The transition of responsibility over Eizoku Yugameru proceeds to go smoothly, as the Captain steps to the side to allow the two parties to depart. A freshened Eizoku steps out from the room, adorned in the new robes gifted to him by the Captain. In return for saving his life, presenting him the very clothes he wears on his back, as well as ensuring a safe handover to the Kido Corps, Yū receives possibly the most unexpected and unwanted gift in exchange, second only to actual physical assault.
"For an individual of your caliber, surely you are able to deduce when an individual is telling a falsehood. Surely you are able to pry deeper into one's mental plane and mindset with your level of skill if you so desired. You were unable to detect any signs of deceit or any of the instinctive bodily reactions that occur when someone lies, yet you chose…”
With every passing word, the Captain’s eyes grow more flat, almost as if his very life was being drained from his body. If there was one thing the boy hated more than plain arrogance, it was unprovoked lectures birthed from ignorance. Berated by a man of lower rank, who still at this point is considered a fugitive, on the protocol of a division he didn’t lead- nor is even a part of, only minutes after kneeling in front of the same person they decided to give this unwarranted advice… Yū struggles to hold back a large groan but that itself is more than evident on his weary expression.

‘Maybe I should have prepared a mental health assessment for him…’
He couldn’t be too upset at his choice of words— It was common knowledge to him that trauma patients often underwent potent mood swings, growing irritated at the most minute of actions. Perhaps he was taking this moment to further reassure the Kido Corps that he was still the same, arrogant man from a century ago; Or perhaps it was their presence and their need to keep him alive that gave him the sudden dose of bravado to taunt the doctor within his own hospital.
"...admittedly somewhat disappointed that the Kido Prince whom I studied and kept track of so intently, would follow the stereotypical path that most of Soul Society does.”

From what Yū could gather, there was little he could think of about the procedure that would disappoint him enough to deliver an entire dissertation. Was he not shown enough attention? It seemed Eizoku was more shocked that the Captain did… what he was told, and not more, which would result in stepping on the toes of another agency. It was true Yū could easily do their duties singlehandedly and arguably just as efficiently… but where was the need? Perhaps that was what irritated Eizoku so— the lack of Yū’s interest in perusing within his mind. The lack of asking more questions, asking what happened… especially from the very person he had “studied and kept track of so intently.” Even Yū would be rightfully devastated if one of his so-called idols had disregarded him so… and this was the very reason the Captain had stopped putting others on pedestals years and years ago, especially once he became their peer rather than their subordinate. Soon, the realization of his own insignificance would dawn on Eizoku— soon, he’d come to realize his role to be much smaller than whatever grandeur narrative he had settled on… after the Kido Corps were finished with him.
More exhausted at the idea of asking specifically what he meant in fear of another long-winded explanation for his “disappointment”, the Captain instead responds with a...
“Noted.”
...and a weak smile before motioning for the now organized party to leave.

In the lobby a new party forms, two unfamiliar presences meeting at the hospital’s entrance— Signy Hoshi of the 7th Division and Uzu Ogawa of the 9th Division with the former carrying another. This last presence however is hauntingly quiet, at first glance, possibly unconscious and upon a second look, undeniably dead.
“Excuse me, but I require your Captain.”
Two nurses that have lingered around the front desk instantly turn their heads to face the entering trio. It isn’t until she continues on...
“Seventh Division requires an autopsy for Captain Itsuki Asakura.”
… that they jump into action, one female nurse calling on the others present to assist and the other one raising a hand to his mouth, before he rushes down the hall in search of Captain Nakamoto.

It’s only after all of the members of the Fifth Division are out of sight does the Captain let out a deep sigh before resting against the nearest wall, his back leaning flat and head pointed upwards. He can barely register a second breath before...

