The sound of his heart beating was loud in her ears as if it were being played through a speaker. Panic? Perhaps. Excitement? Maybe. She had wanted to surprise him at a later date when she was more presentable but he’d come so quickly and events were beginning to fall like dominoes and she was unsure as to where this would have fallen in line, so she chose to bring it up now. Ten years of intimate moments, long nights and gentle mornings waking up with him at her side had finally resulted in something… taboo.
“Okay my love, I promise you and Dominic will be absolved from the situation. I give you my word.”
He speaks, yet his mind is elsewhere as he rubbed at her stomach and she looked down in between them, eyeing his hands while they roamed and she felt a small weight lift off of her shoulders for the moment. Perhaps… if they were normal people, this would be more enjoyable, more sincere. However, neither were normal. Members of two different races have met once again and fallen down the rabbit hole, both unable to resurface and stop it before anything permanent happened. A tale as old as time, she could only recall the single entity from long ago that had been a product of the same fate.
“The shinigami are probably in a scramble now, with what Dominic just did. Let me out through a secret way, so I can avoid suspicion from the Shinigami. When I retrieve my device, I need you to relay extensive information on these Fullbringers we need to track down. Also, I’m going to need you to have someone deployable to help if we get outgunned.”
She says nothing as he relays his requests, only listening quietly as he then lifts her hand to his mouth to place a kiss against it. He’d finally snapped out of his stupor, and she tilts her head slightly, watching his every move. When he speaks once more--
“You don’t need to do any work.”
-- his lips then crash against hers. Her eyes widen just ever so slightly, staring down at him as he loses himself into her… and she melts slowly into the kiss, her fingers curling into the fabric of his shihakusho while his hands cup her face to hold her in place. They linger, and she savors the closeness between them before he ultimately pulls away to begin his work. Blume is quick to work, immediately waving her right hand in the direction of the wall behind him where his Shadow grows far above his head. Leaving through a shadow would ultimately hide his presence entering and leaving the area. An absolute depletion of any spiritual signature would cease to exist until complete resurfacing.
“I can only give you a name. Providing you with a body for help is unfortunately outside of my jurisdiction. Until I--... we see you again, my love.”
And when he finally disappeared, Shizuka would find himself close to his last location, hidden within an alleyway on a busy street where the foot traffic was heavy. Once he is gone, Blume feels her shoulders sink and she tilts her head back, sighing heavily before she moves from that room to find Dominic who isn’t too far off, standing far down the hall where he strongly gave the two their privacy. On the trek there, Blume sends a singular message to Shizuka that only says: Stephania Shingetsu, and pockets her phone. Blume appears behind Dominic, placing her hand on his shoulder and smiling softly at him.
“I’m really happy you’re safe… Come with me. I have some things to discuss with you. You can also tell me what happened in detail...”
Her voice drops down to a whisper and she pulls him into a separate room where neither would be disturbed, hopefully again. She fixed them some tea, quietly pouring him a glass and sitting it in front of him at the coffee table that sat in the center of the room. It was a room where she would usually have one-on-ones with business advisors so they couldn’t intimidate her. Soundproof, and sealing any spiritual powers from leaking in or out. The room was ultimately secure, and they could easily move in or out almost on the level of a Shadow.
“Did you happen to sense anyone else outside of the people you killed?”
She starts, pouring her cup of tea to drink from, listening closely to whatever Dominic had to say. Whatever he had said to her, she would just ultimately have to make sure that any entities left in that area would be taken care of, or things would just go awry. After the conversation, Blume had set out her plans to send out Elende with Dominic to scatter large amounts of hollow bait in the area of intervention. Spiritual energy would be at a high, muddled with the disgusting ravenous maws that belonged to the hollows. Shizuka had seemed surprised that a lieutenant was taken out so easily by Dominic, and with his peers no less... Shinigami died to hollows more often than not, who was to say that the dear Lieutenant didn't perish while protecting his subordinates? And for those stragglers who may have seen Dominic... Well, they could just paint it in that same way once more.
Who was there to stop them after all?
Getting the confirmation on the plans had solved one problem... Now, this next topic would be something else to discuss. Dominic was well aware of Shizuka's presence over the years, and to be completely fair if he didn't notice the number of visits after facing off with him in several masculinity competitions at a single glance -- a more than recent example not even ten minutes ago in the other room, then she didn't know what else to say. Dominic was her best friend, advisor, bodyguard, pretty much all of the above... How would he take the news of his Empress being pregnant, and by a Shinigami no less? Well, she may as well rip the bandaid off while the wound was apparent. She crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat, her legs swinging around and tucking themselves under her body.
“Other than today, you know that Quincy and Shinigami have left each other alone since Yhwach's defeat two thousand years ago. You know the stories of who defeated him... His origins-- his parents even. Well... Dominic. You'll have to stick a lot more closer to me because... I'm pregnant. I found out yesterday...”
Blume could feel her face getting red. Why the hell was this so embarrassing? It was honestly as if she were admitting this to her parents... The night with Jeuno and the armored soldiers could have killed her if she weren't so careful, but at the same time, she was careless, chasing after those who tried to assassinate her in a fit of annoyance. At least she knew then why she was so moody and pushy. But the sickness that surfaced in the middle of the night after she'd fallen asleep only confirmed it -- with a test. She was quiet, waiting on his reaction with bated breath. Did he even have to ask who the father was? Not that she wouldn't mind answering it, but the answer had been right in front of him not too long ago.
