The Aftermath
Katsuo… Toshiyuki. Toshiyuki. The 13th Division Lieutenant closed his eyes and tried to concentrate within his inner world, a peaceful breeze shaking the light purple trees with black trunks. The Shinto shrine was rather quiet, seeing as the louder part of Eikogitsune had nothing to say to the troubled youthful Lieutenant. The quieter twin to her simply dangled her feet over the pond and looked back and forth between the two. Concerned that their silence was worse than hers even on a good day. Tenzen's words rang through the hallowed halls of the shrine and the skulls like conch shells… Without a family, without friends, who was Katsuo? He didn't know himself anymore. He dangled his feet into the pond with the silent Eikogitsune twin, and looked at the silver pool, reflecting the lavender sky. Katsuo cast no reflection into it anymore. Probably because there was nothing inside to reflect.
"You're pathetic… honestly if one jackass who barely thought of you as a brother can get to you this much, you're not worthy of wielding us."
Well, she finally says something… something that makes Katsuo's eyes narrow at her. She was trying to get a rise out of him for recovery purposes, but instead, she was crumbling the towers of confidence even further.
Her twin looked back and forth between them again, then sighed.
"Stop it. Katsuo is hard, but he's our wielder… that green-haired ogre demon was right, you know… he said the same thing as the white and black-haired tree lady. Katsuo, we don't need the Oda, we never have. They were trying to meld you into something you're not, and never will be. A warrior yes, but a killer you're not."
Katsuo remained quiet and smiled warmly at the colder twin. If he was a warrior, but not a Killer… how could he be a warrior that doesn't kill, among the Shinigami… how could he be a Hero if he's not a thing but a zero…
"I tried so hard to make them see, if we don't change our ways the cycle of pain and torture, death and destruction will continue, and one day it'll be too big for even the great Shobatsu Murasaki to stop it… killing brings more hatred, more war… even if the cycle is all the Shinigami care about, you take a life its loved ones will want revenge and cause destruction, either upon itself or others… and sin. It'll be taken to hell… more and more souls placed in hell… more togabito are gonna get out like the ones before…. It's a never-ending cycle. Nipping all of this in the butt… I don't know if I can. Nobody will listen. If you kill them they'll only be more… like that story about the Hydra beast…"
The more wild twin scoffs.
"Then be the warrior that stabs it in the heart, rip it from the chest, and then once it's dead, get me their heads."
Katsuo chuckles. If only it was so simple as her, or Higen thought. Part of the problem was nobody cared about life and letting things live as much as Katsuo does…
"About damn time I say. I didn't like that guy even after you beat him to a pulp as kids, always looking at us like a street rat. Never a person, never a Shinigami, a warrior."
Katsuo looked at the pond, thinking she was right… but, he looked back too, at everything after that, how he stopped, and came into his own person… honestly Tenzen would still be that same shy, spoiled little brat if it wasn't for Katsuo being a part of his life. He couldn't help but wonder if it was painful to see him gone… probably not… seeing as he has his own family now. Brothers? Was it all a lie? Was he simply a replacement off of an assembly line to all the Oda?
Tsk… Katsuo kicked the waters of the pond and stood up. Eikogitsune looked at him, both twins, waiting to see what the Lieutenant would do.
"Who cares?! ENOUGH SULKING! LET'S PROVE HIM WRONG! I'M NOT SOME TOOL! I'M NOT SOMETHING HE CAN SIMPLY TOSS AWAY SO EASILY! I'LL SHOW EM ALL, I'll become a captain one day, and when I'm big and strong, i'll fight Tenzen again, and put his uppity Oda clan to shame. They'll be sorry they used me…"
The twins smiled, and their lips curled.
"NOW that is more like it! Let's go, Child of Glory!"
Katsuo smiled at her, and blades manifested in their hands, training and bonding continued as if nothing changed. After all, He had his sights set very high. If he was to become a captain, he'd have better respect.
Two weeks Later
"Saiko, you take the downtown Karakura patrol, and keep a lookout for anything, including Quincy. If you see anything suspicious or run into trouble, text me. I'm going to the northern half of town. Kill any Hollows you see, but do NOT engage any Quincy. If any show up we'll handle it together, okay?"
Katsuo seemed fine, considering he had a job to do. The squad had noticed a surplus of Items dumped at the 13th Division barracks and heard the news… some hushed whispers about it, but none of it bothered Katsuo much anymore. Katsuo took his belongings to his barracks by himself, didn't ask anyone for help, but… a few division members knew how much being a family meant to Katsuo, and pitched in without him asking, nearly making the young lieutenant cry… but not in front of his subordinates. No… he'd turn around and show them that big goofy smile afterwards and give them a thumbs up. That was weeks ago.
"Take groups 2 and 3 with you Saiko… be careful."
He knew Shizuka was in the town somewhere… as well as anticipated the arrival of possible members of 4th, 11th, and 5th divisions. Hopefully the Fullbringers and Quincy will behave themselves today, so that Katsuo wouldn't have to follow those orders… he really didn't want to kill them, if he could help it. Kiku and the hidden fifth division members would probably see a little yellow streak darting across the sky, jumping from Reishi platform to platform, headed northward, pretty average levels of reiatsu coming off the lieutenant.