“Captain Nakamoto."
... another presence makes itself known in the opposite direction of the traveling party. Though it’s been years since he has dealt with any from this division, the Onmitsukido emblem etched onto their headband is instantly recognized by the Captain, met with an arched eyebrow. They don’t leave an instance to ask questions, informing him immediately of their sudden and unusual appearance.
“-you are hereby ordered by Commander Kagayaki to report to the meeting hall at the First Division. That is all.”
He doesn’t know exactly what to feel, how to feel at the surprise of this request… and it’s urgency. Another lecture? For years, the boy had stayed consistent— on routine, within appropriate protocol. He refused to allow this request for a meeting to further plague him with anxiety, no doubt it was just a general check on the Captains. Of course it was, since it had been so long from their last encounter. Or maybe it was for something greater? Would it end the same way as the last? ’No... he thinks, reaching one arm behind his back to lightly graze his zanpakutō tied to his back. That wasn’t Higen’s style... as far as he was aware. But, it had been so many years since he had last seen most of them, save for Yasu’s sporadic appearances… well, everywhere. Perhaps the Captain Higen he once knew had changed when he formally evolved into Commander Kagayaki. Assumedly, more stern, more dominant… more brutal.
Yū bites his lip in slight irritation, aware that refusal to comply isn’t an option nor ever would be. With a slight nod in response to the agent’s solemn bow, he disappears, leaving Yū to his thoughts. But even that time is once more robbed as…
“Captain!”
… another voice cries out from the opposite of the hall. He turns to answer to the source of this call as the nurse comes to a screeching halt.
“Your presence is requested in the lobby… someone from the Seventh Division.”
“For?”
“Well… they’re requesting an autopsy for-”

Unaware of the calamity that has erupted in the lobby, Junko Izumi and Mizu Sayuri hand in hand skip down the hallway in glee in celebration of a newfound friendship. While under other circumstances where this would be celebrated by the Captain, today is not that day as he is quick to cut down whatever remains of their displayed joy with surprising harshness. Yū's march is authoritarian, his tone alike to a dictator's.
“You two. Follow me.”
It isn’t until the pair abide and come within earshot does the Captain continue issuing orders while keeping the same hurried pace, the nurse still following as intended.
“Repeat word for word what you told me to them.”
Still rolling in shock, his adrenaline coming to an all high, the words struggle to leave his lips a second time, stuttering every now and then upon his retelling.
“Captain Asakura h-has been brought in d-dead... Se… venth Division has ordered an autopsy a-as soon as possible.”
156c1fbef7bf0b7cb4427c64451fd5d4.png

“Junko Izumi, you’ll be leading the autopsy with Mizu Sayuri shadowing you. Gather who you need to assist— I want a thorough report brought to me as well as whoever will be investigating when you’re finished, including a probable time of death. They don’t seem to know how he died so I suspect this happened long before today. Commander Kagayaki has called for a meeting I must attend… but, I fear something tells me he doesn’t know quite yet given the form of delivery.”
He stops just before entering the lobby, turning to face the following trio. In a hushed voice, he approaches Junko specifically now to offer her reassurance in the coming storm.
“I trust you understand the importance of this and why I’m appointing you to lead it. No one has better knowledge than you, otherwise I wouldn’t ask.”
He now turns to face Mizu who most likely is overwhelmed by the sudden seriousness in the air. In an attempt to ease the growing stress, Yū offers a lighthearted comment to the Shinigami.
“Lucky day for you— you get to see a pro at work. I’ll see you both as soon as I’m done ”
He turns again facing away from them and continues down the hallway until they enter the lobby, greeted by a huddle of nurses who have now rolled out a navy colored gurney for Signy to place her Captain's body on top of. Yū approaches the Hoshi and her escort directly however wastes no time introducing himself; He merely allows his haori to speak for itself to alert the patiently waiting duo to who exactly he is.
“I've already been made aware of this situation. Unfortunately, I'm unable to perform it as I'm preoccupied but..."
He pauses and raises a hand to motion towards Junko.
"... Third Seat Junko Izumi here will be leading the autopsy, so any other information you may have or anything you'll need from here on out goes through her. And...”
He hesitates, taking his first up close look at the body. The bush of orange hair and white haori are distinguishable enough to make him recognizable to Yū... despite their sparse interactions. Even though he is no stranger to lifeless bodies, the sight of Itsuki's eerie stillness, the lack of his signature, dastardly cackling.. coupled with the adornment of his haori, make him wince for a moment. The death of a Captain was a rare occurrence— rightfully so, and from even this distance, the Doctor can tell it was a violent ending for his former peer. Even though the Mad Dog was notorious for sniffing up trouble... just what did he stumble on that was strong enough to overpower even him? And who would be next?
“... sorry for your loss.”
With a final, dignified nod to Signy, the Captain's form melts into the air leaving Junko at the helm in his stead. He was more than confident she would not disappoint.
From exhaustion to growing anxiousness straight to shock, the Captain has long learned to easily process the emotional whiplash that would otherwise cripple most Shinigami within seconds as he begins his departure. He no longer had expectations from what was to come next— he could never have guessed the sudden presentation of Captain Asakura's corpse, so he wasted no time in guessing or theorizing what was to come when he arrived at the hall.
The only thing he hoped for, the only thing he could hope for at the very least, was that it didn't get worse.

