The sound of his heart beating was loud in her ears as if it were being played through a speaker. Panic? Perhaps. Excitement? Maybe. She had wanted to surprise him at a later date when she was more presentable but he’d come so quickly and events were beginning to fall like dominoes and she was unsure as to where this would have fallen in line, so she chose to bring it up now. Ten years of intimate moments, long nights and gentle mornings waking up with him at her side had finally resulted in something… taboo.
“Okay my love, I promise you and Dominic will be absolved from the situation. I give you my word.”
He speaks, yet his mind is elsewhere as he rubbed at her stomach and she looked down in between them, eyeing his hands while they roamed and she felt a small weight lift off of her shoulders for the moment. Perhaps… if they were normal people, this would be more enjoyable, more sincere. However, neither were normal. Members of two different races have met once again and fallen down the rabbit hole, both unable to resurface and stop it before anything permanent happened. A tale as old as time, she could only recall the single entity from long ago that had been a product of the same fate.
“The shinigami are probably in a scramble now, with what Dominic just did. Let me out through a secret way, so I can avoid suspicion from the Shinigami. When I retrieve my device, I need you to relay extensive information on these Fullbringers we need to track down. Also, I’m going to need you to have someone deployable to help if we get outgunned.”
She says nothing as he relays his requests, only listening quietly as he then lifts her hand to his mouth to place a kiss against it. He’d finally snapped out of his stupor, and she tilts her head slightly, watching his every move. When he speaks once more--
“You don’t need to do any work.”
1ecadb4bd4e4ce69d785ebde8da82442.png

-- his lips then crash against hers. Her eyes widen just ever so slightly, staring down at him as he loses himself into her… and she melts slowly into the kiss, her fingers curling into the fabric of his shihakusho while his hands cup her face to hold her in place. They linger, and she savors the closeness between them before he ultimately pulls away to begin his work. Blume is quick to work, immediately waving her right hand in the direction of the wall behind him where his Shadow grows far above his head. Leaving through a shadow would ultimately hide his presence entering and leaving the area. An absolute depletion of any spiritual signature would cease to exist until complete resurfacing.
“I can only give you a name. Providing you with a body for help is unfortunately outside of my jurisdiction. Until I--... we see you again, my love.”
And when he finally disappeared, Shizuka would find himself close to his last location, hidden within an alleyway on a busy street where the foot traffic was heavy. Once he is gone, Blume feels her shoulders sink and she tilts her head back, sighing heavily before she moves from that room to find Dominic who isn’t too far off, standing far down the hall where he strongly gave the two their privacy. On the trek there, Blume sends a singular message to Shizuka that only says: Stephania Shingetsu, and pockets her phone. Blume appears behind Dominic, placing her hand on his shoulder and smiling softly at him.
“I’m really happy you’re safe… Come with me. I have some things to discuss with you. You can also tell me what happened in detail...”
Her voice drops down to a whisper and she pulls him into a separate room where neither would be disturbed, hopefully again. She fixed them some tea, quietly pouring him a glass and sitting it in front of him at the coffee table that sat in the center of the room. It was a room where she would usually have one-on-ones with business advisors so they couldn’t intimidate her. Soundproof, and sealing any spiritual powers from leaking in or out. The room was ultimately secure, and they could easily move in or out almost on the level of a Shadow.
“Did you happen to sense anyone else outside of the people you killed?”
She starts, pouring her cup of tea to drink from, listening closely to whatever Dominic had to say. Whatever he had said to her, she would just ultimately have to make sure that any entities left in that area would be taken care of, or things would just go awry. After the conversation, Blume had set out her plans to send out Elende with Dominic to scatter large amounts of hollow bait in the area of intervention. Spiritual energy would be at a high, muddled with the disgusting ravenous maws that belonged to the hollows. Shizuka had seemed surprised that a lieutenant was taken out so easily by Dominic, and with his peers no less... Shinigami died to hollows more often than not, who was to say that the dear Lieutenant didn't perish while protecting his subordinates? And for those stragglers who may have seen Dominic... Well, they could just paint it in that same way once more.
Who was there to stop them after all?
a4e70dc33f05a64b13591b92bb7776f4.png

Getting the confirmation on the plans had solved one problem... Now, this next topic would be something else to discuss. Dominic was well aware of Shizuka's presence over the years, and to be completely fair if he didn't notice the number of visits after facing off with him in several masculinity competitions at a single glance -- a more than recent example not even ten minutes ago in the other room, then she didn't know what else to say. Dominic was her best friend, advisor, bodyguard, pretty much all of the above... How would he take the news of his Empress being pregnant, and by a Shinigami no less? Well, she may as well rip the bandaid off while the wound was apparent. She crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat, her legs swinging around and tucking themselves under her body.
