The seated officer had long since began his advent towards his intended location, under the directive of his supposed superior, with the purpose to relay his findings. An underlying unsettling irritation still vividly pulsing throughout the whole of the young Shinigami. An unshakable plaguing that continuously presented itself throughout the entirety of his soon to be short-lived journey.

A palpable Reiatsu encroaching upon his person at a rapid pace seeming to break his respite period of self-reflection. The signature had been immediately recognizable, yet in place of where it would normally provide comfort and reassurance, it instead had been touched and traced with a mixture of demonic irregularity, mingling with the lines of the hollow intertwined within. The intentions carried with the spiritual signature full of unhindered rage. The Captain of the squadron had finally returned. Hopefully not desiring to rest, as it would continue to elude him should he indulge himself within the happenings of his own Division. He had without a doubt been seeking a briefing of the mission assigned to his seated officers, and from the look of things, he already had a pretty active understanding of what had occurred in his absence.

"So even he is capable of being pushed to such an extent..? Interesting."

A gentle sidestep and a turning of his attention had allowed for the once empty space beside him to now be filled by the raging presence of his Captain directly before him. The Oda's attire certainly served as an accurate reflection of his blatant unrestrained anger in the moment. Who, or what exactly could deal enough damage to the man to have him appear in such a condition was beyond the Third Seat, but ultimately hadn't been his business to pry. Eizoku's posture would prove to be rather lax, something very much out of the ordinary for one who consistently showed enough reverence to his Captain that he would typically kneel in his presence. Shifting his weight onto his right hip while resting his left arm against his sheathed blade. Would his mentor know him well enough to pick up the fact that something had indeed been troubling his student? Or would his brief appearance and soon to be hasty dismissal cause him to disregard it as well?

”Turn around and return to Arashi’s position immediately, I will not repeat myself.”

Without greeting or warning, the Captain makes a demand before immediately fleeing the scene, which out of respect for his Mentor and the position he occupies, he immediately follows without even a second thought - albeit not without a gnashing of his teeth first. A large cloth seeming to escape the sleeves of the Chronomancer's Shihakusho before surrounding him in an enclosing partial sphere of fabric that sought to consume both him and everything within, in a brief intense flash of white light.

SLAM | FLASH

A dim flash lights the room as cloth retracts back into the man's Shihakusho standing tall behind Jizakai, arms folded with his gaze cast upon Arashi before shifting full attention towards the obviously enraged captain. The sound of the slamming door seeming to be the cue for his own arrival. He could sense the Priestesses he displaced prior, making an advent to another location as the Captain made his presence known. Rather that had been a good or bad thing had yet to truly be determined.

Upon the reporting of Arashi, Eizoku's piercing gaze landed upon the man ready to address anything seeming to stray away from the truth of the matter.

" The mission was a success. Though not in the way that you had imagined..."

An audible scoff escapes from Eizoku. LIeutenant Suta allows a moment to pass before continuing.

"I placed Eizoku in charge of the expedition, due to his experience with the unknown within the Dangai. I had planned to be his overwatch, and should I need to take charge I would have. Rather than all three of us entering the Dangai however, Eizoku went in with a team, while we remained. Eizoku moved alone, placing a restriction on the Senkaimon under the assumption that we were sending him to his death, acting out of revenge for what happened during our lesson against you in the training room. Upon his return, he apologized."
-

"If I may intrude Captain, I did not simply abandon the two. In fact, I provided the two of them an extensive in-depth analysis of how to navigate in the Dangai, along with several other emergency procedures to protect themselves and their peers should anything go awry. The boundary fixation was instilled, and I instructed the expedition to begin with hopes that my two peers would trail behind me. After an extensive period, the two never made any effort whatsoever to respond or approach the gateway of the Senkaimon. I figured after the incident which had just occurred, the two perhaps were using this situation as a sort of vengeance to fulfill their desire of getting back at me. As such, I instructed the restriction I imposed which could have easily been overthrown should Arashi so desired. In fact, I'm not sure how he would possibly even be aware of an established restriction being that he didn't approach or make contact with anyone or anything the entirety of the expedition."

