Yosuke felt it...he had no clue where or how the pain came, but it suddenly washed over him deep within his abdominal region. For a moment everything was stagnant a mouthful of blood coughing up form the recesses of his throat and onto the ground. He felt himself become airborne just as soon as the pain and hit him. He didn't understand any of it. How, When, Where did he get hit from. As he flew through the air he tried to keep his eyes on Jinno, desperately gripping hold of his zanpakuto in his right hand and sheath in his left. It all happened so fast he couldn't process it completely. One moment Jinno was there I within his eyesight as Yosuke was hurled into the air, and the next he was gone. Shunpo...Yosuke realized it just before felt and large and powerful blunt force attack to the back of his head. Suddenly he was no longer being shot into the air but was now being forced down hurling towards the spot Jinno previously was.
"Damn it!" Those were the only words Yosuke could manage he was shocked and disoriented from the two hit combo Jinno had just unleashed on him. As his body crashed into the ground with a thunderous boom, a large plume of dust and smoke filled the area around him from the force of his crash. Suddenly everything went black for a moment. A starry night sky, trees, and snowflakes gently falling down as they kissed upon Yosukes cheek. He had been here before yes, it was the inner world of his zanpakuto, Kōri no kesshō (氷の結晶, Ice Crystal).
Yosuke realized he was laying down in the snow in the middle of the Tsumetai mori: (冷たい森, The Cold Forest), the name of his zanpakutos inner world. He sat up groggy and discombobulated. He turned his head left to right as he felt a
WHACK upon his head. He instantly shot up and turned around to see his zanpakuto spirit, Kōri as she goes by, standing that flailing her arms around like a child screaming at him.
"BAKA BAKA BAKA!!!! How do you expect to get stronger if you don't ever use me! You already stated that he is far stronger than you and I've been trying to talk to you this whole time you BAKA!!!!!" She was clearly upset and was throwing a bigger tantrum than usual. Normally whenever she did this it was for one of two reasons. Firstly she was trying to joke and chide a reaction out of Yosuke, or Secondly, she was upset and angry at Yosuke while at the same time being concerned for him.
"Sorry Kōri, I know you put a lot of faith into me and I'm sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you, I was just in the heat of the moment and well I can't rightly explain what was going on." Yosuke smiled at her and wanted to make it up to her to his surprise he got a snowball thrown right into his face with more of her enraged words spewing forth straight into his face.
"You're such a moron sometimes! If you can't even begin to understand that I am your zanpakuto we are a team and that you should use me in tough situations like this then why do I even appear before you? YOU'RE SUCH A BAKA!"
Yosuke laughed lightly and walked towards her. He rested his hand atop her ear and gently played with her kitsune ears as he leaned down whispering to her.
"I apologize Kōri, shall we fight together oh you who knows my heart, keeper of my soul." With such affectionate words Kōri couldn't help but blush just a little bit before smacking his hands off the top of her head acting as if nothing had transpired
You're still a moron! F...Fine let's show this old geezer what we're made of, and tell him he smells like smoke too much sheesh doesn't he take a bath!?" The last image that he recalled in the inner world was himself laughing and Kōri scowling at him red in the face more than likely flushed with embarrassment at his words.
Suddenly Yosuke was back in the underground training facility, he could hear Jinnos words
"You have no chance here, Am I wasting my time?" Yosuke had forgotten to use his most powerful ability, to fight side by side with his partner in crime. Yosuke stood slowly as he stared towards Jinno as he approached him. He watched motionless as the man came closer each step he made bringing the assurance of death that was to follow him. Was Yosuke scared of death? Was he scared of Jinno? Or was he simply scared at his own weakness, not being strong enough to fight the toughest of battles? He realized it was these situations that molded Shinigami and made them a cut above the rest. Those few that accepted the challenge and came into arms wide opened and succeeded became some of the strongest Shinigami in history. That was a title Yosuke wanted for himself, and for Kōri.
His mind made up Yosuke took one step towards Jinno, his resolve found. His eyes burning with passion and power. His demeanor changed no longer was he frightened a timid little jackrabbit. Now he would stand and fight win or lose he would put everything he has into this battle. Yosuke wielded his blade in front of his face, the flat end facing towards him, rotating his zanpakuto 90 degrees to where the bladed edges were facing towards and away from him. His body began to glow a white hue similar as before when they both released their spiritual pressure earlier on. This time it was far more potent, still not as vast and powerful as Jinno's his was nothing to sneer at either. His spiritual pressure came crashing down like a river upon the rocks. The very ground nearby trembling here and there from the power of his reiatsu. Snowflakes danced around him glinting in the light as the low creeping fog returned. The temperature began to drop several degrees as Yosuke never took his eyes off of Jinnosuke.
"I'll be the one to decide if you're wasting your time Jinno"
Yosuke grunted as he released even more spiritual pressure, the ground beneath his feet starting to form small cracks and splinter not large wide crevices as others may be able to create from releasing their spiritual pressure, but still, it was obvious Yosuke was taking this fight incredibly serious now.
"I hope you're ready Jinno, don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you can handle this. He continued to release his spiritual pressure letting it attain new heights as the temperature became a bone-chilling cold, soon their very breaths began to form clouds form the condensation from water particles in the air and heat from their breath. One phrase resounded from Yosukes mouth, it was clear, commanding, and presented power. One phrase and his tables in this fight seemed to have turned.
"Turn All Into a Tundra! Kōri no kesshō!"
Shikai Theme
Upon the release of his zanpakuto into it's Shikai state a tremendous wave of cold came over the area. Soon snowflakes began to fall from the sky seemingly from nowhere despite the fact that they were underground. The snowflakes continued and for each one that fell and landed upon Jinno and Yosuke's body, four more seemed to be conjured up from this. Soon what was light snowfall would turn into a maelstrom of snow, a blizzard of endless white. Each passing moment the temperature would continue to drop and more snow would allocate all around them. All of these aspects empowering and strengthening Yosuke granting him more versatility with his techniques. Now that his Zanpakuto had been released he had no constraints, no reason to hold back, no reason to conserve his strength. Yosuke could be unleashed.
He stayed precisely where he was his eyes on Jinno his left hand securing his scabbard back into his waistband before his left fingers twitched abit. An odd movement to be sure perhaps they were stretching from gripping the scabbard for so long? or perhaps they were simply stretching and adjusting to the cold? Yosuke watched as suddenly three tendrils of snow, highly compacted giving it far more durability than one might think, all attacked Jinno. Each tendril, not as powerful as a wave of snow that Yosuke could generate but still powerful enough to cause bruising and bone fractures. Each tendril swirled and swiveled with grace as they were designed for. The compact size of these tendrils allowed for them to move at great speeds with increase nimbility than compared to a crushing avalanche styled wave. The tendrils would swirl around Jinno before attacking him from three sides simultaneously, The left, right, and from behind. The tendril attack from the left was aiming for Jinnos left hand, hoping to injure his dominant hand in some way. The tendril attacking from the right would aim to smash into Jinnos right elbow decreasing its effectiveness and its range of motion. the Tendril attacking from behind would seek to hit Jinno in the lower back wanting to injure his core and aid in destroying his center of balance.
If any of these attacks connected Jinno would find that they had much more force behind them than anyone would expect form snow. Causing moderate bruising to not only the skin but also to tissue, tendons, ligaments, etc. and perhaps even bone fractures as well. Yosuke stood and watched as he began the first steps of his assault with his Shikai. A force to be reckoned with he thought to himself
"Let us see how Jinno enjoys the bite of the bitter cold!"
