Kasu receives acknowledgement, and already Head Lieutenant Kasumi is placed into her good gracious. The short-stature Lieutenant puts a close to her reading, no doubt attempting to catch up or simply getting familiar with the regulations of the First Division. Height met nothing to her, neither did age, having already discovered that she indeed is younger than her. While they may share these minute differences, their aptitude for work and professionalism are surely not to diminish at all. However, as all warriors do, or as many should who carry the sword, she wondered what was her strength in comparison to the former Lieutenant? How did she measure up if she could even hold a candle? More importantly, what could she learn from her in regards to combat? Though upon their first introductions of each other, and in such a sensitive environment, this curiosity is severely suppressed.
” Nice to meet you Kasu-san, I am sure you are used to Lady Honoka who was here before me, and the manner in which she worked. I hope it won’t bother you that much that things have changed..but things come and go and we have to adjust ourselves accordingly.”
Kasu nods in agreement, in understanding as well. While she is here to replace Lady Honoka, Kasu knows that she could never be Lady Honoka and live up to the work and dedication that she gave to this Squad, and possibly she knows this just as well as she. Willing to give her a chance, willing to work with her- She is in fact her superior, and stood amongst the Lieutenants even in her time with Squad Ten.
” Even though I am younger than you it won’t affect my work. I will perform the task that Lady Honoka had for the division and will only make the division better than it once was. Ah, forgive my late introduction. I am Kasumi, Fuyuko the First division's new Head Lieutenant. I expect you to not lack behind in any regard with the tasks that will be given to you in the future. Now Kasu, tell me more about yourself. How did you come to be in the first division?”
Spoken with conviction, she aims for a higher standing with Kasu and others of this Squad. Unwilling to fall behind, determined to hold everything together with the same fire and steel that kept Squad Ten together. Kasu is indeed motivated, but such emotion is covered by the stone expression she holds. While her eyes are locked to her, none of her words will go in through one ear and out the other. She plans to hold her to every word spoken, every mission, and every goal she sets for herself, and the Squad. Perhaps this is the result of Lady Honoka leaving so abruptly. Her guard is up to an all-time high.
Invited to a seat directly across from her, Kasu moves inward, taking said seat. She had done this several times with Lady Honoka, and for just a moment, Head Lieutenant Kasumi became her. Her face, attire, hairstyle, it all changed, and quickly Kasu blinks to dismiss this mirage. To her, it would seem to be a natural action, as her expression still did not change. However, she ponders where she should start as far as her story goes.
” Well, out of the Academy I first ventured to Squad-Three. I took my talents to teaching and preparing the younger generation of Soul Reapers. As monotonous as it may have been for me, it seemed to be a thrill for them. So I stayed for as long as I could, until I was recruited by the First-Division. I believe they noticed my development, my willingness to improve and perhaps my skills embodied the qualities of the First-Division.
I was around when the shattered-dimensions crisis occurred, and we lost so many promising warriors. Then the former Commander took over, and throughout his tenure, well, you know pretty much the rest of it. I’ve been a part of this squad for so long, it has become my home. I’ve seen no other place. I am pretty sure that I will still be here for another several centuries. But, how are you holding in this new atmosphere? Why leave the members of a Squad where you are known, understood, and while you are respected here, but far more respected there?”

“You will take nothing from us!”
“You will take nothing from us!”