2 weeks ago was wild for Saiko Junsui for sure, being wrapped up into a business that she was not even involved in, due her Lieutenant. Katsuo Oda. who was not an Oda anymore, Her Lieutenant was now known as Katsuo Toshiyuki. In a way, she felt bad for Katsuo for getting kicked out of the most famous Oda clan. During the two weeks she kept seeing him doubting himself for all the mistakes he made. However the past is now the past and her focus was patrolling the world of the living, to be exact, Karakura Town.
His orders were crystal clear to her, she turned her back to him, raising her hand with her Denreishinki X, waving it to him. She turned her head back to look at the, slightly tilting to the side, having a reassuring smirk on her face. She winked at the Lieutenant, while in a reassuring tone of hers
“Crystal Clear Lieutenant Toshiyuki, You can count on me and you know that.”
Seeing her Lieutenant also spoke in other words, which listened carefully before taking off herself, to patrol the downtown area of Karakura Town, with two groups she had to take for extra precaution.
"Take groups 2 and 3 with you Saiko… be careful."
Lieutenant spoke out to her on being “careful” which she was most times, though it was him that ought to be careful as well, she nodded and moved towards the downtown area.
Once Saiko got to the downtown she guarded, making sure the group 2 and 3 were doing their jobs properly, some were groaning due to how bored they were waiting for any hollows to appear out of the blue. She was taking extra precaution of those other divisions like the Eleventh, Fifth, and also the Fourth. Thank goodness she didn’t bump into any Quincy as of yet. Her eyes scanned around the area, nothing at the current being, waiting for something to happen. including herself was also getting little bored from the lack of activity.

The past two days for Dominic were nothing special, outside of getting himself acquainted with the two new Sternritter in their slow growing army. The priest, Dimitri, plays his cards close to his chest, for a holy man he has a lot of scars and is in relatively good shape, way more than anyone should be given his age and profession. Dominic is wary to trust him as he wants the man to open up more, at least give up the holy man act and tell them what he is really about. Then there is Jeuno, someone Dominic absolutely does not trust considering he tried to kill Blume. It is hard to gauge the loyalty of someone like that in just two days so it is hard to tell how he is feeling about following Blume now after all he did. For Dominic these are frustrating times as two individuals he is unsure about join their forces, his guard is up higher than ever because of them. So, to mend this he clears his mind with a jog.
The Jog
Thankfully Blume stationed herself in Karakura Town once again allowing him to jog these familiar streets like he used to do ten years ago. It was refreshing, his own slice of peace and tranquility. Just moving forward, wind in his hair and on his face nothing to dictate his speed or pace. It was quite enjoyable so much so he lost track of where he was going and found himself jogging around the northern part of Karakura Town. He comes to a stop, rubbing his head for a moment and looking around. He has calmed himself down quite a bit regarding the situation with the new Quincy, he gives another look around for any nearby humans and after confirming the coast is clear he leaps into the sky. Again the air was rushing across his face and even this was therapeutic for him. Once up above he looks around before looking in the direction of the Diamante home.
However, before he could make his move towards it something flew past him suddenly and unexpectedly, a blonde haired Shinigami. He looks back behind him and raises an eyebrow, deciding to follow him, far as Dominic knew they were on friendly terms still and a little small talk wouldn’t hurt, right? He decides to follow and catch up to the Shinigami moving alongside him for a bit before waving.
”Yo, what’s up Ghost Samurai. On patrol or something? Mind if I tag along cause I have nothing else going on for the time being.”
Dominic continues to follow this Shinigami that has a strange wooden badge on his arm, he must be a Lieutenant, one step away from a Captain. This would be the moment someone would be curious about how strong he is and try to compare themselves to them, however, Dominic could care less about Shinigami as long as they don’t swing their blades at him or Blume he’ll be fine co-existing with them.
”Ah, I’m not gonna help you kill any Hollows so don’t sweat that. I know you Ghost Samurai are picky about that whole balance thing or whatever.”
He tacks on that last bit to assure the Shinigami he has no plans on interfering with his job. If anything Dominic followed him just to extend his time outside, he would only return if Blume demanded him to.

