100 years was a long time for anyone. Definitely including the people of the fifth squad. New faces, people coming and going, some dying and others coming and filling those slots. Ever the overall mood of the barracks felt different, mainly for one girl in particular.
If you ever had visited the fifth, you would have no doubt saw a flash of blue hair from this said girl. A few inches taller, but everything else about her was almost the same. Himari Shimizu could always be found rushing through the halls of the barracks, from going into the library to going to train. She has spent most of the 100 years trying to get out of her room, something she had always done before. Now, she probably has seen her more than once around the Gotei 13. Training, being sent here and there, that was mainly the difference of the girl.
Goodbye with the old, and in with the new.
The 100 years had been good for the girl. Himari, always being one to love the study of Kido, trained almost daily in the art. Going from a girl who only knew a few barrier spells to knowing a few destructive spells. Listening to her captain and the advice she had from others, thanks to her Zanpakto, she really only had to focus on proper kido to help her in attacks.
So now, after many years of training, she could finally say she felt confident in her skills in Kido. And proudly was able to call herself a Kido master, something she had always wanted for herself since she joined the academy.
She just hoped that, when the time had came, she would be able to show those skills and not back out with nerve.
“Hello, Himari-Chan!”
Himari would smile only slightly, bowing her head slightly at the greeting from her fellow squad mates. She was walking super fast, as if she was floating. She wasn’t much of a social girl, one of the things that hadn’t changed in the 100 year period. She had hoped that her relationships with her fellow squad members, mainly her captain and of course Arashi whom she had known the most. But, due to her own stubbornness and fees of the both of them 100 years again, she hasn’t really been the closest to either of them. She had always felt a little judged when it came to the Lieutenant, since the day they first met. And one thing she hated was being looked down upon, even though half of it was her fault.
And as far as their captain went, she still couldn’t really look the man in the eye. Still feeling like a failure in a way, she didn’t understand how he still had her in his squad to begin with. A fourth seat nonetheless. She felt like she didn’t deserve any of this, which led her to almost avoid the man. But, it was easy to avoid him. He hardly was at the barracks anyways, something that hadn’t changed in 100 years. And he had mainly been with Higen to train, along with pretty much everyone else. Himari being one of the ones left behind.
But, that didn’t stop her forming some friendships along the way. Two people she had met along the year she would consider friends, starting of course with her captain's younger brother Katsuo Oda. He pretty much was the main person who had helped her train with Hakuda, something she still was very bad at, in exchange with helping him with Kido, something she didn’t mind. Unlike his brother, Katsuo, to Himari, was a lot easier to talk to and train with. Even with him being a Lieutenant and in a different squad.
Along with her friends she would almost add Izanagi Kiyoshi to her small list. They had met a few times, first being about her captain but, later on, it slowly bloomed into a small friendship. Someone she could escape the walls of the barracks to meet. And that was enough for her.
She sighed, standing in front of the training room she had now called her second home, before pushing the door open and walking inside. She spent many mornings and nights here. Sometimes with someone, other times just her and her Zan.
If there was anything she still couldn’t believe she had, was the black and blue handled sword she now slid out to view. To her, it was beautiful. Cold as ice to the touch, a Zan only she could touch.
Kōri no ryū(Ice Dragon) was an incredible Zan that Himari still couldn’t believe it was hers. The ice dragon sword was built nicely for her. Being a long range type sword, something Himari was always thankful for. The 100 years had been nice for her and her Zan spirit as well. Himari slowly becoming one with the dragon, but she was still not the best at wielding the weapon. It was powerful. And sometimes hard to control.
Himari spend most of her time training, strengthening her spiritual energy. She needed to do this to be able to use Kori properly. The more stronger she was, the better she could use it. She needed to be strong because even though Kori had the ability to freeze almost anything in place, with where she was before, it had a very short time limit. It took a lot of energy strain to freeze anything, let alone a person, and Himari had always wanted to get better at that. So, she was here in this training room almost every day, meditating.