The Oda and their exploits, their strengths, their methods—all of which were no secret. Perhaps the fact that Tenzen has forsaken many of the brutalist nature of his predecessors was the reason he was permitted to be Captain today and not exiled like his kin. However, if there was a time to revisit said nature, to allow it to encompass everything you are; every swing of the sword, or casting of a spell—it was now. It is for this very reason, that there was no surprise towards the unleashing of the Kido Corps Commander’s ferocity. In truth, it was welcomed; no it was demanded. It was the very essence of what Higen had asked for. Why should they show remorse to perhaps the most dangerous foe to ever stand before them, when an enemy far less threatening would show no remorse to them. It is a learned behavior, not a skill; a learned behavior that he had taught for the past century. The dazzling Lieutenant Arashi Suta, a man of few words, and of deceiving smiles. A serpent in the grass that hides behind a luminous spotlight, and a friendly grin. The leaps he had taken in recent years had been boundless, finding the strength to ascend into the Heavens, not unlike Hoshizora—so that he may finally reach his goals. The new Captain of Ninth division, who may as well been the spawn of the Phantom himself, reluctantly fills the Dragon’s shoes. She evades Captain Kojima’s shadow, as well as the disappointment of her former Captain. It is Kyomu’s gaze, that haunts her sleep, his voice, that echoes in her ear—she may have passed the exam, but would she ever be good enough to truly garner his approval? The trio all had their doubts, their troubles, their flaws, but how many of them were put to rest to truly reach their fullest potential as warriors? Whichever strength they gathered, whichever ploys they attempted to use against the Commander, all of this meant nothing to Higen, just as he was sure his strengths and tactics meant nothing to them.
Tenzen, was masterful in the usage of his zanpakuto, but if not careful, he could be put in a predicament where he’d come close to erasing the very manifestation of one of his comrades. Arashi could call upon the heavens, yet the stars would show no mercy in their bombardment, raining down upon Tenzen and Yasu alike. And lastly, the master of the black marsh, chooses to cover the battlefield in her abyss. It is indiscriminate, able to consume whom and whatever is pulled down within it. The three masked had their own goals, and perhaps outside of the Oda clansman barking orders, their own plans. But most importantly, they had to ensure that they were performing cohesively. If each of them were not a cog in a functioning machine they would fail. Three masked; two Captains and a lieutenant no-less, and somehow.. it was Higen who felt advantageous. Whilst the others had to make conscious efforts not to trip over each other, Higen was free of any and all tethers of the like. He did not have to look to his left, or right, to ensure his allies were out of harms way. He did not have to dial down on the scaling or usage of certain techniques with fear that a comrade would be hit in the crossfire. No. The commander was free of all binds. The last time they looked a Head Captain in the eye with golden orbs they hardly remembered their consciousness; Higen would do his best to mimic the beating they’d received from his predecessor.

The commander would have to be savvy. He was no tactician, and yet, he was forced to combat three—no, Six minds. Not a vizard himself, he was not ignorant to their inner workings, two souls fighting for—or in this case working together—in the same body. For some, these hollows would poke and prod at the weaknesses and insecurities of their host, for others, like these three, they offered an array of confidence and knowledge to not only cover the flaws of the trio, but to inherently enhance their strengths. Well.. this is what he asked for.
”Bakudo #76: Bonshō!” (梵鐘, Buddhist bells)
”Bakudo #76: Bonshō!”
It begins, a spell of which he was gravely unfamiliar with. While most would find room to be startled, or fear the unknown, Higen relishes in it. At his age, there is little he has not seen on the field of battle, so each new obstacle is a welcome sight. A massive bell-like construct hovers over the Commander. It hosts a golden luminescence, before an imminent darkness comes from its innards as they surround Higen. He does not think to attempt to move out of the way, it was definitely more his speed to face things head on as opposed to avoid them, but even if he had intentions on doing so—
” Bakudo number 61, Rikujōkōrō.”
“Hm?”

The commander was intrigued, he quickly looks down as the bars of light pierce his mid-section. And still, no motion. Just what exactly was he waiting for? Finally as the one fluid motion comes to a halt that had been initiated by the Fifth Division tandem, he is sealed beneath the bell. He gauges the strength of the lieutenant’s spell in the most infinitesimal of moments. Realizing that just by raising his reiryoku by a crumb, it becomes breakable by the Titan. He does not willingly raise his spiritual pressure himself, however. He instead insists of another method, a method concealed by the bell that has completely concealed him from those outside, unable to identify his actions within. Through two spells colliding with him, and the existing Reiatsu of the three beyond, his presence becomes muddied, lost in the stew of the many spiritual energies.
“Hitsumishi.”
Hushed and hurried, it is all that is needed from an individual who has spent almost one thousand years learning and mastering everything there is to know about his zanpakuto. In the instant the final syllable crosses his lips, his hands—still bound at the elbow around his mid-section, become clad in a shining cobalt. The light form the rikujokuro reflects against the spikes along the knuckles of the Commander’s Shikai. The moment he releases his blade a process ensues, with multiple steps. These steps, that happen a mere half second after each other follow as such: Higen’s reiatsu rises from the miniscule fraction that he had displayed to them earlier, naturally boasting more spiritual energy whilst in his shikai form. This allows him to use his oppressive reiatsu, physical strength, combined with the Senren that hugs tightly against his skin, to easily make fragments of the lieutenant’s spell. The process continues, as Crystal begins to formulate around both of Higen’s fists, before coating his entire body in a crystalline armor. From the outside, Arashi’s light bombards the bell, perhaps if the Commander was coated in rock or stone, it would shatter from the vibrations present inside of Captain Oda’s spell. But no, it is Higen’s unbreakable crystal, which absorbs the waves of sound entirely, and would absorb any reiatsu that had made its way inside as well. The final step of the process ensues. The crystal spreads quickly, violently, from the surface of his foot onto the ground in which he stood. Like a plague it spreads, over the ground, into the ground, beneath the bell, inside of the bell, all over the bell. It violently creeps beneath the Fifth Division Captain’s spell, and stretches to coat the entire battlefield in an instant. Like a lake freezes over the winter, The marsh becomes victim to a bed of crystal. It is Higen, and no other, who shapes the battlefield to his liking when using his zanpakuto; In this he has no equal, no contest. The amount of Crystal is insurmountable, the entire chosen area for battle is enveloped in emerald. The sun itself causes a gleam to rise from the surface he created, reflecting against the verdant glow below.
Higen-Crystal-1.gif
Higen-Crystal-2.gif