SHIZUKA.png

“I truly don’t know how I’m going to do this….”
Shizuka stood atop of a building in Karakura Town, with a face grimacing in utter pain. The pain was a result of the words told to him two weeks ago from his former Captain. He could hear it in his head still vividly, crystal clear, the mere sound plagues his psyche.
“From this moment forward, all interaction with said individuals that does not include their destruction or detainment is completely forbidden, a fatally punishable offense.
The Lieutenant knew he had no choice but to carry out such devious actions, his loyalty should remain first and foremost to the Soul Society. His heart was telling him otherwise though, for he had been committing silent treason for hundreds of years now. Disregarding the biggest issue, which is the relationship he has with the Quincy Emperor. For years he had been letting the Fullbringer escape his judgement, and sat among them as friends during his escapades in the World of the Living. The way Shizuka proceeded with his life was going to change expeditiously, and this time there was no way he could escape his fate. Though his resolve was not definitive, he knew he needed to do something upon the manner. Lieutenant Toshiyuki, the former Oda, was sentenced to the same fate as he was. This decision was less taxing to him, he was diligent and did his proper work within Karakura town. If it came down to it, Shizuka assumed Katsuo wouldn’t take a second thought to slay the Fullbringer and Quincy. After all he needed something to redeem himself, something to make him shine within the bright lights and restore his former Oda prestige. Shizuka needed to stray a different path than him.
The young lieutenant sat down on the edge of a building, his caramel colored legs covered by his jet black shihakusho dangling above the oblivious civilization. Trying to subside the thoughts that plagued him, he reminisces on his growth. He had to remember he was a completely different being than the one from years ago. He stood much taller, his reiatsu was more solid and refined, and the most important factor of all was that he could finally rely on his Zanpakuto. The experience he gained on his journey as a shinigami, was something to behold. Maybe this was the beginning of a new path he had to unfold, one where he had walk between the lines of righteousness and order. It was at this moment, Shizuka found new resolve.
“I know what needs to be done.”
Dropping down from the building he once sat on, he landed gracefully between two inconspicuous buildings. He opened his Denreishinki and typed a message to the “Advisor” on his device, texting..
“I’m coming”
Immediately dumping his Denreishinki in a place only he could remember and find. He didn’t need to be tracked on this short expedition, but if he were to be, they’d find nothing but his device laying on the ground. He suppressed his reiatsu to as low as he possibly could. He knew there were other shinigami on duty, but his subtle disappearing act would take a while to register to even the more skilled shinigami. Shizuka knew the Seireitei was on edge, needing to patrol the city with diminished hands since the Kenpachi Games were in effect. There was no time like this to go and do what he was about to do. Which was make a visit to the Diamonte Manor, where the Empress of Quincies resided.
Shizuka then began to dash through the city, quickly memorizing the path to get to his location. Although he was not in Karakura Town often, when he did occasionally arrive there he always made sure to visit the lovely Empress. There were times where he was made to stay longer, due to “circumstances”. Though this time, he assumed the situation would not call for that in this moment. He understood the love he had for Blume, but as with any emotion you give to someone, you always wonder if it is reciprocated the same. Today he was going to find out if this was the case. After some time, the Lieutenant finally made it to his destination. The esteemed Diamonte Manor.
“Here goes nothing.”
As he rung the doorbell, a shiver went down his spine. He knew what he was going to ask from the Empress was going to be a handful but, he needed to push cards to the Shinigami’s side. She was the only factor that could help change the tides of their ongoing cold war.

Annnd, of course the Quincy doesn't know how to stay back dammit… Katsuo bit his bottom lip hard and closed his eyes looking away from Dominic. Unlike most, he was rather soft-hearted towards those who… are living beings, with family and loved ones…
"I wish you would have left me alone and continued jogging young one…"
Katsuo was at war with himself over the need to do his duties or face death and punishment for not… he turned himself about to look at Dominic, his eyes glossy, mostly from sadness, a deep, hardened sadness. He did not want to do what Higen ordered… Dominic seemed like a nice young Quincy… so full of life.
"I'm so sorry, I must… follow my orders or… my own life will be at stake."
He'd say before part of his reiatsu flared to life. He'd draw Eikogitsune out and point it towards Dominic with a warning.
"Are you coming with me, Willingly, or must we fight…our new head-captain has given his orders and we must follow it….
Please… kid… I don't want this… please understand how much I don't want to do this…. A prisoner… a prisoner to his own damn world… the shinigami were cruel, even to their own subordinates. Katsuo watched Dominic calmly, waiting to see what he would do, then act accordingly… he really did not want to make the first blow, but he drew his sword at the lad, for all intents and purposes, to ensure those watching knew, he was following out with Higen's orders, as best he could.
The armband on his arm meant nothing? Without a Captain, Division 13's strongest member stood before Dominic… one who did not want to fight the boy, but orders were orders… obey them or die… that was how the Shinigami were… and always have been. A bit primitive. If Dominic attacked first he could say he defended himself… but if Dominic backed off and tried to flea… he would have to pursue… as the order to capture was still in effect… either way, Dominic would either have to surrender, or kill him… which neither wanted to do, apparently.
Saiko could probably feel her lieutenant's energy rising, as well as other Shinigami in the area, as Katsuo's plan to draw out a Quincy worked.
Soon, Dominic would find himself surrounded by a lot of Shinigami. Several groups of Division 13 members swarmed the two of them. All of it is a bit difficult for some… who looked as ashamed of what they needed to do as Katsuo did. Afterall, it was Quincy who pointed their arrows at the Hollows that saved some of their lives...