-

"From his expedition, he discovered something odd within the Dangai. A substance that is capable of altering the properties of the Dangai. Eizoku managed to capture it within a small capsule that is currently on his person. I ordered him to take it to Head Quarters to quarantine it until we have more information. According to Eizoku, it has been there since the time the Hollow was there. He had also deduced that we may have a mole in Squad 12, which I agree. What concerns me is that we may have a bigger issue on our hands, and we are currently blind to what or whom may lie in wait to strike. I've also made a report to the Head Lieutenant, who is likely to relay the same report to the Head Captain."

-
After allowing the Leiutenant to complete the remaining portion of his report uninterrupted, Eizoku chimed in to grant an even further understanding of the situation to his Captain.

"The reason for the dispute which I'm sure you're more than aware of, was an act of self-defense and presumed underhanded actions on part of Arashi. Rather than simply communicating and focusing on being a "team", he instead tried to forcefully separate me from the substance, and quarantine me here while he proceeded to relay all the information as if he had a part in it.

Eizoku would break his stance and begin walking towards his Captain, the palm of his right hand facing upward with a plastic container of shimmering metallic dust capturing and reflecting the light within the room.

"If at all possible, I truly desire nothing more to do with the matter Captain."

An unexpected chiming in from Arashi catching him a bit off guard.

"Captain... I ask that you not punish Eizoku or Jizakai. I will take full responsibility..."

The soon to be former Third Seat wasted no time in his almost immediate reply to the man.

"As noble of an effort that may be Lietenant, I am more than happy to take on the full responsibility of my actions in this situation. After all, this may certainly be my last meeting with the three of you here in this Division..."

His gaze now cast back upon his mentor, with visible irritation from the situation, and a sense of lingering exasperation from the back to back unfortunate occurrences as of late. Awaiting his response to the overall situation, being more than aware of the fact that he would catch what Eizoku had just hinted at.

As expected, his former lieutenant’s hunger to begin their match makes itself evident. Her menacing scowl accompanied by the swelling of her reiatsu both grow in unison as time passes on. The release of her Shikai before he is able to fully draw out his own sword accompanied by her howl…

“This is the best day a’ my life!”

… is enough to alert Yū to prepare for her advance. The Fairy’s stance remains unchanged, holding his blade in hand firmly as his eyes now dart to anticipate the Kido Chief’s reaction. Only for a brief moment does the facade of tranquility crack to reveal the monstrous Oda’s killer intent in the form of an equally menacing smile before it is quickly concealed once more.

“I forfeit!”

… he proudly declares to the anticipated shock of... everyone.

“Ah…"

Similar to those watching from the comfort of the Rukongai and the rest of the Seireitei, Yū is left utterfly speechless, his confident expression dropping into one of sheer disbelief.

“You two are great warriors and exceptional healers. To be honest for me to put either one of you down for the count I’d need my Bankai and I’m not going to use something like that on my allies.”

“Captain Nakamoto, keep that confidence, should time permit it we can have a duel of Kido during less troubling times. Same for you Captain Hageshi, should you wish to cross blades with me feel free to find me at Fifth Division.”

‘Is his Bankai really that formidable… that even us two couldn't stand against it?’

... the Fairy speculates, his blank stare glued on the retreating Captain. Painting Yū as disheartened would be a grave understatement- finally being offered the opportunity to face off against one of his former idols turned equal just for it to be robbed as swiftly as the chance arose. Still, he wouldn't dare display this disappointment openly to not offend Omoni, as he was still keen on facing off against her, but admittedly... maybe not as much. But, whatever it was that the Oda was hiding... the boy would have no opportunity to uncover his secrets today as he turns to leave their stage. With a light wave, it seems as if Tenzen has made his last remarks and is prepared to depart, yet he leaves one final opinion for the remaining pair.