One thing she had promised herself that her life would be different. No, It was different.

One hundred years… a long… gruesome amount of time for Katsuo Oda. Since the Oda were no longer banished from the seireitei; in fact, their grandfather has become a member of Central 46; there hasn't been a single location within the seireitei or Division 13 Barracks for that matter, that Yuri Oda hasn't tried to kill him. It's all a part of Katsuo's training of course. Every day since the attacks in the world of the living, Katsuo hasn't had much sleep, or food for that matter… Yuri was there lurking about, waiting every moment for the young oda to let down his guard and attack. The first several weeks of his gruesome training, Katsuo didn't know if he'd survive it. Several broken bones and many many concussions later, the attacks started slowing down, but Katsuo grows paranoid expecting his uncle to appear from anywhere and everywhere to try and kill him.
Despite the constant paranoia, Katsuo has had to watch Oyama transfer divisions before him. She was the only seated member left in Division 13 besides Katsuo, and he couldn't help but feel as though asking her to go to the world of the living on her own was the final straw, and she left as a result. Was it the wrong call? Was it something he did to her? These things lingered in the back of his mind for 100 years, but despite that he still was a true friend, he wished her luck, and as awkward as it was tried to give her a hug as she left. He thought of Oyama as a little sister, and occasionally made plans to visit the second division to check on her. She and Furia seemed to be thriving, which made him happy for her.
When Tenzen was training his Squad, or had time to, Katsuo would visit and join in; Mostly to help Tenzen's seated member, Himari Shimi. Katsuo when training in the seireitei, would bring all that he learned to the members of his division after a while, and teach them everything he's learned from others, to help make them stronger too. Over time, he began to grow feelings for Himari. He'd stop by flower shops or sweets shops and give her some gifts and positive words to boost her confidence and motivation. He knows his brother can be scary to talk to, but you must take that first step with Ten, and say what's on your mind regardless… Despite his power he is pretty shy, and won't talk to you unless you commit.
Today, Katsuo has made his way from Division 13 barracks, to central Seireitei to enter into Division 5 barracks and see how Himari and everyone else was doing, and possibly train Himari up a bit. He approached the Division Gate guards as he normally did.
"Hey Guys, how's it going? Lieutenant Oda of Division Thirteen, Just coming in to Visit, probably train with Himari-san if it's alright. I brought snacks!"
He said, offering 5th Barracks some pork buns. They would be used to Katsuo coming in by now, though still Katsuo remained on his toes in case Yuri Oda was following him, or something unusual came up. He kept his Dishenriki or soul phone with him at all times in case he needed to go to the world of the living, or was called into Karakura for whatever reason.
After getting into the barracks, Katsuo spots Himari where she usually is to begin her day, in the training hall, meditating. He smiles, and jumps up catching the ceiling banister then rolls his legs up to dangle from it, in front of her face. He kept his expressionless face.
"HIMARI!"
He was such a stinker to her, as he laughed after screaming her name he back flipped up and sat on the wooden beam above her, waiting for her reaction if she had one at all. He didn't see the other members of Division five around yet.

Breathe in, Breathe out.
Himari was at peace, her mind drifting into her zan’s spiritual world where she always liked to be. It was rocky, cold, and Kori’s spiritual appearance was always nice. Unlike most forms, her zan took the spiritual form of a ice dragon. Even though it was a dragon, it was usually calm with Himari. Giving her peace and advice in the time of aid.
During the 100 years, she mainly focused on ways to better use Kori. Being able to stop things in action was pretty great, but if she didn’t know how to use any other combat skills it wouldn’t work. So she mostly studied different ways to help her in combat, mainly Kido spells that would keep an opponent in place.
But, okay wasn’t going to be a usual day of mediating and alone time, she felt a familiar presence of Spiritual pressure in the room, but she didn’t open her eyes. She wasn’t going to give him any attention. She had to focus. But, as she calmed her her breathing, a shout echoed the otherwise silent room.