“Other than today, you know that Quincy and Shinigami have left each other alone since Yhwach's defeat two thousand years ago. You know the stories of who defeated him... His origins-- his parents even. Well... Dominic. You'll have to stick a lot more closer to me because... I'm pregnant. I found out yesterday...”
Blume could feel her face getting red. Why the hell was this so embarrassing? It was honestly as if she were admitting this to her parents... The night with Jeuno and the armored soldiers could have killed her if she weren't so careful, but at the same time, she was careless, chasing after those who tried to assassinate her in a fit of annoyance. At least she knew then why she was so moody and pushy. But the sickness that surfaced in the middle of the night after she'd fallen asleep only confirmed it -- with a test. She was quiet, waiting on his reaction with bated breath. Did he even have to ask who the father was? Not that she wouldn't mind answering it, but the answer had been right in front of him not too long ago.

Once again, when Shizuka felt like his efforts were hopeless. The spark of vitality in his life came to reassure him once more. The passion the two beings displayed, was nothing short of magical. The vice captain feeling the tugging sensation of his woman, as she clenched his shihakusho. The way she submitted to his will in that very moment. It would almost make one forget the dire consequences, their relationship harbored. Especially the one that lied within the stomach of the Empress.
Shizuka was adamant on his promise though, especially with the recent news that he had just became aware of. The Quincies had to be protected in this specific juncture. The Lieutenant Katsuo Toshiyuki, sadly had to become a casualty to the nonsense of an ignorant, meathead Quincy. His death to the hands of a Quincy would spell nothing, but imminent war between the Quincy and Shinigami. Shizuka felt burdened with the task of keeping the lines divided while the Shinigami were somewhat, depleted. Was it his overwhelming love for Blume Diamonte that made him feel like this? Or, his innate fear to not disappoint the Captain Commander of the Soul Society, the man wearing the coat, Higen Kagayaki? He’d have to choose a side in the near future, but for now he was content on these course of actions.
After letting go from his sweet embrace with Blume, he witnessed as she began waving her arm upwards. Almost as if she were conjuring something. He turned his head around to witness the shadow that lingered behind him grow larger, emitting a fluctuation that was foreign to him. Before he knew it, he slowly felt his body being tugged into his own shadow. He looks forward to his lover once more, and she speaks out clearly-
“I can only give you a name. Providing you with a body for help is unfortunately outside of my jurisdiction...."
His venture here actually paid off, with a name he would be able to use his comrades to investigate further. The physical help didn’t bother him though. If it came down to it, Shizuka knew he could take care of things himself.
“Until I--... we see you again, my love.”
Before he could even respond he found himself, right where he was at the start of his revelation.
“That’s some secret exit, sheesh”
It was almost too perfect and useful, he felt as if he had came through a Garganta just then. Shizuka surveyed his surroundings, it was dark and murky between the two buildings he landed in between. That still didn’t stop the Lieutenant from remembering vividly where he left his device. He witnessed his Denreishinki on the ground, perfectly unscathed from where he left it off initially. After picking it up, he scrolled through the alerts he received while he was gone. Coming across a text from the “Advisor” that stated
“Stephania Shingetsu”
“Stephania Shingetsu…. Hmm..”

Shizuka had zero clue who this person was at all. Maybe he could get Twelfth Division’s intel on such a person, that’ll narrow down her location easier. While scrolling through his device, he immediately remembered that Captain Hageshi communicated with him that she was going to send help his way. Shizuka didn’t get a clear cut answer on when, or who was coming, but that was sort of the forgetful style she had about herself. He immediately reached out via message to Nibui Ueki and Jinnosuke Ueku, the Co-Lieutenants of 11th Division.
“ Yo, I received some info we can pounce on, whichever one of you is coming per Captain Hageshi's orders. Meet me at these specific coordinates in Naruki City. See ya there.”
After sending text, he went on his maps and signaled an obscure senkaimon opening they could use, something only few knew except those in 10th Division, and somewhat 13th. All they needed to do was, inform the handlers of the Senkaimon, and they'd be there in no time. It was evident that the Fullbringers were heavily populated in Naruki City, they always came out when danger preceded them. That was going to be his first designated area to look.