It took little time for the man to appear to breathe a little easier, going along with Junko's strange behavior. His question needed no reply from Junko, its answer evident as their Captain strode down the hallway with a serious look not often found on him. Halting so suddenly after the rapid motion she squared her lower body, preparing for the weight and impact of Mizu if he were caught unaware and did not stop in time. He would find a surprisingly unyielding wall in the form of Junko. Her center of gravity focused around her hips, she would not move if he hit her without any pause at all. Eyes focused on the Captain as he spoke to them she gave a quick bow before her hand let go of Mizu's. Turning on her heel she looked to Mizu kindly though the brightness upon her face had faded into focus.
"Sir,"
With a simple word she addressed his command as well as verified her compliance. Though a harsh tone was used to address them that matched the look upon his face Junko did not feel as though she had been reprimanded or that he was even angry with her. Although they displayed it differently, it was a likeness she shared with their Captain. Her silly behavior was how she wanted to behave. The uneventful moments where they could relax should be filled with happiness. Such demeanor was abruptly abandoned in the face of an arising situation. She believed he knew her well enough she did not need to be told when to behave accordingly. It was a natural and immediate shift, giving the moment all the attention and seriousness is demanded.
Though she wished to speak with him even for just a moment about Omoni's promotion and sudden leave there was obviously no time for such a conversation. Following along after him she looked to the nurse he had requested repeat herself. She had few moments to be somewhat caught of guard, no time to ponder how such an event could happen without anyone being aware until after the fact. His orders began nearly immediately after the brief report was given. Something appeared to be bothering him more than what they were faced with now, more than a sudden meeting being called. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what the issue was, though it seemed to be something more of an anger or annoyance at something in particular. He was not one to become so ruffled by a simple slight, leaving her to wonder what snowball effect he saw arising from what he had experienced. Once more, it was not the time nor place to question it.
Usually one to confirm her given task she remained silent as it seemed he had more to say, stopping to turn and face those that had been following behind him. In another light, she might have smiled and felt happiness at his praise. There was no opportunity to feel such emotions. Junko needed to remain focused on what lie before her now, eyes peeking into the main lobby as she appraised the situation as best she could. As the Captain stepped forward to inform the waiting woman of the plan Junko pulled on the nurse's sleeve that stood beside her.
"Gurney,"
Uttering the word quietly as to not disturb those before her but filled with a level of urgency. With that she approached as well, keeping a few paces away as the Captain continued to speak. A small bow at the mention of her name before her focus honed in on the body being cradled before them. Lowering her upper body in respect to her Captain's retreating back she straightened herself just in time for the nurse to return to her side. It was obvious she had rushed but her approach had been quieted and respectful. Wordlessly Junko took control of the wheeled bed, easily turning it so she would stand on the opposite side of it as she pulled it between her and the Seventh Division woman. Opening her hands in a welcoming gesture, awaiting the surrender of his body to her care. Uncertain of her relationship to the deceased man she did not wish to rush her nor be careless with her emotions as she asked for his remains to be relinquished. Typically a soft smile would have come to her face as further reassurance, however the woman seemed to exude more anger than despair. She did not want to appear uncaring or flippant in the face of a possibly volatile shinigami.
Feeling slightly guilty over dismissing Mizu for so long she hoped he would understand her actions. It would be inappropriate for her to speak with him freely in such a scenario. Unprofessional. Uncaring to the deceased and those perhaps close to him. They would have time to speak in private during the autopsy. Not a very pleasant task yet helpful for those with little experience. As she waited to see how the woman would react her eyes glanced over the man to gather a general idea of what she was looking at. It was obvious by the overly tattered clothing it had been violent, though with the lack of bloating in particular it was nearly impossible that he had met his end very long ago. There was much more to learn however the rest would be done in a respectable privacy. Outside of that there was still the Ninth Division member lurking about in the lobby, notepad in hand.
Mmmk.png

"Do you require medical assistance?"
It would seem out of character for one such as her but Junko's face turned hard as stone as her eyes landed on the man's face, asking the simple question with a flat tone. Though he was simply doing his job and this was quite clearly a subject worthy of having a story written about it, having an unrelated party looking over the corpse of the Captain seemed disrespectful to her. She pondered over erecting security measures around the room where they would be working to keep such people from seeing any more until he was no longer in her care.

