Fuyuko left the shinigami behind, he’d be fine...she had far more pressing matters to attend to at the moment. She had fulfilled the parameters of her mission. True the man was still injured, but his wounds as painful as they were, would not be life threatening. She gave the male a final glance as he gathered himself and walked off. Fuyuko smiled, happy she managed to bring him back safely...despite the uncertainty that lingered in the atmosphere.
Patting her cheeks, the Lieutenant hurried back towards her Division’s barracks, she needed to check on Taichou and the others. As she rushed through the seireitei, fatigue began to plague her body. She was tired, her stamina low. She had released her bankai in the land of the living with her reiryoku suppressed due to the seal. Had she overdone it? Perhaps, but she couldn’t take chances, not with another’s life at stake. She willed her body forward, now was not the time for hesitation or weakness.
”I really hate fighting…” She muttered to herself. Despite being not only a shinigami, but a Vice-Captain as well, Fuyuko abhorred the thought of violence or actively bringing harm to another. Combat never sat well with her, she preferred a more diplomatic approach as opposed to violence. Sadly, words meant little to a Hollow. Despite her own ideals, she was repeatedly forced to shelve and set aside her convictions to fulfill her duty. That is what it meant to be a Shinigami.
She finally managed to reach the grounds of her Division, taken slightly aback at the victims of Head Lieutenant’s vines. She panted, faint of breath from opting to run rather employ the use of shunpo. She steadied herself, and her breathing as her eyes scanned the perimeter. She searched for any signs of an enemy or active threat before continuing. ”Hello? Is anyone here?” She called out, announcing her presence. She had given away her position, if an enemy was lingering hidden somewhere, she’d face the consequences of her actions.
Her feet carried her further into the grounds, before her journey led her into the Division’s barracks. She began checking each room she passed, an act that caused her to inadvertently catch sight of a young male changing clothes. LIEUTENANT?!” The male cried out trying to cover himself, Fuyuko shutting the sliding door far quicker than she had opened it. She mumbled a quiet apology through the door. As she continued to patrol and search the area she began to have doubts. The next door opened revealed young Shizuka fast asleep. She sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose. Was she perhaps losing it? What was going on...if anything? She was relieved that everyone appeared relatively safe and unharmed, then became notably peeved watching the slumbering male, peacefully sleeping away while she was out busting her bottom working.
”Oh Shizuka-kun.” She called out sweetly. ”IF YOU DO NOT GET UP IN THE NEXT TEN SECONDS, IM TAKING AWAY YOUR FUTON AND MAKING YOU RUN AROUND THE ENTIRE SEIREITEI!”
From accidentally catching sight of someone changing to now seeing someone else sleeping peacefully away, her mood was less than warm at the moment. Afterall, she was exhausted from having used her bankai not too long ago, if anyone deserved some proper rest it was her right?!

--- Traveling from Northwest to Southwest ---
Breaking the plane that separated the pie-like quadrants of the Seiritei, the mighty captain traveled with purpose and vigor. The “Dad of the Seireitei” he was often called, not simply because of his age but more or less his tendencies to care unconditionally about its inhabitants. For once, he’d have to focus on his own people. He had yet heard from Yakimono in Naruki City, was unsure of Fuyuko was safe and unharmed, Goro was still off on hiatus and Shizuka was nowhere to be found the entire day; It was as if the entirety of his division was either caught up in all this chaos or missing completely. He wouldn’t stop until he verified the livelihood of every one of them. It was this same passion that acted as a driving force in his promotion to Captaincy, despite his own wishes. He couldn’t help it, others were far more important than himself. This undeniable selflessness had become foreign in recent years, the Seireitei reforming under Shobatsu’s reign, growing closer and closer to its days of old.
The tail of his coat caught wind, drifting behind him like a cape as he bounced effortlessly from rooftop to rooftop, his large frame dislodging many shingles from the sloped ceilings, causing them to fall and crash into the ground beneath. The sky seemed to rest in the scope of an amethyst lens, shades of purple from flickering cinders painting the clouds periwinkle as a flaming rain fell from above to cast all things dry ablaze. His mind went to outer reaches of the wall, wondering If a team has been dispatched to aid in its defense. Not only was the interior of the Seireitei in shambles, but they were also left vulnerable from all directions. Those who lurked in the shadows would surely surface in such an opportune moment, striking at the Gotei’s inhabitants while they fought amongst themselves.
Problematic?- Yes, but he couldn’t concern himself with such things now without making sure those closest to him were secure. Regrouping was necessary, maybe he’d even find Young Maho again. Each stride was long before he came about the massive Tenth Division grounds once more. It was mostly separated into four parts. Near the entrance was the grounds for training, and all the tools necessary for it. Forking to its left would give you the barracks or sleeping quarters of every Shinigami in Higen’s regime. Forking right, however, would send you toward the office spaces, shallow buildings where most of the paperwork and “boring” stuff was done; stuff he often dumped on Lieutenant Kasumi. Continuing straight would lead to the main courtyard of the division that could access all other areas rather easily while also housing the Tenth Division’s personal Senkaimon. He chose to sway left. This was not due to chance or intuition, but instead was a product of both his Lieutenant and Third Seat’s presence entering his field of sensory, both in the barracks area.