What is to become of the lieutenant turned Captain? The entirety of her marsh had been left below the unbreakable crystal, with herself submerged beneath it, like a child stuck in water beneath a bed of ice. Would she suffocate? Or perish instantly? Would her bankai subside as the spreading crystal clips her flowers by the stem? On the other hand, the crystal spreading over the battlefield would encroach the fifth division duo, aiming to lock to them at the ankles and hold them still. From the base of the crystal bedding would also rise hundreds of spires, ready to impact the two individually, their trajectory would be followed, a mental lock on their reiatsu signature, which they would have to keep constant to keep up with the Commander’s. They aimed to pummel them both like an endless flurry of fists, shattering their bones to dust, evaporating their masks into nothingness; there was no angle in which the pillars and spires did not approach his adversaries, surrounding them completely in an endless web manifested by Higen’s shikai. The bell’s integrity was weakening by the second, the Crystal that encompassed its insides halting it from tolling, whilst Higen continued to fuel all that he created with his own reiryoku, sending a pulsating wave of green energy through the battlefield in one second intervals. The commander wasn’t even visible, and yet, caused so much destruction and devastation. Without having to go near them, their lives were all in imminent danger. How would the masked fare? Did they truly understand just what exactly they were up against?

MUSIC
As fuyuko watched Kasu take a seat across from her as she began sharing her tale, telling how she got in the first division. She was both curious and surprised that the first division had sought her out.
”Well, out of the Academy I first ventured to Squad-Three. I took my talents to teach and prepare the younger generation of Soul Reapers. As monotonous as it may have been for me, it seemed to be a thrill for them. So I stayed for as long as I could until I was recruited by the First-Division. I believe they noticed my development, my willingness to improve, and perhaps my skills embodied the qualities of the First-Division.
.”

It's certainly a great deed, making sure everyone is meeting the criteria of a shinigami but can also become a bad habit. Sometimes people forget about their own well-being and neglect themselves in the process. The ravenhead simply nodded at her explanation.
Her curiosity was further piqued when hearing how Kasu was present during the Shattered-Dimensions Crisis. Captain Kagayaki had told her stories about these events that took place and about the many lives that were lost. It was a time that would never be forgotten.
”It must be awful that we lost so many lives, but I’m sure it was a sacrifice that needed to be made. They all died with honor and in battle, the greatest death to a shinigami knowing they have fulfilled their duties. This is why it’s important to make every day count and be thankful for the days we live in. You are worthy to have been scouted to be a member of the first division kasu. You have done a lot for those who can call themselves a shinigami because of you. I’ll make a promise that I will kidnap you whenever I have a slight chance to go to the world of the living so you can see more than just this place, beyond the walls and barriers of this world. ”
Fuyuko smiled at her warmly, she wanted to take her to some nice food places that she knew of when she was back in the 10th division, having gone to the world of the living for tasks and assignments. Whenever they have some downtime or a vacation to unwind in the future the Head Lieutenant would make sure to take Kasu with her. Fuyuko raised her eyebrow slightly to the other female’s question; she didn’t expect her to have a question for the raven.
” It is a new atmosphere I won’t lie about that but it’s nothing new with what I have done in the 10th as a lieutenant there. If anything it’s just a slight upgrade with other things I have to look over now. It’s not just the 10th I have to look after but every division’s lieutenants..and as to why I left, that's simple enough. It’s because Higen wanted someone familiar who knows his workflow without having to explain it to a new person in what he does..I won’t lie, I do miss 10th. It was full of lively idiots who I could call family... but getting too comfortable can be a bad thing. That's why I know the members who are in 10th will do great and protect what they must. With the help of the other divisions they can surely control the havok within the world of the living.
.”