It was time for them to make their move though. Shizuka needed to clean up one more avenue, before he darted off to Naruki City. He needed to get in touch with Saiko Junsui. From what he sensed earlier, she was some distances away from Toshiyuki-san before the scramble. He needed to intercept her, before she reports back to her deceased superior. Thanks to the shadows, he was actually back closer to the area she was in. After being separated from her and the watchful eye of Kiku, by a plethora of miles at the Diamonte Manor. He made his way to track her down, bleeding into a shunpo, vanishing completely from sight.
Somewhere near Downtown Karakura
It didn’t take too much time for Shizuka, to locate the seated member’s reiatsu. His consecutive shunpos were clean and concise. Wasting no time or space with his jumps. His technique being so vastly improved over the years, he knew there was only one more level he had to get to.
Tch… Don’t let me see Captain Mukuro. I’m embarrassing him, I promise.
Those were just the childish thoughts he had laying within the depths of his mind. Even after becoming Lieutenant he had changed too much from the man he was years ago, hanging with his Captain and Lieutenant Kasumi. He knew in his heart though, even with his skill, he couldn’t give the Captain a challenge in speed. Though in Bankai, he knew the story would be different. Just the thought of that challenge pushed him further, and eventually he was reaching the borders of Karakura Town. With his investigation deep in his mind, he made his way to Naruki City.

Currently bored at her wits end due to nothing happening downtown Karakura, Not even a hollow had shown up nor did a single ghost spirit appear. .Saiko had a frustrated face appear, ‘ goddamn when will something happen?’ she thought to herself, however she felt her Lieutenant’s spiritual pressure went up drastically, she got worried, as she was about to remove herself to see what was happening at his end. This was until her Denshi got alert, which she quickly got out, nearly dropping it. An Alert appeared, saying the Thirteenth division needed help due a quincy in the area. Soon after the alert appeared, Katsuo’s pressure dwindled down entirely, not a trace. Saiko’s eyes widened at what happened, was Katsuo dead? No! It couldn’t be.
“Katsuo..? What happened… please...please respond by raising your pressure...again?”
She pleaded, hoping to feel his pressure again. No. Nothing happened, not even a spike in pressure to be detected. She hung her head low fighting her tears. That was until she felt another shinigami’s pressure, she turned to face the other, which she completely got blindsided by him, though she did catch the glimpse of him just beforehand. Green haired male, with pale blue eyes, giant at that. She heard his voice, saying.
“Urgent Business, I need you.”
What could Shizuka wanted with Saiko, and at that she got dragged off to another destination, Naruki City. Her groups looked all confused and worried once they found out Saiko had gone “Missing” from her post. They all began to run around panicking, some decided to try to contact the Soul society with their Denshi’s telling both Saiko had gone missing.
On the way to Naruki city, Saiko regained her lost sightedness and snapped at Lieutenant Hyouzoka. There was no way that he was able to travel that fast from Naruki city to here right? she looked confused, looking at him. Inhaling in some air, she caught a wiff, it smelled like a female's perfume of some sort, Saiko's nose can be sensitive at times. Ah, He was seeing some human? behind our backs? she looked at him with unimpressed face.
“Let me go, you smell like...a female...did you put on perfume?!!”

Details of Death
Dominic waited patiently for Blume to finish her business with the Shinigami, having lived for hundreds of years they act as if their mere presence deserves respect. All Dominic could hope for now is an order to go after this man the moment he left their home. In time the man seemed to vanish from the area, Dominic only knew this because of his close proximity to him. Shortly after Blume exits the room and approaches Dominic.
“I’m really happy you’re safe… Come with me. I have some things to discuss with you. You can also tell me what happened in detail...”
Blume takes him into a separate room where they can talk in private without unneeded disturbances. He takes a seat as she fixes some tea, meanwhile, he stares off into space for a moment to collect his thoughts. Luckily everything happened fast so he didn’t have to worry about missing any details.
“Did you happen to sense anyone else outside of the people you killed?”
Dominic speaks without an ounce of attitude. He is respectful, speaks clearly so that Blume can understand everything he is saying without her having to ask to repeat himself.
”No, I eradicated all the Shinigami in the immediate area. As for how it started… Well… I was out jogging, and spotted a blonde haired Shinigami in the sky headed somewhere. I assumed we were still being kind and understanding with one another so I asked if I could tag along with him, just to have a reason to move about in the sky for a little bit. I even agreed not to attack a single Hollow if we were to encounter one, I was every bit as respectful and kind as I could be.”
He sighs and his demeanor seems to sour, it is obvious he is upset with how things went down.