”HIMARI!”
She wasn’t surprised that the youngest brother of her Captain had made an appearance. She was a little shocked that he knew where she was, but she pushed it aside, thinking that maybe someone had pointed him in the direction of where she would be. But, the scream still bounced in her ears, causing her hands to shake. She really hates loud noises.
She slowly opened her mismatched eyes to have them land to the blue ones that were right in front of her. The Lieutenant was hanging upside down, grinning widely at her. Not a care in the world.
Not a care that he had messed up her mediation time.
Her stare turned into a glare quickly.

In one swift movement, her pretzel style crossed legs untied themselves, and with as much force as she could give, she would kick the blond straight in the face, way before he had any idea what she was about to do. She quickly got up, still glaring at him.
”HAS ANYONE TOLD YOU NOT TO PISS ME OFF!” She shouted, before crossing her arms over her chest. ”You are a Lieutenant, Kats, you should know not to interrupt someone who is meditating, you jerk.”
She was angry of course, but she couldn’t help but be a little happy to see the Lieutenant. She probably saw him more than she did her own captain, and he always kept her company. He was one of the first people she had met when she had joined the squad so she felt comfortable with him. Which was a rare sight to see with anyone really.

There they were. Those big beautiful mismatched eyes he enjoyed scowling at him. The red one reminded him of a ruby, brilliant and shining, a hint of fire within it, still caged and not quite released. The clear one reminded him of the morning fog, hiding the secrets of battle, what beauty and destruction might lurk below the surface?
"Haha I thought you knew by now I live to piss the people I care about off…"
He turned and jumped off the wooden beams and looked around. Everyone else must be busy, or still training if they were at all. Still, he remained on guard, something he did now, thanks to Yuri.
"SO! How are your Zanjutsu skills coming? You wanna go have a session out in the yard before I get called to the world of the living again? Oh.. Also Himari, have you talked to Tenzen yet, or are you still afraid?"
He said that with a sigh. A lot of people feel fearful about going up to Tenzen and talk to him… at first he does seem a bit scary but once they got to know him… well he was still scary. You throw hands with him once or twice you start to get to know Oda clan members. Himari was slowly getting there… she hadn't exactly thrown hands with Katsuo since he was going easy compared to his uncle Yuri, when it came to training. He wondered if he should try a more effective method in helping her… would she forgive him after? He shook his head about that thought, the thought of fighting her like he was trying to kill her. She wouldn't understand since she wasn't an oda… back to square one with the continuation of normal training. As he walked towards the training yard, he speaks to her.
"y'know, Himari… if you ask Tenzen to train with you, I'm sure he'll do it, combat is one of his most favorite things in the world… despite what you might think. It might not be training like mine, where I show you some cool techniques and you practice em, but you'll learn something from him i'm sure… all for your survival out there. I mean same for your other Division members, all you gotta do is ask em."
He was trying to be sympathetic to her, knowing how shy she is. It was hard at first for Katsuo to even get to be friends with her. Hell, it was hard for him to get Tenzen to accept him, a street rat from southeast Rukon, as his brother, but Katsuo managed it. Tenzen was shy like her once too. He figured his crazy, more outgoing personality is what pushed Tenzen to be better, why couldn't he try to do the same for Himari?
"Let's try a few Zanpakuto attacks, aight? I'll stand over here, and you here alright?
It couldn't be too difficult for her, at least he hoped. He moved over to the opposite end of the yard and began moving in a rapid back and forth motion on his feet, this was Katsuo's dance hakuda method; a technique Katsuo uses during combat to stay active and moving, which is a part of his strategy in combat.
"c'mon Himari, let's get started."
He said, removing his twin blades from their sheaths at his sides, he twirled them around and awaited Himari's move. Perhaps he could step it up a notch today, at least he hoped.