The Determination of the Vizards!
The sealing efforts of Lt. Suta and Captain Oda seem to have worked, now the cogs in the plan can begin to move. Arashi striking the bell with his light wasn’t exactly just used to disorient the Commander, no, it was to let him know what would happen if he were to strike the bell. The Shining Commander wasn’t one who needed such hints, he would have figured this out on his own, so why give the hint? To speed up the process, to force him to take the path Tenzen wants him to take which would involve the Commander using his immense strength to lift the bell off of himself. But things do not always go according to plan and yet the next events that play out do not bring shock to the Captain in the slightest.
He watches the bell as light rains down upon it while the young Ninth Division Captain makes her move but he takes note of something happening within the bell, a spike in Reiatsu from the Commander, a familiar spike. These three have battled against Higen for over a century, however, Tenzen has fought the man in this capacity two times before this, both times the Emerald Knight tried to break Tenzen in some way and both times he used Shikai. To face the Captain of Fifth Division more than once is a curse, he learns your patterns, habits and continues to pick up on these things and build off of them. That familiar spike of Reiatsu causes him to respond in kind.

”Kokūzō”
”Kokūzō”

Higen does not lift the bell, no, he attempts to destroy it from within using the creation of crystals. These crystals rush out from their spawn point, seeking to overtake the entire area, the Commander thinks he has no equal when it comes to shaping the battlefield, thinking that no one can contest him. His arrogance blinds him…
Many noble clans have their own fair share of artifacts that may grant flight, a unique singular Zanpakuto that is passed down through the generations, or even knowledge on how to create weapons that rival Zanpakutos. With that said, what is it that the Oda have? It is their Zanpakuto’s. Those born with Oda blood tend to be gifted rather unique Zanpakuto. Unbreakable, immortal, invincible, unkillable, immovable, unstoppable; these are words that mean nothing to the warrior clan as their Zanpakuto trample them into the ground before rendering them useless. There is nothing an Oda cannot kill and there is nothing they cannot destroy…
Golden mist erupts from the Nodachi shaped Shikai of the Captain, he lashes out with it towards the source of danger, Commander Kagayaki. The unbreakable crystals rage on towards Arashi and Tenzen only to be halted then erased from existence. With the integrity of the bell failing, Tenzen frees it from its burden, erasing it along with the crystal that envelopes the Knight. This Vizard stares at Higen through the golden fog that fills the area and effectively seals off the use of his Zanpakuto. An air of superiority begins radiating from him as he quickly crouches and jabs his left index finger into the viscus black ink at his feet. He glances up at the Commander as this singular black cohesive body of liquid pulses with a white light.
Speaking of which, what about the constructs of his allies wouldn’t they be erased as well? Not quite, if this were happening four hundred years ago then yes it would. To pick and choose what he wants to erase shows the level of mastery he has over his Zanpakuto and it shows control. If he lacked either one of those things every structure around him would be erased every time he swung his blade. More-so than that he would lose his clothing everytime he used it as well.
Stripped of his protective armor the knight now stands bare, his shield broken by one who now starts to chuckle at him from a distance. Has Tenzen lost himself in his bloodlust as he did when he faced the Captains or is this too part of a ploy of his? But why wouldn’t he laugh, he has stripped the Commander of his Reiatsu that would crush them if they were to slip up, robbed him of his crystal creation, and torn away any Reiryoku or Reiatsu defensive measures he may have had or built up. The taunting chuckle ends and he falls silent for a moment, just watching, he hasn’t pulled a fast one by using Honzon (本尊:, principal image of Buddha), no, he just stands there watching, waiting and then speaking.
"Everything in this world exists in impermanence, the non-self and the self vie for control over this Impermanence.”
"Everything in this world exists in impermanence, the non-self and the self vie for control over this Impermanence.”