”For whatever reason the guy drew his Zanpakuto, aimed it at me and had his troops surround me. He said to me: ‘I'm so sorry, I must… follow my orders or… my own life will be at stake. Are you coming with me, Willingly, or must we fight…our new head-captain has given his orders and we must follow it….’ It sounded like his higher ups made the call to attack us on sight. After that I killed him and his troops. Say what you will Empress but I do not trust a Shinigami pointing their damn Zanpakuto at me, excuse my language. Any number of things could have happened in that moment, I could have been hypnotized, shot by a laser, some elemental blast, who knows. I couldn’t risk finding out so I struck first, the Shinigami are going to skew this to be our fault but it seems like they are ready to kill us anyway. That's it for my report.”
After speaking he grabs the cup of tea in front of him and takes a sip. He sets it down and waits for Blume to respond to the report but she then speaks to him about something else, something that catches him off guard. He lets her speak without interrupting her.
A Damning Truth
Dominic sits in silence, absorbing this info, putting it together in his mind. He leans forward, placing his forearms on his knees while his fingers tap against one another. He leans back, inhales deeply then exhales, grabs the cup of tea and downs it all in one gulp. He sets it down one final time and looks directly into Blume’s eyes.
”Blume… What the actual hell? If any Shinigami or Quincy finds out about this they’ll go for your head. As Empress you have to preach about the Echt Quincy (Pure Blood) and their superiority, but… What you're pregnant with is beyond a Gemischt Quincy (Mixed Blood). I chose to follow you, hell you helped me live out my dream of becoming a MMA champion and when I was done with that I put my heart and soul into being a Quincy as repayment for that. Blume, knowing this, knowing what you’re carrying… It’s good to follow your heart, love who you want to love so long as it doesn’t harm anyone… But... In my good conscience as a Pure Blood Quincy I… I can’t say that I can continue following you as the Empress…”
He falls silent, looking away from her. It was heavy to say but this man has no filter, he speaks his mind and if that is how he felt then Blume had to know this. However, he wasn't finished speaking as he looked at her again, into her eyes.
”I cannot follow you as the Empress of Quincy, however, you are still my friend and I will follow you because of that reason alone. I’m no snake, no traitor, or backstabber that's why I can’t fully abandon you and why I will never tell another soul about this. I’ll protect you and your kid cause you’re my friend, but, if that's grounds to strip me of the power you gave me then so be it.”
Dominic then sits in silence waiting for her response to everything he has said. It surely had to be a lot to take in. He has just told her he will not follow her as the Empress of Quincy, essentially renouncing his allegiance to the Empire, and yet, he still wishes to remain her loyal friend despite that. If anything Dominic is bold for saying such things, but he is honest, he speaks purely from his heart.

She listens quietly as Dominic speaks as he recounts the events that happened to him, from the beginning, to what was said in between them, down to the end. She can only exhale, letting her head drop back. While he may have gotten rid of those in the immediate area if the lieutenant or his subordinates had done anything to alert those around them with their spiritual pressure or by their phones, then how long would they have? Shizuka could only do so much, and he was already out of his jurisdiction. If those from the Thirteenth saw him, what exactly would his reasons be for being here? She waves her hand in a small motion as if it were something to be dealt with at another time.
Blume tells Dominic her secret, and she watches closely for his reaction. At first, she’s met with silence, one so quiet a pin drop could echo off of the walls around them. He’s thinking extremely hard, and she runs her finger against the rim of her cup when he downs his drink in one go and meets her gaze.
She nods softly. What he says is true, and it was something that had been drilled into her since she was born: that because of her pureblood she was perfect; because of her pureblood, it was that blood running through her veins that gave her this power, but that would be a lie. She gained this strength alone, she practiced alone, she trained alone, she spent well over half of her life in solitude, building everything she could from the ground up. Here was the mistake that many made about her. When she was born, she was an outcast and did everything that she could to get noticed, to show that she could be useful to her family… Yet, they were going to sell her away when she was of age because it would have been the least that she could have done was make use of her body… for the good of the Quincy. Hell, after Hell on Earth arrived that day and after they managed to reconvene and recover, a lost Dominic found himself in her office, questioning his purpose.
Quote: “Dominic, if you find yourself inadequate, then don’t you dare take a step from this room. Rather than be a casualty, at least stay alive to ensure you can provide quiet life for your future offspring. The Echt are scarce as is. Don’t rush into something that you aren’t ready to give your life for.”
Recalling that particular conversation causes her to rub at the back of her neck. It was his choice on whether or not to continue following her. She’d held up her end of the deal as he’d said, allowing him to live his dreams before he gave her servitude in return. Known for never having a filter, it was the least that she could have expected as he looks away, yet it seems as though he isn’t finished as he locks eyes with her once more.