“No offense to you Captain Hageshi, but I have my bet on Captain Nakamoto coming out of your fight as the victor. See ya.”

‘You may end up surprised then…’ he muses as the Captain withdraws from the hill.

Now left alone, the Captain begins to reconsider his strategy for the final round. While the previous match-up would have forced Yū to juggle between his two competitors as one was more of a long-range fighter and the other was more prone to melee assaults, now there is only a single competitor standing before him.

Yū understands for his own sake that moving to attack the formidable Omoni Hageshi first would be fruitless as he already predicts her to either tank whatever his first strike would be or merely overpower it with her own. While he would have utilized openings offered by Tenzen to take over the brute by surprise and vice-versa, in these circumstances he would need to be strategic and compel her to make an approach first in order to create his own openings for a counter.

The decision now is whether he would do this through taunting her or by feigning ignorance… In fear of Omoni perhaps feeling the same discouragement he was concealing, the Captain decides on the former to revitalize the needed thrill for the final round. While the pair are unable to hear Yasu’s live commentary of their match, Yū’s mind is on a similar track as his cohort, his lips parting to provoke the woman.

“Don’t be disheartened…”

abe054b9f2c1ded5e58f1424a916e40b.png

… he calls out as Tenzen Oda departs from the field. The boy’s eyes darken- his stare lowered; A malicious smirk etches itself onto his face- his body deathly still. With his words the air around him now begins to rapidly shift, revealing a falsified side of himself to further invigorate his former Lieutenant. For the first time before her specifically, he flexes his reiatsu liberally, the pressure around him building in fervor at a significant rate as a blue hue begins to outline his frame.

“At least now, without interference, we’ll finally be able to show everyone why…”

72c75d08e93c5c71f56c2a176f659262.png

“... you were my subordinate for over a century.”

… he mocks, his blade now held horizontally from him. His reiatsu continues to intensify, evident by the bright cerulean glow that burns from his silhouette and the heavy distortion of the air around him. Unlike moments ago with his previous proclamation that displayed honor towards the two finalists, his words now to the one who remains are filled with unusual reproach- a strange, harmful intent that exudes arrogance rather than confidence. Yū knowingly acts out of character, solely to tempt the woman into making a reckless charge towards him, disregarding their previous history as it would easily get swept away by Omoni’s undying, blinding passion for combat. To have finally been granted a match with her former Captain and perhaps one of her closest friends, a battle she most likely would have never received had it not been for the pacifist’s forced participation and her own lieutenant’s resignation from the prior round…

‘Let’s have some fun…’

... the Fairy's compassion compels him to reciprocate her spirit for battle and fulfill her dream of their long-awaited duel. And with one final declaration, their fated clash would finally commence.

“Alone, you don't stand a chance against me, Hageshi.”

Jizakai

There he was, within the wooden and metallic walls of the living quarters of the fifth division barrack. A private room that was attempting to prevent any uninvited guest from hearing anything that could be spoken, or where unsightly actions could occur. The setting was standard, and the custom seemed appropriate but the underlying tone between them was strained. The attitudes the superiors held toward each other were obvious, and the Ametsuchi held his stance on Eizoku and Arashi, allowing it to temporarily be buried – deep enough that it was comparable to finding a needle in a haystack.

There he continued, in a position that was unmoving and seemingly immovable. He continued on silent, the only noises being that of his breath moving the air and his eyelids closing and opening. The Ametsuchi appeared like an apparition, ostensibly unconscious of his surroundings and environment. The reasoning behind his outward expression was unknown, leaving his higher-ups to ponder what was actually happening to Jizakai. In an appeared state of absence – the magenta eyes shifted after a patterned blink to descend at the plastic container containing the substance that saturated the Dangai.

