Was he really this out of shape? Or was Sora simply so outclassed by Shusuke that he didn’t see the trap when it was set? No, of course he hadn’t seen the trap get set beneath all this thick smog, difficult to sense anything let alone see it coming, but that was no excuse. As his hands threw open the elastic Tsuriboshi, Sora had kept in mind the weight of spiritual power that he could already feel setting in, still taking several cuts from pieces of rock that the sudden combo from the aggressive duo had unleashed. In other circumstances dodging a few rocks, even big ones, would have been simple work, but Shusukes reiatsu would hinder this movement and Sora knew that. Putting in nearly all his physical effort to throw the Kido up as quickly as possible, wanting only to lessen the blow he knew he couldn’t dodge. That was until a white hot flash of searing pain pierced his chest. From behind? No, Sora instinctively looked towards the source of the pain and saw the last trails of pale lightning entering from the front, meaning.. Sora looked forward one last time to realize the lighting had pierced through his Kido in order to tag him, and the largest bits of the shrapnel were already colliding and beginning to tear through it.
He may have managed to slow the speed of the giant rocks that quickly found their way to make contact with Sora after they had ripped through the Tsuriboshi, but it certainly wouldn’t feel like it from Sora’s perspective. Feeling the pain in what seemed like slow motion as several ribs cracked, if not broke right on impact, only sending Sora hurling and rolling across the grounds and through the smoke until he himself slammed into the wall on the opposite side of the grounds. It had been awhile since Sora had been so clearly and quickly outdone, not since his time in the academy, only proving he still had much to learn. Now he lay on his side with his back against the wall he was forced into, cracks beginning to spiderweb themselves across the wall as his blood ran from his mouth and the few cuts and scrapes he had acquired on his impactful journey. Not just this, but despite already being in a thick heavy smoke, now his sight was struggling to stay focused, fading in and out with the new pounding in his head. Sora managed to find a modicum of strength enough to push himself upright, but barely even managing to hold his head and neck steady as he propped himself up sitting against the wall, he knew he was a bit too roughed up to continue, at least for now.
At this point, Sora felt more than a bit disappointed with how things played out, though it was always a pleasure to see Shusuke in action and learn something, this was just disappointing. Sora could only hope that the other two were faring better. Hideaki had been gone for so long and Sora knew not how much stronger or more skilled the guy had gotten, only that he gave a more seasoned and serious aura than what he remembered. Jatiri and Sora had only met recently and thus he knew little about Lieutenant Shuske’s subordinate, however the man had respect from Shusuke and seemed to work closely with him, so he had to have caught the attention of Shuske for some reason, and Sora didn’t feel comfortable doubting one’s skills when he had never witnessed them. Sora on the other hand, he had been caught off guard by the uninvited duo and paid the price, something he would almost certainly scold himself more than any other could, as though this could and would well be considered a learning experience to Sora, the flavor of the blood in his mouth seemed to taste more of failure than ever before.
