Seated Officer to identify the man before him by face, voice or reiatsu. The masked shadow approaches.

"You understand, by bringing him here to us instead of one of your own holding cells, that whatever your investigation unveils...good or bad is meaningless to him now." He pauses only briefly, not truly expecting a retort. "Yes...of course you know. The Kido that you've cast on him, undo it. He's in our care now."
Yes, while it is impossible for Shusuke to identify or recognize this nameless enigmatic man, he speaks with a slight air of familiarity. Towards the Kiyoshi male. Unfamiliar with the particular spell cast on Enso, he is still well aware that there is Kido being used to bind the prisoner. The shadow does not address Sora, he does not directly address Kazumi beyond declaring the securing of their prisoner, nor does he do anything to hint to the presence of the young Oda watching and eavesdropping within the tree above the entrance to the Nest. By bringing Enso to this pit of despair, innocent or guilty, Shusuke had condemned the instructor to a life of incarceration.

Southeast ———————————— arriving from ———————————— Central
His movements are quick. Time was everything and with the situation at hand, Enji needed to make use of every second he had in order to get the following information from his lieutenant to Shusuke Kiyoshi. It had been a bit since he’d moved in such a hurry. Life would be a bit dull had it not been for his Squad Leader always keeping him and his mates on their toes. If not for her, their patrols would be spent rather lifelessly as gatekeepers. As he reaches the doors of the Second Division Barracks, two members appear before him. He holds up his hand and states that he is merely here for Shusuke Kiyoshi.
“My name is Enji Aikawa. Under Head Lieutenant Oki’s order, I am here to retrieve Shusuke Kiyoshi immediately.”
The two members give one another a glance.
“We will inform him of your arrival and bring him here. Stay your hand.”
One of the two individuals has gone without a sound in order to fulfill the elder Aikawa’s order. Breaking through the hidden path, the fellow second division shinigami would come into the clearing and find the handling of Enso Aikawa and the Sixth Division coming to a close. As it would hardly need any heavy expense and effort, the sight of his superiors wouldn’t ease him, but at least would assure the efficiency in their performance in handling these situations without their captain or lieutenant.
Just as the faceless individual that spoke to Shusuke, he’d arrived and settled just a few strides behind the Sixth Division party and dropped down onto a knee as he addressed them.

“Third Seat, Shusuke Kiyoshi. You have been summoned by Head Lieutenant Oki of the First Division. Your escort is awaiting you at the barrack doors. Finish accordingly.”
A short nod bids his farewell and at Shusuke’s movement he would part with him and guide him to Enji. He had no information to give had he asked. He would have to wait until he met the guardsman to ask whatever may be on his mind. Upon arrival, Enji’s face would be stuck in a stoic expression. Upon receiving Shusuke, the two would convene at what he would hope was a safe distance away before relaying the information given to him from his lieutenant.
The Central 46 were dead, and Shusuke was to take over and inform the preceding members' families whilst gathering the new members to remake the Central 46 once more. The First Division was gathering their information and performing dutifully; it was now Shusuke’s turn, even if he had been stuck with prior incidents. This was of the utmost importance, and to defy the orders of Honoka Oki would result in the worst possible outcome. Time was of the essence, but so was efficiency.

