Northeast Seireitei———————————— traveling to ———————————— Southwest Seireitei
Dark clouds, bleak vapors, ominous winds…
He loved this method of travel. It was like floating along the water's surface in his wading pond in his family estate back in the Rukongai. He used to spend most of his free time as a youth in that pond, playing with and trying to catch the joints that dwelled in its waters. White in color, they were truly rare fish that his father admired, which he grew to love well. His reiryoku filled the atmosphere, the dark smoke would file in a large but thin layer of vapor. Once he entered an eye shot of the immediate entrance of the Sixth' Divisions barracks he would re-materialize his body into its solid form, starting from his feet, ending at his scalp. He still held the cigar in his mouth, now nearly down to the butt, he walked as he re-materialized right before the sentries stationed at the entrance. They'd seen this before but not within the same One Hundred Years. Shusuke Kiyoshi had gone back to his home division.
The barracks had remained unchanged in his purview, the cherry blossoms had stayed tended to like he had discussed with the groundsman. It was a rather
stern conversation although it would be from a former member, Shusuke Kiyoshi still held a phenomenal reputation among most of his peers.
"Lieutenant Kiyoshi! What a surprise no one told us you were coming! What brings you by?"
He pauses before passing by them completely, taking some time to finish his cigar before entering the compound. He wanted to have the air of responsibility that should befit that of a Shinigami of his rank. Taking the final drag, giving a final harsh tingle at the back of his throat before his calm exhale towards his former division mates. He looked back at them with calm purple hues, and a grin that could cut tension in even the darkest of places.
"Someone informs you of my arrival now…? Not sure if I'll get used to that. I just came by to speak with Sora, where can I find him?"
"He’s in the yard teaching kido to the squad. Got a mess of 'em out there too, almost like you a century back.”
He paused before answering. A century. It's been a seamless transition into his new duties within the Ninth Division, much of the same freedom but with actual consequences of failure should he not aim for exceedingly plentiful results. He, among his other Lieutenant peers, had a demanding Captain. A seemingly amicable issue should the proper parameters be met and a level of understanding is had of both individuals, along with a broad level of respect of one another are keys to a great partnership. In Shusuke’s case, it's his capabilities as a “babysitter” that help keep the overactive imagination of his superior on even and the adolescent minds of his subordinates in check. He simply chuckled to this thought, be it the herbs he inhaled prior or the joke itself it was truly laughable of how he was promoted to be reduced. He loved it however, and enjoyed the Ninth’s youthful exuberance. Keeping him creative and excited to try new things, the change wasn’t so bad at all.
"Hahahahaha…..Yeah. Something like that. I’ll catch up with you guys later. I’ll still need a drink from the mess hall.”
Walking past them, patting one on the shoulder as he passed, he quickly proceeded as if he was still active in the barracks. knowing all the shortcuts, and small hallways that helped him navigate moving from one end of the Division to the other, whether it was having to leave or enter. Purposely taking the long way around to say if anything had changed, it hadn’t. For some reason that made him happy, this was one of the divisions that didn't necessarily need to stand out in his eyes. Its blandness added to the reputation, as the old saying goes,
”what you see is what you get”. Finally breaking into the courtyard, the cherry blossoms littered the sekiseki walls and swayed in the breeze as the sun gleamed down into the yard. Many shinigami were in groups practicing to hone their inner skills, some triumphed, others simply needed further study. Needless to say it was a sight that he welcomed, a new generation of adjudicators, esquires, and
Bengoshi.
He quickly found one of his own not so new recruits from a century back, now grown into his new role as the new Third of Sixth, the air about him was more confident and certain. It was familiar, as if he had almost looked into a mirror. As he stepped onto the grass it didn't take long for others to take notice of his arrival, while some senior members knew who he was, the recruits were playing pick up as to why everyone had suddenly stopped practicing their reiatsu training. Paying them no mind at all, walking past the lot of them heading straight for Sora leaving a sea of silence in his wake. It would be deafening, he would’ve noticed before Shusuke had even reached but all the same, his long strides allowed him quick paced movement to face his friend.
"Hey Sora, I hope you dont take it this easy on them all the time. I know I used to come down a little harder on you all than this.”
He said jokingly. He was really happy to see him in his adjusted role. The transition was so sudden he had little time to educate him on some matters, but keeping an eye from a distance, he heard of his exploits and figured that the dark-haired Bengoshi would be fine with a little trial by fire. He noticed a white haired individual near him and gave him a small nod of respect, but otherwise directed his entire focus and attention on Sora.