He took one stride, propelling him forward a great distance, his breath steady and controlled as he attempted to focus on the duo’s exact location. The second stride was all he needed, placing him directly over the roof above Shizuka’s resting place. The Captain contorted his body, lunging upward and flailing his legs behind him. His left hand went to support his right wrist as he pulled it to his shoulder, his elbow pointed downward toward the roof.
SHIIIIIIZUUUUKAAAA!!!!! YOU SLEEP AT A TIME LIKE THIS??????!!!!!
This degree of scream could possibly be heard for miles, and in the same instance, he let all his weight fall downward, his elbow crashing through the ceiling above Shizuka, pieces of concrete raining down onto his small cot as the divine elbow came through to strike at his diaphragm. Higen knew that if he hadn’t understood his own strength he could absolutely kill the boy, but he was well reserved in his strike. The entire room would succumb to the cloud of dust that followed the creation of the hole in the building. Lieutenant Kasumi would bear witness to something she had seen a lot of up to this point, the two sometimes immature Shinigami butting heads due to Shizuka’s laziness.

A festival was taking place, parades within the streets of the Rukongai and all across the Seireitei were lit up to celebrate a momentous occasion. Fireworks were lighting up the night sky and men, women, children, and Shinigami alike were out and about dancing within the festive mood of the night sky. It was the Gotei 13's official disbandment day, no more work had to be done, everyone was free to live their own life, and from now on Shizuka had no more responsibilities. Shizuka, who was dressed in a suit attire typically worn in the business districts in the West, was accepting a award tonight. He didn't know what award it was, but it had to be important enough for him to be receiving the award in the FORMER Captain's meeting room. Fully dressed in his obsidian black suit, complimented in a pearl white undershirt, black tie, and black pants, he made his way into the building with reckless abandon in one of the happiest moods of his life. As he entered the room, it was packed with many Former Shinigami in the room dressed in their casual attire. He side-eyed his former Captain, Higen Kagayaki who he sees was shedding a tear, but with a smile on his face. Shizuka could not help but shed a tear in response, but did not know the reasoning for it. All he knew that he was in a happy mood, and there was a red carpet trailing to a podium where he had assumed that was for him to go to. He walked on this carpet, and as he did the people within the room began cheering him on. He waved over to both side eyes widened and his spirit enlightened, and as he glanced his head over once more to the podium there he saw his former superior Fuyuko Kasumi. She held the golden plated award while dressed in sparkling outfit, a dark blue diamond encrusted dress that genuinely complimented her hair which was tied up into unique style. Shizuka then stepped up to the podium right next to Fuyuko, she looked stunning which was in a way odd for Shizuka for he never saw her in that light until today. She then brought up the award she was holding and it glistened brightly as she handed it towards him. As Shizuka then touched the award, he looked into Fuyuko's iridescent purple hued irises and leaned in as she looked like she wanted to tell him something. She leaned closer to his ear and began to speak and said...
”IF YOU DO NOT GET UP IN THE NEXT TEN SECONDS, I'M TAKING AWAY YOUR FUTON AND MAKING YOU RUN AROUND THE ENTIRE SEIREITEI!"
Shizuka immediately lifted his upper body from his bed in a heavy gasp, eyes widened by the sudden threat issued by Lieutenant Kasami. Before even talking he looked down at his attire and instantly realized that he was simply in a dream, and that none of the happiness he felt was true. This was the second time he was awakened from his nap today and Shizuka felt an overwhelming storm of sadness come by him and he wailed to Lieutenant Kasumi
"You couldn't have waited at least one more second! Baka Baka!"
Fake tears rolling down his eyes to sell his sudden sadness, but as he was going to continue bickering he subconsciously sensed once more that her reiatsu was dimmed, rather she was in a near exhausted state. He would immediately interject any notion of continued argument and begin to ask her in a more serious tone
"I noticed a while back from when I sensed your presence as you re-entered the Seireitei that you were a little exhausted. What the hell did you fight while you were out?"
In merely moments after he asked his superior this question, he heard a loud and dominant roar from outside. The moment he heard the word "Shizuka" utter from the Herculean bellow from outside the barracks, his heart immediately dropped and froze him.
"Taichou..."
When he came to this realization it was too late for in that instance he was faced with a shining and glistening elbow from the now broken roof his living quarters, instantly shredding through his bed upon the impact of Shizuka's abdomen. This would then lead to the devastation of his entire living quarters as the debris shattered and broke apart from all directions leaving nothing but utter chaos to the room purely from the shockwave generated from his Captain’s brute force. Shizuka was a resilient soldier, but not resilient enough to take a blow from his Captain unguarded. As the dust cleared there was only a image of Higen Kagayaki's elbow delved deep into Shizuka's stomach, with the latter being unconscious along with his soul fleeting from his body.