In a lobby so full of motion and life, Signy stood stoic, appearing fully detached from the situation at hand. Some part of her was acutely aware of how odd she would appear to those around her. Not an ounce of emotion playing out across her face. Her father had always attempted to raise her to keep her cards hidden, in a manner of speaking. Though she hadn’t understood or even cared in her increasingly violent youth, those lessons became second nature now. She did, however, allow herself a moment of relief as Captain Nakamoto entered the lobby and approached them. Usually she would have bowed, as was only proper in the presence of a captain but was presently unable to for obvious reasons.
Instead, she merely bowed her head in respect before returning her gaze to his as he spoke. Her heart sank at the news that Yu wouldn’t be able to perform the autopsy himself, but she supposed if he trusted his third seat enough to allow her to perform something this important than she would also put her utmost trust in her. As he shared his condolences with her, she allowed her eyes to drift back down to the body in her arms.
”While I appreciate the sentiment, I’m afraid it’s lost on me. I wasn’t particularly close with my captain. Thank you though for helping me take care of this matter quickly.”
She bowed her head once more in response to his nod and departure. Turning her attention to Junko just in time to see her move the gurney between them, she thought for a moment that if it had been Atsuko standing here with the body, she would rather have carried him into the room herself. Debating for a moment, she finally decided it was best and a show of faith to relinquish him over to them, so she gently lowered his body onto gurney.
”I am truly sorry for disrupting your day like this.”
She paused for a moment, her hand resting gently on Itsuki’s stiff shoulder.
”Your captain puts a lot of trust in you, miss Izumi, so I will do the same.”
Signy’s eyes followed Junko’s as she turned her gaze toward Uzu. A chill ran down her spine as Junko spoke with a flat affect. She could tell Junko was as put off by the notion of someone unrelated being present as she had been.
You should at least explain why he’s here, whether you want him to be or not.
Signy fidgeted a bit as she mulled over what to do about this. Turning her attention back to Junko, she smiled at her, albeit a slightly strained smile.
”His lieutenant ordered him to report the findings back to him, an unfortunate condition of my own lieutenant and myself being let back through the gate. I’ve already asked that he stay at the back of the room, and you are more than welcome to look over whatever he deems important enough to jot down before he leaves. I’m sure Captain Yugure is smart enough to know that a matter such as this requires at least some discretion. However, if you wish for him to remain outside of the room, you have final say, this is your division and you are the overseeing physician, ma’am.”

Making their way to the room, nurses hurriedly passed them to busier locations. She made a b-line for the room, inbound for its location as it wasn’t far. Emi didn’t divert her eyes, staring blankly forward as they navigated through the crowd. Eventually her rushed pace closed the distance from the front desk to the door of Shizu’s room. Quickly flipping through the book after having closed it during their brisk walk, she reconfirmed that this was indeed the right room.
“Here.. She is to be here..”
Emi said this quietly under her breath, slapping shut the book as to hurry herself more than to make a statement. Opening the door, she allowed Thandh to go in first before she entered. To her surprise, the room was empty and the bed left disorderly. Emi looked over at the man as she felt somewhat embarrassed that she led him to an empty room.
“Must have felt better.. Not sure where she went.”
Emi sputtered out all she could muster, but any disappointment on his part was warranted, and she hadn’t a clue to where she may have gone. Always keeping a smile, however, she wrote in the logbook that the woman had departed before fixing up the bed with new sheets.
”Sorry for.. Inconvenience.”

Making ways through the barracks, Jizakai eyes went left and right taking into account the facilities and their structure. Entering the building he was able to read the hurried pace of the people, working in such a frantic environment could most certainly be one for high stress and patience. Like every other division, duties were assigned and expected to be completed with efficiency minus the outward appearance of things. Face value of the fourth division, in the nearby area it looked disorganized but it had to be far from the truth. They were ruled by a respectable Captain, and those within this division too must have followed suit. It was inferred by the long-haired male, whether or not it was true did not matter much. However, they definitely needed more stylists in the department because everything was bland.
Following behind Emi, Jizakai paid attention to the corridors and noted them in case he ever needed to make his way back here. As he arrived behind her, Thandh had entered first followed by Emi to the room of th person he was looking to visit. Towering over Emi, Jizakai was able to see the room had been left disorderly and to his disappointment the woman was not where he had hoped to be. With enough time wasted, Jizakai grunted and turned away from the woman with annoyance in his tone.
"Is there no mention of Shimizu checkout or what happened here?" He inquired before holding himself back before storming off.