“I cannot follow you as the Empress of Quincy, however, you are still my friend and I will follow you because of that reason alone. I’m no snake, no traitor, or backstabber that's why I can’t fully abandon you and why I will never tell another soul about this. I’ll protect you and your kid cause you’re my friend, but, if that's grounds to strip me of the power you gave me then so be it.”
Blume can’t help but laugh, throwing her head back and letting it all out, even going so far as to keep back forward in order to keep her giggles in but to no avail could she hold it back. It takes a bit for her to settle and she reaches over the table to grab his hand and brings it to where the back of his hand is pressed against her forehead. Such a gesture was very limited, a sign of respect that she gives to those closest to her, yet the only one applicable to claim so would be Dominic. He truly was one of a kind, and she was more than happy to have found him all those years ago. To be completely honest, the thought of stripping him of his powers hadn’t crossed her mind.
“My dearest friend, you are more than anything I deserve…” She positions herself upright and pours herself and him another glass of tea. “You are correct in saying this child inside of me is beyond a Gemischt. There’s only been a single case like this before. While there is no guarantee that the possibility of having the same outcome, they will be more powerful than what any of us can imagine.”
She runs her fingers through her hair and takes another sip of her tea.
“That’s what part of me is saying: to use them as a tool to raise in secret for the Quincy, but there’s also a part of me that desires a safe life for this little one because I don’t want them to suffer the way I did. Bringing them into this world would put them in so much danger, but I can’t help but feel a little selfish for wanting them.”
The Quincy were of no Shinigami’s concern as of now… not yet anyway. Feeling her emotions beginning to go awry, Blume is quick to clear her throat and sniff away what dared to escape. There was another matter at hand that needed to be tended to. Unfortunate things had to be done. Almost out of thin air, Blume pulls out several small disks that were no larger than a quarter.
“Hollow bait. Those Shinigami you eradicated had to have been wiped out by something. While I’m sure that you didn’t use your powers, we can still mask it to make it look like a patrol gone wrong. We set these off in several areas, especially around your interaction zone, and hordes of Hollows will come seeping out. Living and deceased humans will be targeted… and while that is not what I have preached, to keep you and my people safe, I will do what I have to.”
From behind her, Elende appears in a quiet summons with his hands extended as several others dressed in the same garb mimic him, and around ten of these figures possess their own hollow bait. One by one, they would disappear, taking different time intervals in order to release the bait. In normal circumstances, hollow bait would be used to attract low-level and weak hollows. However, due to the numbers being used, that high amount of concentrated bait being spread across Karakura Town in its entirety would pull in a larger, more powerful entity for the Shinigami to deal with, if they could deal with it. But Karakura Town would not be the only one affected. Unfortunately, Naruki City would also have to play a subsequent part in her plan. Both civilizations have been hotspots for heinous otherworldly activity. Perhaps it was just a second coming of Hell on Earth. The Shinigami would surely have the firepower to deal with them… Right?
Blume thought back to the few words exchanged just before Shizuka left.
Quote: “You don’t have to do any work.”
While he may have promised her safety at this time, who’s to say that his beloved Captain-Commander would not make the Quincy their next target? Would Shizuka choose to abandon his people? His life? Maybe he had already done so by having this relationship with her and conceiving this child. Would he sacrifice everything for her? She had no definite answer, nothing that would scream “yes” in her face. If he had somehow perished… Will anyone know of what was between them? What they had created?
“We will stay for the time being, in Karakura to both see this out and the Shinigami’s response. To my knowledge, Lukas, Dimitri, and Jeuno are currently residing in the Schatten Bereich. Other than you and myself, the others haven’t interacted with Shinigami. Our already limited contact with them is scarce, save for a few battles in the distant past. Time runs faster in the Soul Society from what I remember Hyouzoku-kun telling me, like how it does in the Schatten Bereich, so perhaps what little knowledge they had of us is nonexistent to them now. They might just consider us dead in the first place, but we can never be too sure.”
Since Elende’s departure, hollows have begun sprouting through gargantas in the area where Dominic had encountered Katsuo. Big, small, fast, slow, ugly creatures of departed souls that refused to move on and became corrupted plague Karakura, and in simultaneous waves, Naruki City, surmounting up to five in total. Small rifts begin piling one right after the other as hollows claw and crawl over each other in order to get a taste of a soul. Just how badly would Blume's work send the world of the living into chaos?