In the eyes of theBengoshi, anyone seen or caught performing an act of suspicious or illegal activity must be apprehended and tried in the eyes of the law. The duties and responsibilities that come along with the title of adjudicator and the divisional mission to uphold a certain honor and decorum among all Shinigami and Souls alike to further the cycle of reproduction within the Soul Society, come with a certain weight. The men and women of Sixth can be seen as balancers, justice hunting jackals who are in the right place at the right time, depending on the situation however those scales could change fairly quickly in either good or evil’s favor. This was an overall strange day for the seasoned shinigami, walking the Captain Commander to be tried in the eyes of his other superiors. The Central Forty-Six. Then dastardly energy led him to a Black Coffin Funeral only to find his oldest school friend at the base of the incident with particularly strange behaviour. He did not revel in this catch, he in fact somewhat loathed his sense of duty but knew that if he felt like this that this was the right decision, a slight shred of doubt lingered in his brain but for his entire life he may never understand why he chose such a deathly Kido...
Another strike in the column…” he thought. As one of the jackals he had a high apprehension rate among those in the Sixth’ Barracks, always exceeding quota and displaying his other talents such as sleuthing and precise deduction, it was safe to say that the Kiyoshi was as reliable as you could get as far as the Shinigami were concerned. At first he assumed the feelings he’d have would be a somber wrench in the belly, watching his friend being carded off after apprehending him under the strong suspicion of illegal activity, he knew there could only be a singular place to hold him, that wasn’t within the confines of his own barracks. Requiring a more permanent residence for Enso Aikawa, Shusuke knew that regardless of whether or not the firing of a Level Ninety Hado for ”educational” purposes is strictly frowned upon and that the decision to utilize resulted in the deaths of three unsuspecting officers which is indeed illegal. Accidental or not this is a potential manslaughter case, furthermore, a Kido with the level beyond seventy should never be utilized in combat with a fellow Shinigami. Judging by the look and size of the black monstrosity it had a spoken incantation which enhanced its capabilities.
He thought the events out and replayed them within his mind over and over again to see if there was a detail he had missed, a clue that went unchecked, a small glimmer of doubt that did not pin this on his close friend. Alas, he couldn’t find a single ounce of doubt within his bones and allowed his veterans instinct to take root at the center of the crime rather than his need to be a friend at this particular time. He scanned the blank faces before him, the brood he used to be a part of. Clad in black and faces as blank as unblemished paper, their identities sealed, their conviction solid, these were the ilk that made up the Second Division. Hard to think that he was once a member of this depressing group of shinigami, he did however think them to be some of the most skilled Shinigami to have around. Unable to make out their faces, he felt like he had met one or two prior to their silencing. He heard that the Phantom has them move in silence in all their walks of life save for a select few, it was also at this moment Shusuke was particularly glad to have made the transfer to the Sixth Division before the Phantom shrouded the Second.
Sora quickly removed the weapon from Enso’s possession and placed him further in the care of the Onmitsukido, he would slowly no longer be their problem or any problem going forward.
Shortly thereafter, a body slithered from the dark depths of the forest that surrounded the small clearing before the iron gate that led to the Nest. It wouldn’t be your average reptile however, it indeed was a humanoid body performing a creepy act of hospitality. Without turning his head upon hearing the sound emanate behind him, he waited patiently to allow the man to speak before completely leaving Enso behind bars.
b1b8ec6ff79e467b3880b43306e8e098.png

”So, this is Enso Aikawa. Your suspect, your monster you'd have us cage. Another maggot to join the nest.”
He spoke softly, the full enunciation with every word he spoke near borderlined on a hiss as if a gardener snake just came out of its hiding spot. Making his way into Shusuke’s full peripheral and speaking rather formally to the Shinigami it begged the question; had they met before? Surely it had been some time since he last had been a member of Second. No one would likely remember him very well as he was a much younger man in those days. His eyes were obstructed yet he knew that he could see him better than he would let on, maybe even better. His voice was unrecognizable and the mannerisms were unfamiliar, he would not remember this man even if they had met. Formalities far gone, business must be done. The hiss would soon be replaced by a stern and final instruction and warning.
”You understand, by bringing him here to us instead of one of your own holding cells, that whatever your investigation unveils...good or bad is meaningless to him now."
He left a pause. Did he think he was an idiot? Regardless of whatever Shusuke finds, he expected Enso to be detained within these dark halls indefinitely. His behaviour was reckless and albeit alarming given the stance he had portrayed for these many years. Shusuke simply said nothing.
”Yes...of course you know. The Kido that you've cast on him, undo it. He's in our care now.”
Finally he was starting to make some sense. Without another word, Shusuke took his place in front of Enso for the last time and waved his hands over the wrists of the apprehended then without looking into the shinigami's eyes he bid him farewell with a nod and walked back to stand with his squad. A sudden rustling from the background would begin, his eyes quickly diverted to the location of the sound which was near thirty five degrees behind his head. He remembered not to even touch the hilt of his blade but he readied his hands to perform whatever action that he may have required the most. The body would appear, holding his hand up in surrender. How boring. He let out a small breath and loosened himself once more, however he may have needed to brace for the news that was about to befall his ears.
”Third Seat, Shusuke Kiyoshi. You have been summoned by Head Lieutenant Oki of the First Division. Your escort is awaiting you at the barrack doors. Finish accordingly.”
He looked on in perplexity. He had just come from the First Division hours ago. But to be summoned by the Head Lieutenant...He wondered if this had anything to do with the purple anomaly in the sky when he had finally taken Enso into detainment...An eerie sign for sure. Which means the reasoning behind this summons could only bode disaster. Seems to be the perfect day for it, death included. There would be nothing left the Sereitei could do to surprise him. Or was he wrong? After digesting the information, he looks onto the Second division staff and then the informant of his new directive. He was done here, so he needed to now see what was going on with the First Division but not before imparting a few words of his own.
”Alright then. But I don't need a babysitter, I’ll see myself and my team over there without haste, let the Head Lieutenant know that I will be arriving shortly.” he then looked over to Sora, then nodded to Hideaki who would then take off to answer the call of the Tenteikura distress message from the lieutenant of the Second Division. He doubted anyone would stop him. ”Sora, you’re with me. I'm guaranteed to need a second pair of eyes for this. Now however will be the time where you’ll need to keep up with me though.”
With that final word, he took off in the direction of the First Division barracks. Picking up speed with every step, he finally allowed his full mastery of shunpo to be displayed taking off in a blink and would soon cover the distance between the entrance to the maggots nest to the entrance of the Second Divisions barracks, rocketeing past the escort party, he looked back at them with a sly grin only to dig deeper into the concrete and enhance the distance further with his fleet foot. He hoped Sora wouldn’t be completely alarmed, but he hoped as time would go on he would learn in time that there are certain tones to news that are being brought to your immediate attention. These would be one of those times, and you must act on it swiftly. He figured that he would start by investigating the Central Forty Six chambers seeing as how they are on the way and would be the place that the purple lightning anomaly seemed to have been closing in on. Which was also the last place the Captain-Commander was coincidentally. ”This is already shaping to smell like shit…” was all he could think.