Listening to and taking in everything Eizoku mentioned, kept Jizakai up to time with the happenings within the quarters. He was not going to miss any detail from Arashi, Eizoku, or the High-Priestess. From the words spoken and the actions taken, storing the information within his mind. As he was offered the tea, Jizakai ignored it. He could not fathom taking a drink from someone he did not trust; it was deeper than the surface or what he gave off in his present position. From there the situation escalated, Jizakai continued his natural senses to read the environment and feeling within the room. Like a blank canvas, he continued - unbothered, hinged, and fictional.

This was maintained even when picking upon the signature of Captain Tenzen Oda. Tenzen Oda. A reaper of souls, a reaper of hollows, the man. No. Tenzen Oda. The man who reaps the souls of hollows or anything within his path. Still, Jizakai continued on as is. Seemingly existing in a state of petrification, the Ametsuchi did not appear alive but in deep thought. A thought that was appearing consistently in his mind was that – I am bored! He questioned himself in thought before the Captain or Eizoku could enter the living quarters. "Does a fly apologize for being a fly? No, it does not. A fly inherits its nature - therefore it exists as is. I continue as I am, unhinged, compelled to the station that I exist... Will a fly stop flying because it learns it flies and others cannot? No. Wouldn’t you agree - Risō Kōkan?"

He discontinued, the moment Tenzen Oda entered. His orbitals attentive to the threat in the room readied and prepared to shield and preserve his life in case he needed to. The reconciliation between the leaders was, for lack of words – terminal. He could not entrust his life to the hands of either individual, for they could not muster maturing to put aside differences, taking heed to captains’ previous words was seemingly unavoidable. The captain demanded answers, and so Jizakai responded with one. With squinted eyes, vision stared and body readied – he’d enabled himself to suffer any punishment that was to come his way. As a lower-ranked Shinigami, he would not belittle himself further. Any words from him could only seem to anger the captain further, so the repeated statement was heard.

“I take full accountability for my inaction, Captain. Yet, to enter such a place as a Dangai with my superior’s disgust for each other clouding their judgments and decision-making. I could not allow their egos to be the end of me.”

Tenzen has learned a lot about patience over his long lifespan, more than any human could. This level of patience transfers into battle where he can wait and bide his time before finding the perfect moment to strike. Known throughout the Seireitei as the Golden Buddha, such a thing is expected, however, exercising patience is a choice. He can choose when and where to exercise such a thing and right now, with the words from his subordinates reaching his ears he may choose not to exercise patience.

The Bickering Begins

"The mission was a success. Though not in the way that you had imagined..."

Yes, Tenzen is well aware of this already, but the Captain does not interrupt him. Tenzen hears a scoff from Eizoku, his eyes move in his direction for a moment then fall back onto Arashi.

Eizoku jumps the gun, cutting in and speaking out of turn, something was truly off about the young man today given his mannerisms when Tenzen cut off his trip and now. Tenzen says nothing and lets him speak as his eyes now fall upon him.

Arashi inhales to speak, causing the captain's glowing eyes to now fall back upon him.

"From his expedition, he discovered something odd within the Dangai. A substance that is capable of altering the properties of the Dangai. Eizoku managed to capture it within a small capsule that is currently on his person. I ordered him to take it to HeadQuarters to quarantine it until we have more information.

Eizoku then speaks up once more.

"The reason for the dispute which I'm sure you're more than aware of, was an act of self-defense and presumed underhanded actions on part of Arashi. Rather than simply communicating and focusing on being a "team", he instead tried to forcefully separate me from the substance, and quarantine me here while he proceeded to relay all the information as if he had a part in it.”

Eizoku approaches Tenzen with the capsule in hand, showing it to him.