Fuyuko stared at the slumbering Shizuka, her eyebrows still knitted in annoyance. Her voice and very genuine threat served as proper medicine to stir the slumbering third seat from his rest. He rose up, gasping for breath as if he’d just been under, chest heaving as the young male breathed in breath anew.
"You couldn't have waited at least one more second! Baka Baka!"
He wailed, face drooped into a frown as the boy shed his crocodile tears. The Vice Captain scoffed at the male’s performance. From his dramatic stirring to now this little charade, Shizuka was never short of antics. Ever the drama queen. Prepared to give a full retort and reprimand him once more, not only for sleeping but for having the gall to call her of all people a “Baka” as well, she found herself cut off.
"I noticed a while back from when I sensed your presence as you re-entered the Seireitei that you were a little exhausted. What the hell did you fight while you were out?"
She paused, opening her mouth to speak, before closing it once more. Her mind drifted back to the bloody scene of Third Seat Arashi Suta’s impaled form, and the horrific visage of the Hollow that had dealt him such a horrid hand. Truth be told, even she wasn’t entirely sure what it was she had faced. One truth she did know, was that anything strong enough to harm a Third seat to such a degree, and one who was capable of bankai no less, was a serious threat and not one she could afford to take lightly. In her haste to rescue him and ensure the Hollow’s fall, she needed to use her own Bankai. Did she overplay her hand? Perhaps, some might think so...but, a bit of fatigue was a small price to pay in exchange for ensuring the life of a comrade.
”I-”
She began, hesitating to speak her thoughts, her doubts and concerns. Thoughts that were mere toppings to the mountain of more thoughts regarding the situation transpiring in the Seireitei. A terrible weight shock the entire barracks, a pressure all too familiar, and all too frightening causing her body to stiffen. ’Soutaichou…’ Thoughts uttered only in her mind. She turned her head and eyes skyward. And then she felt it, another overbearing force.
SHIIIIIIZUUUUKAAAA!!!!! YOU SLEEP AT A TIME LIKE THIS??????!!!!!
The mountainous roar of her Captain as he came bearing down on young Shizuka, the ceiling left in shambles, a gaping hole in its wake. Her eyes widened at the scene before her, the Captain’s elbow heavily lodged deep into Shizuka’s gut as the third seat’s eyes went white and he foamed at the mouth. Her hands found themselves covering her mouth, open agape.
”BAAAAAAKAAAAAAA!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IF YOU KILL SHIZUKA?! SHIZUKA? SHIZUKA WAKE UP!”
She spoke frantically, rushing to the young boy’s side, kicking at her Captain at the same time to force the giant lug away. A pointless attempt, given the difference in size and strength, she was like a child kicking at the base of a mountain. She grabbed the top of his shihakusho as she began shaking frantically, trying to rouse the young man back to consciousness. Just another day in the Tenth Division barracks.

Debris fell through the gaping hole brought into existence by his famous gleaming elbow. The idiot that he was forced to refer to as his third seat deserved it after all, resting at a time like this. No sense of concern or urgency, just blatant laziness with a pinch of selfish tendencies. Many-a-crack were heard in the small room. One from the breaking ceiling, another from Shizuka’s back, a few more from his splintered cot and the crevassed wooden floor beneath. Using Shizuka’s lifeless body as a crutch the Captain rose back onto his feet, seemingly expressing no concern or disdain regarding the boy’s livelihood. His eyes closed with a sense of accomplishment, a small smirk overcoming the entirety of his expression as he dusted off his hands reminiscent of someone finishing a hard day’s work.
”BAAAAAAKAAAAAAA!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IF YOU KILL SHIZUKA?! SHIZUKA? SHIZUKA WAKE UP”
He had all but forgotten about his lieutenant, who would’ve been caught in the crossfire if she had been just a few feet closer to her subordinate. His eyes opened at the small inkling he received from the ant bites that were Fuyuko’s kicks, scratching at the hairs of his legs at best.
Hm? Gah.. He’ll be fine! In fact…
The statuesque man paused for a moment, clawing at his beard before walking to a nearby closet, reaching inside to grab a massive broom. He clutched it for a moment, holding it as if it was the dearest thing in the world to him, and then tossed it next to Shizuka’s soulless corpse.
NOW CLEAN IT ALL UP!
He wasn’t even sure if he could be heard, yet the order escaped his lips regardless. He huffed, thick clouds of air flowing frodm his nose in frustration. He wasn’t sure exactly what all happened in Karakura, but it couldn’t have been good. In Higen’s own mind, it was Shizuka’s fault anyways. Maybe if he was around he would’ve got sent instead, someone more likely to destroy a high value target with ease when pressed. The Captain was not a fan of sending his lieutenant into the dangers of the field, despite her capabilities to defend herself. She seemed fine, unscathed even, but there was a shakiness about her, as if the mission itself was off-putting.
Fuyuko-Chan.. how are you feeling? Whenever possible, I need to know everything.
He was concerned for her and the information simultaneously, expressing an endearing and empathetic nature towards her while she did so with Shizuka. All-in-all, he was grateful to have the two of them here, safe… kinda.