His Bakudo works in tandem, going unimpeded to trap the valiant and Shining-Knight of the Seireitei. Arashi stands knowing better than to believe such an adversary is so easily captured and nullified of all movement- even while he strengthens it with an incantation. Surrounded by darkness from the bell, trapped at the mid-section by light, still, Commander Kagayaki’s mouth moves to utter a single word. A word that remains hushed, oblivious to the ears of the outside, but the rise in spiritual pressure doesn’t go unnoticed and neither does the shattering Bakudo used by Lieutenant Suta. He felt it, his limbs being freed from the immobilizing force of Rikujokoro. While unfortunate, Lieutenant Suta holds far more in his arsenal of Kido, but Hicks-Law will soon become an issue. He had to be careful, he had to be quick, and precise in his next course of action.
Still, he watches, even while Captain Yugure works beneath the ruins of the environment caused by the Commander. Her Bankai, one of the most versatile amongst Bankai, no doubt from his experience of seeing it once before she likely aims to trap the Commander further, and with the intention to wound as well as swallow the Commander beneath the black marsh. However, despite the odds stacked against him, the Commander soon prevails. The release of his Shikai becomes evident as it shows the ground before them being overtaken by crystal. The emerald ocean moves like a stampede, capable of trapping Capture Yugure under its indestructible layer. Arashi stands unfazed, ready to act. Captain Oda who has been in combat with the Commander not once, but twice acts quickly. Prepared, and experienced when it comes to dealing with Commander Kagayaki’s Shikai. Tenzen confronts it with his own as his golden mist envelops the area, erasing all within his choice, the crystals that come to impact himself and Lieutenant Suta are vanquished. Even so, Arashi moves via Shunpo, appearing further back in the air with a single hand over his face, standing upon a platform move of light that is big enough to fit only himself. Commander Kagayaki is freed from the bell he had planned to destroy with his own power, surrounded by the golden mist, the black marsh of Captain Yugure’s Bankai, and not to mention the natural rays of light from the sun and Arashi's Shikai in kind.
The entirety of his Shikai had already enveloped the entirety of the battlefield. Tenzen, Yasu’s, and Higen likely believe their Zanapkuto’s are the only ones that can shape the battlefield, and while on the ground this is true, Arashi’s covers the air, all sides, all angles. It takes away all mobility with its untraceable speed coupled with the force and piercing power, and Commander Kagayaki is surrounded by it. Arashi’s light remained masked, blending into the natural light of the world. Each point, no, each particle unseen by him and even his comrades, slaves to Arashi's will… Commander Kagayaki is given no time to think, no time to process the erasure of crystal, his shield, and any other defensive mechanisms he decided to take place. Arashi dares not give him the faintest chance for retaliation. The second after the golden mist had moved in to take these things away from him, he’d be encased in an orb of light instantly and is large enough to fit a being of his stature. His vision of the Fifth Division duo and the battlefield as a whole is taken for only but a fraction of a second.
Many do not know this about Arashi’s Shikai. Its power is greater during the day than during the night. Far more control, far more potency, far more lethality, and he planned to use every bit of it- and then some...
Suddenly a mask is formed
d2292c40ada424bbb869f007ce648809.png

In the fraction of that same second, concurrently the orb of light surrounding Commander Kagayaki, right as his armor is stripped from him, he is bombarded with deadly force. From his toes to the top of his head, every follicle of hair, no, every cell in his body is targeted by the minuscule fragments of light that make up this orb. They move so fast, that they become untraceable, incalculable, far more insurmountable than the amount of crystal that was about to blanket the battlefield. Arashi aimed to leave his form shredded, no, eviscerated from this all-around assault as each particle moved to pierce through the Commander’s hulking frame; muscles, tendons, intel organs, brain, eyes, ears, nose, neck, legs, fingers, etc. He’d leave nothing left of the Commander.
In the event that anything was left, Arashi could likely count on the efforts of both Captain Yugure, and Captain Oda to act promptly in quick succession. However, even now, he still remains vigilant, Reiryoku channeled and focused through every fiber of his being.
“ Die.”
“ Die.”

He speaks a single work with his inner-hollow in tow, through the laughter of his Captain which then falls into silence, only to broken by the lines of yet another incantation... What will become of the Captain Commander? After 100 years will his body be stained with blood? Will he lose a limb? Or worse, does the Gotei 13 lose yet another Commander?