"If at all possible, I truly desire nothing more to-”

He is cut off by Tenzen using the back of his own hand to strike the back of Eizoku's, causing the capsule to pop into the air. Before it even reaches the apex of its flight it is contained in a small Kido box that is then layered by other various barriers all taking different shapes until finally being confined into a pyramid shaped barrier that floats above Tenzen’s hand. Such sloppy handling of an unknown material could not go overlooked. They should have done this, however, their childish bickering seems to have blinded them.

"Captain... I ask that you not punish Eizoku or Jizakai. I will take full responsibility..."

"As noble of an effort that may be Lietenant, I am more than happy to take on the full responsibility of my actions in this situation. After all, this may certainly be my last meeting with the three of you here in this Division..."

As if they were children trying to appease their parent they both ask to be punished for their actions, Eizoku making it clear that this may be the last time meeting with them, does he plan to leave Fifth Division?

“I take full accountability for my inaction, Captain. Yet, to enter such a place as a Dangai with my superior’s disgust for each other clouding their judgments and decision-making. I could not allow their egos to be the end of me.”

The Buddha Speaks

”Ametsuchi-san was correct in his actions and what he said. You were sent on a dangerous mission, one you were all meant to complete together and yet you grown men bicker like children. It is almost idiotic listening to the both of you go back and forth like this, trying to deflect blame to either side. You, my top two officers, at odds with one another…”

He stops speaking but the agitation in his aura was palpable, the hostility that laid beneath it threatened to attack anyone who interjected at this point. He looks at Eizoku.

”Eizoku, placing a restriction on the barrier, no matter how weak, was foolish and idiotic. You had no reason in the world to do such a thing, had you been attacked and needed backup time would have been wasted trying to break the seal to get to you. If they did not follow you then make them and drag them along with you, do not bar their entry.”

His eyes now shift to Arashi.

”Shifting control of the operation to Eizoku was fine, but my orders were for you to enter the Dangai as a team. Had Eizoku been killed there this time you would be imprisoned for insubordination and manslaughter of a fellow Division member. As a Lieutenant you should know better. When I am away you are in charge, your actions reflect upon me just as much as mine reflect upon the entirety of this Division. This petty squabble between the both of you tells the Gotei Thirteen that I’m running a Division of immature children.”

Punishment Due

With the pyramid floating over his right hand he raises his left hand and flicks his index finger ever so slightly. The cutting of fabric is heard next with a solid *thunk* heard hitting the ground. Tenzen had removed the Lieutenant badge from Arashi’s arm.

”Do not think I am overlooking anything about this item that was found. It will be delivered to the Kido Corps Headquarters, analyzed and an investigation will be launched into Twelfth Division to see if we can turn up any leads on a potential mole. That aside, Arashi, if it is not obvious, you are here-by demoted to Third seat. If you were not a capable fighter I would have dropped you even lower. Eizoku, you seem confident that this will be our last meeting, so I will make it so. Gather your things and leave Fifth Division. Jizakai, your rational was the correct one to take, you will not be punished.”

Tenzen turns to step outside where a Priestess and her guards await him with new attire, he looks straight ahead not bothering to look back at those he held in high regard for their talent as fighters, this regard has dropped by miles.

”I will not tolerate petty childlike behavior in my division ever again, your foolish bravado will only get others killed. Arashi, go make your report to the Commander or Head Lieutenant, whichever you find first. You fail me again and you too will be removed from my Division. Eizoku, you have until the end of the day to clean out your belongings, anything left behind will be erased. Let this be a lesson for all three of you moving forward.”

A Power Structure Shattered

Tenzen leaves them in the room alone whatever comments or opinions they may have for him will go unheard as he leaves with the priestess and her guard. Today was a good day and this little briefing has soured his mood greatly. But regardless of that he himself cannot be bothered by pettiness and his mind must remain on his duties, namely this unknown substance. He reaches out with his left hand as the group around him keep pace, the priestess putting the stack of fresh garbs on his left hand as he hands her the capsule encased in multiple layers each layer flashes for a moment with various colors, Tenzen has tampered with it in some way.

