"Yasu, cease this! I went to go find you on more civil conditions but instead hit a dead end with your Lieutenant. Now is not the time for this!"
Eventually, she manages to stop after growing bored of poking at the taller shinigami, proud to be able to still get under his skin. Soon after, her attention falls to the ground below. Yasu feels the rush of air sweeping beneath her feet and she looks down, seeing the dust and scraps of paper slipping in between her legs and rushing past behind her. And if not for the wind, then the sound of two cannons setting off and letting confetti fly above their heads would surely get the attraction of participants and of the watchers. From the mess made, the Captain-Commander arrives, his voice booming as he asks--
“WHO’S READY FOR THE KENPACHI GAMES!??”
He garners the sound of thunder from the audience as they answer the Commander in gusto. Yasu clicks her tongue, comically turning her nose up as Higen went about the contents of the games and just how the following ten participants would be separated. If she hadn’t chosen to participate at the end, they could have had three even groups, but what kind of person would she be if she didn’t exist to tip the odds? She looked towards each named participant as they became separated into their groups while she and three others would end up facing one another.
She manages to quickly scan over Hiroka, Omoni, and Shinotori. She had somewhat of a collective instance on what Hiroka was capable of in the hand-to-hand department, and the same went for Omoni. It was the least that she could have done in preparation for the games when it came to using her best-suited combat against her opponents. The only entity she didn’t have much on was Shinotori, but that was due to his unspoken application. To be completely fair, she hadn’t known he’d existed, even during her time in the Second Division, but it was perhaps after she’d left that he’d been admitted there. It was an unsightly match-up, and perhaps she was at a disadvantage here…
Yet the same could be said for her opponents.
Omoni lights two cigars and Yasu tilts her head slightly, using any memory of them crossing paths to remember the significance of these, especially if she were using two. Regardless of whether she remembered or not, those would have to go. Omoni Hageshi had a small memory bank, managing to recall names and faces just barely, even of those closest to her, but her combat prowess was impeccable. Yasu would have more than enough trouble going head-to-head with her, especially with the knowledge allotted to her from personal experience and the reports taken down from prior missions, such as the Togabito incident. A monstrous of a woman, and perhaps what will be the biggest obstacle in this group.
Hiroka Ikari was also a pest, but a hothead all the same unless he managed to grow from that mindset after all of these years. He had quite the stamina build, one that could possibly outlast her if she wasn’t careful. The poking and prodding were for more than just annoying him. Clearly, his body had changed after all of these years, and after not having seen him for so long, this was as close as she could have probably gotten to observing him much closer than anyone could have in a tournament such as this. Whatever this wrap was that covered his torso would be much more annoying than she could ever be if she was careless.
Shinotori Hitsugaya… She had nothing.
Her attention wavers and then fall back on the Commander as he gives his final parting words to the fighters.
“I wish you all the best of luck, but there can only be one Kenpachi!”
She didn't know whether it was plain luck that she had managed to stay in the Rukongai, but regardless of that, the show would go on as she adjusted the microphone that stick to her skin-tight top, hidden from sight, but by gods would the people get a show that they wanted. Yasu would still play the role of commentator, even in the midst of battle. Before parting, she had gotten one of her subordinates to send messages to both Shusuke and Kazumi. Shusuke would leave Uzu to the betting pool and manage coverage from the Rukongai to give his commentary play-by-plays with Group Two that consisted of Mukuro - Oda - Kusotare, and Kazumi would cover Group One that held Oki - Ueki - Nakamoto. She would manage her own fight, even to her opponents' chagrin.
"Here we go..."
Beneath their feet and around them are walls of wind that hinder their sight from those standing outside of it as each team gets separated and transported to their respective designated areas. The four of these individuals have landed in the 78th District of the East Rukongai,
Ichirin (一輪; One Flower), a vale of an endless swamp in the furthermost reaches of the Rukongai. Each arena has been littered with The Commander’s crystals to help absorb any ambient Reiatsu, as fights of this caliber could cause the very dimensions themselves to shake and rattle. Yasu feels the cool water pool around her ankles and she feels a sudden rush through her body. Familiarity entices her as this place had been where she had first
sensed Kurosawa's presence. It seemed as though the odds were in her favor and she manages to gather the situation very quickly. This was a setting strongly suited to her abilities heavily, and if she weren't to use it to her advantage, it'd be a waste.
“LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”
"We're currently in the Eastern Rukongai's 78th District, Ichirin, and Omoni Hageshi has started off with a-- WOAH!"