It was not entirely expected though not at all unwelcome to discover she had been followed by the one whose gaze had surveyed her within Second's grounds. Her jaw ached, realizing she had been clenching her teeth at the memory. The weight of that frail body in her arms. Sitting in the courtyard in some strange sort of vigil as she awaited the Captain's return. For a moment she had allowed herself to forget, all focus upon her new task. In the silence of their waiting however, the thoughts resurfaced and clawed at her heart. Eyes shifting to the Maggot's Nest she thought of Xiaolin within the depths as well. Knowing the man little it was still a blow to have had to place their Third Seat in a place he would most likely never return from. To make it worse it was almost certain they would never know exactly what had happened in his absence.
Steeling herself she geared her attention back to her current mission. The reiatsu of the Sixth Division members was within her range now and coming fast. Taking a more confident and serious posture she awaited them, eye line in the direction of their approach. One was speaking to the others, the Third Seat of Sixth she wagered. She was grateful he was aware of the rules of the Maggot's Nest, although they would not be entering the large metal doors and thus needed no instruction on how to behave on the other side. The members of Second that surrounded her were poised and unflinching, a small force of assassins and proud shinigami who could not afford to fail in their duties.
At the group's arrival to hers Kazumi gave only the slightest of bows to the man, her eyes never lowering. She gave her pleasantries in a monotone voice.
"Third Seat Kiyoshi,"
This could all be perceived as rude, more respect deserved to a superior. Under normal circumstances he would receive such but she would not lower her head any more than she had in the presence of one deemed worthy to be locked away in such a place.
Before another word could leave her lips a shadow appeared, taking form of a man who seemed to simply appear in their midst. Though unexpected her only reaction was to shift her eyes to him as he addressed the other squad. Instructions given and the man's Zanpakuto taken to be filed away somewhere. The restraints were released on his command, only a small nod from Kazumi which prompted one of the silent members from behind her to step forward with the white fabric in his arms. Holding the robes by the collar he held them out to the man, a wary eye kept on his movement.
"Change,"
Only one harsh word uttered from Kazumi. She would not tolerate any foolishness from the man. Expecting some sort of jabs about her female presence or him changing out in the open would be like wind to her ears. His arguments against such modesty had been forfeit. The robes would restrict his reiryoku to such a degree his function would be limited to barely more than somewhat of a struggle to walk and perform basic functions-the typical uniform for all prisoners. In his new clothing it was now their turn to bind him. Allowing the same man to perform this she gave another curt bow to the entirety of the Sixth Division members and turned on her heel, following after their new prisoner.
The arrival of another member of yet another squad gave her no pause. His attention was on the Kiyoshi and they would be gone shortly. She had more important matters to attend to. The large metal doors opened before the group, Kazumi pausing only for a moment to drop the finger picks in the hand of one of the guards. Without a second glance they descended down the winding steps into the dark and musty cave system until eventually reaching the main area. The men with his personal effects moved away, taking them to wherever such items were stored. Turning back to the new inmate she gave the guards a questioning look. She was unsure exactly where they would be placing the man but until he was behind bars she did not feel her task complete. There was a cell for him somewhere, though against her initial consideration he would be placed with the general population rather than isolated deeper within the Nest.
Standing at the ready for any more treachery she waited in silence as they processed him and moved him to his new home.