”I placed some additional protection on it, summon up more guards and Priestesses to act as envoy’s for your return to the Kido Corps. I would have sent one of my seated officers along with you but they cannot be trusted to handle a simple task it seems.”

She nods and vanishes from sight, with Tenzen vanishing as well shortly after. The Priestess reappears at the front gate of Fifth Division along with multiple other Kido Corps members and Priestesses to join them, they group together and cast Kyokko together, erasing their presence from existence. Some distance away, in the time it took for the Kido Corps to gather at the front gate Tenzen managed to change into his new clothes, stepping outside inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly. He stares up at the sky and speaks to no one in particular.

”I never realized how many layers of clothing I actually wear…”

He chuckles after saying this as if to lighten his own mood before vanishing from his spot.

The Meeting

Yua Munetoshi had taken the liberty of trying to eavesdrop on a conversation that did not include her. She was curious, had a knack for wanting to learn and preserve what she had learned. She was hand picked from the Academy by Tenzen himself for her high marks in Kido and for her drive to learn more. Almost immediately after being picked up from the Academy Tenzen made her his student. This is what also prompted him to make Eizoku his student as well, however, the two barely had any time to properly go over any lessons and there was very little a Kido Master can teach another. A fresh mind is easier to teach and in turn learn from and so far Yua has done well in learning and Tenzen will make sure this learning continues. As she sits atop the gates Tenzen appears behind her, looking away from his own division and out towards the rest of the Seireitei.

”Learn well from what you’ve seen because you will be given the same treatment if you fail me the way they did. Now, lets go to Seventh Division, we’re going to look into who could have murdered Captain Asakura.”

He awaits the girl's reply and once she has given it Tenzen would vanish with his Shunpo, his next stop, Seventh Division Barracks.

Yua listened in on the conversation the best she could from where she stood. It was hard to know the whole story; frankly, it didn't involve her. However, to her, this was a learning experience of what could happen if she was not following orders or failing her captain.

She closed her eyes as she listened, getting faint memories of all the scolding she had eavesdropped on with her older siblings from her parents or teachers. Some were hard to not take to heart, while others used to be hilarious to her. She learned at a young age a simple rule of the world. Don't piss off those who can end your life without losing a second of sleep. She had heard stories of the various captains from her siblings, the academy, and the civilians she used to observe and came to one conclusion. All the captains were hungry wolves in sheep clothing, awaiting any moment to relieve their thirst for blood. She was lucky to have been hand-picked by a saint of patience and today showed what she was thankful for down this path.

She never got to know most of her squad members very well, as most were off to do their duties or hand-selected missions that best fit their talents. She allowed a light laugh mentally at the captain scolding them about being like children. She winced some to the slap and the punishment that was handed down. She felt bad for Eizoku Yugameru. To be kicked out of the division for not having faith and confidence in his squad members. She wishes she could have spent some time acknowledging him and what she could have learned from him. But now wasn't the time, and it would probably never be possible anytime soon.

Quickly hearing the scolding coming to an end along with some orders given to the priestess, she took her que to leave, heading out of the barracks before disappearing, only to reappear on top of the barracks gates. She silently looked down, seeing the priestess and her escort assemble before vanishing by Kyokko, one of her favorite kido to watch anyone cast. She probably would never get enough watching it cast. She allowed her mind to wander before snapping back to reality, feeling a sudden shift of breeze trailing after the appearance of her captain suddenly next to her. She slowly stood up, removing her hands from within her sleeves before looking at him over her shoulder, heeding his warning. "Yes, sir, I will do everything in my power not to follow down their paths." She spoke before nodding in acknowledgment of her given objective.

She was to accompany him to Squad seven to investigate the sudden death of Captain Asakura. Just as soon as she gave a reply, he was gone. Yua closed her baby purple eyes before looking back at the barracks before disappearing herself in shunpo, following quickly after him towards their destination.

To the Seventh Division Barracks.