Omoni is very quick to start, shouting at the top of her lungs as she released her reiatsu into the open, surrounding herself in wild, blue flames, and in tandem came the wordless release of her zanpakuto and the vicious assault to follow that sent the ground beneath them to part the waters and scatter the surrounding greenery into the air only to have that fall back to the earth. These enormous spikes dwindled her in size, and compared to the majority, she was rather small in stature. Nonetheless, she would respond accordingly after her exclamation. Hiroka had made his way to get out of the way of Namikizu's wretched spikes that barreled towards him, moving farther from the initial zone and into the air to make that domain his own. Yasu instead raced her way into the center, drawing her blade out of its sheath in a fluid motion and seemingly parrying it against these spikes with no resistance, the weapon simply disappears without a trace, handle and all with a swipe unseen under the flurry of rushing spikes.
"Tsuihō!"
As the waves of muddied waters and trees continued to come crashing down, the backlash from the amount of pressure pushing back against from surface to surface sends these droplets of water and debris flying everywhere as Yasu weaves through the chaos of both Omoni's zanpakuto and the destruction made from it. Even Hiroka's violent release does nothing to deter her movements, the heat of his release scorching the grounds, but compared to the massive district, the area of destruction is easily replaced by the surrounding bodies of water and marshes. The trees, while dwindling and some becoming incinerated, continue to provide coverage amongst the explosion, sending splinters flying everywhere. The dark muck sticks to the surface of Namikizu and its heavy spikes as it continues flailing about to create this unreachable zone, spreading the area of coverage to whatever it touches, even as large as it may be.
"Hiroka Ikari has responded with his own explosive tactics! I bet you guys can feel the heat of these attacks even from back at the Northern Gate... What a hothead."
The more these continue to fall and spread its destruction, the darker these grounds beneath them grow as Yasu does very little to attempt an immediate assault of her own during this time. More than confident that her stamina would be able to continue to avoid any form of assault coming from Namikizu, even with its massive size and speed, Yasu has taken on opponents larger than herself by multiple times, each of the gate guardians being a heavy example. After her crushing defeat during her captain's meeting, Yasu had come to the conclusion of perfecting her speed so that she could use it in tandem with her combat. Her mastery in the art of hoho is incomparable to the likes of the Fairy or the Phantom but does not diminish her own perfection to move as swiftly as she does, even with all of the restrictions on her body that she possesses daily for well over a century. The heat coming from Hiroka's attacks could be more than... bearable to say at the least. A century of taking vicious beatings from the captain-commander constantly has trained her body to take drastic amounts of damage when it comes to physical attacks, and thermal and spiritual attacks are no different after the many years of Tenzen's kido assaults during said training.
"I suppose he wasn't all talk in his interview."
The showing of power was not something Captain Yugure was attuned to. A product of the Phantom's training as well as her former second division teachings, proficiency stood above all strength, power, and skill. In order to take down her opponents, rather than having to face them head-on, she'd have to adjust accordingly by waiting for the right moment to strike. Yasu possesses a general knowledge of two out of the three of those she was facing. Hidden beneath the chaos, the captain skids across the glossy surface of the marsh, rippling the waters as her hand slips into the murky depths and drags out what is the short handle of what her zanpakuto used to be. From it, a stream of black tendrils spill from the hilt and continue spilling into the ground beneath all of their feet. In all this time, Yasu has eliminated the ground as any form of saving grace for her opponents. She continuously moves to avoid the spikes, yet stays within all of Namikizu's range as it continues to rain hell in order to get its targets out with its massive size and speed. Well aware of its caster's position high above them, soon enough, the captains would be fated to face one another during this ordeal unless the other two had something to say about it.
"These two are absolute monsters... I wonder what Hitsugaya-san has to add to the fray."
Even with her commentary, Yasu would not add any of her own doings. If people were paying attention, they'd see everything if they paid close enough attention, but misdirection was something the Ninth Division Captain was more than capable of. Throughout the entire assault, Yasu appeared to be rather laid-back enough for the amount of commentary, but even she managed to be caught off-guard by the sheer power that Omoni had managed to display with one swing. Maybe those watching would imagine Yasu to be doing anything but taking this seriously, but such was not the case. Outside of the viewers, would the other three imagine her to be playing it safe and letting them fight amongst one another? Would either come to attack her once they manage to catch wind of her tactics? Would there be an unspoken alliance from the Eleventh Division? Is there a possible underdog? All of these questions race through her head as well as the viewers, and those questions can only be answered in due time.
