“Now, now. Ten-chan, I gots to ask ‘dis lucky duck a few questions.”
Itsuki seemed to relax himself, that taunting grin of his returns and this puts Tenzen at ease. While he isn’t sighing with relief and letting his guard down this sense of ease stems from the fact that things may flow smoothly from here on out. To accommodate this feeling is an odd gesture displayed by Tenzen, well odd to the others as it would be normal from Itsuki’s point of view. The Oda chuckles, it stands on the border of being a full on laugh as he rubs the back of his hair. Upon rubbing it flakes of dried blood break off from his hair and onto his hands, this brings a sudden end to his laughter as he looks upon his hand in regret for his earlier barbaric actions. After his sudden stop in laughter The Bloodhound continues speaking.
“Ya see, when ya got a suspect ye gots ta’ interrogate ‘dem. I ain’t got no problem with ya tagging along tho’. Now tho’, I already surveyed da’ surroundin’ lands. Ain’t no signs of anything hostile ‘side from dis lil rascal.”
A head gesture directed towards his Lt. causes Tenzen to look back at him; he was clearly struggling with his Inner Hollow. Sadly the young man must struggle, this struggle will aid in his determination to conquer his inner beast. This is a journey the Lt’s captain embarked on centuries ago against his own bloodlust and desire for combat. It is why his own battle against his inner demon has made much more progress than the other two, it is why he is known as The Buddha. Although this Buddha has recently had his “tranquility” broken by the Commanders words it is allowing him to reforge himself once again which is why…
”Itsuki-kun, I got my guys holding this place together with a spell, so maybe we should withdraw from this area and talk on more… Stable ground.”
He looks to his friend and speaks casually, there is more confidence in his voice than normal with no hint of stuttering. The Bloodhound would be able to pick up on this added bit of confidence as clearly something good has happened to him recently. He makes a one eighty turn on his heel and lightly punches Arashi on the top of his head, by the time he does this the corruption on his face subsides. Tenzen grins at his Lt and looks over to the Second Division pair in the middle of their own conversation.
8df1768c445fc0ce3b35250967bff6a4.png

”Let’s make our way out of here, yeah? We aren’t sure how far down this ground has been broken or if this large scale Goyōgai can hold it all together.”
Could this change in character be due to The 7th Division Captain’s Reiatsu? Is it slowly putting Tenzen in a relaxed state of mind? Not even close, it is just how The Buddha interacts with him, he can be himself and be free from the constant restraints he has on his own violent personality. Also based on how he was talking he wanted to make all haste in getting out of the area, he still holds onto his intuition which tells him something else may happen if they linger any longer such as a second eruption. His eyes stay locked on the Captain and Lt of Second Division, waiting for them to finish speaking to one another before interrupting them. His eyes then landed upon Kiku who stayed back and seemed to be waiting on specific orders on what to do.
”Bakudō #63. Sajō Sabaku.” (鎖条鎖縛, Locking Bondage Stripes; Viz "Ethereal Binding Chain")
Ordinarily this spell takes the appearance of yellow energy that forms into thick golden ropes, however, when cast by Tenzen it takes the form of golden chains. It’s strength and the way it operates remains the same; it is merely an aesthetic choice. However, these eye catching chains are wrapped around Arashi with a singular chain leading back to Tenzen’s hand, he means to guide the Lt out of the barrier but keep him restrained as possible considering Rikujōkōrō is still active as well. Though, while active Tenzen has given the Lt. enough freedom to use his legs to walk on his own.
”You should be able to stand and move your legs for now Lt. Everything above your waist is still restricted. Once we are outside of the barrier we will be having a little chat with Itsuki-kun about what just happened to you.”
He kept his back turned to the Bloodhound as he spoke to his Lt, it was clear he was not trying to hear any sort of objection to his suggestion of leaving this now boxed in area. With a head nod signal he let Arashi know it was time to move, hopefully he didn’t object to this so they can begin moving. By this point he assumes the Second Division was finished chatting as he then spoke to them.
”Oi! Captain Mukuro! We are vacating this area, please move to the outside of this Kido structure.”
His words should have been loud enough for Eizoku to hear as he had no plan on addressing the young man directly. He then calls out for Kiku, who should be ready to respond to this call to action.
”Kiku! When this barrier comes down, and when the area is stable enough to explore I’d like for you to clean away only the debris. Rocks, dirt, etc. Any man made structures, no matter how damaged, are to remain for a more thorough investigation. Your second priority is to save any of our Division members who may be trapped beneath the rubble and are still alive. The final priority are to save any souls you deem to be innocent. If anyone tries to force you away from these priorities you are to subdue them in any way you see fit. That is all.”
His orders to Kiku are clear, he even gives them levels of priority so the young man isn’t confused on what he must do if a situation arises. He then sets his attention back onto his friend now that evacuations have been set in motion.
”I should also relay to you that a full power Hado 90 was discharged at your barracks earlier today. For now that's all the info I have on the situation, is there anyone you left behind that could potentially use a Kido of that level?”
He pauses for a moment and looks to the ground, a scowl growing across his face before he looks back to Itsuki.
”If not, we may have a murderous traitor in our midst. Let’s hope those in Sixth Division have the situation handled upon your return.”

Gazing out at the troublesome even to come over the Rukongai, Kiku would sigh behind his half mask. There was something going on no matter where he shifted his eyes. Looking around until he caught the gleam of wires coming from Itsuki. Should Kiku warn the others about this, Hmm, he pondered. It wasn't really his place and he didn't wanna give Captain Oda anymore inklings to Kiku's against the grain personality. He simply watched their backs and waited for any foul moves by the others. While first division was decisive and quick, the others from Kiku's experience are always at each others throats for one reason or another.
There was an odd tension in the air with this, only made heavier by the appearance of the Phantom. Kiku was at ease though, from his brief stint in Second Division he typically found if Kyomu could be seen, he wanted you to see him. Kiku would then look over to Captain Oda who just in time, was about to give orders.
" Kiku! 'Finally' Kiku thought, Something to do besides awkwardly stand around these others. A splash of water and his Zanpakuto was now a mop. He dashed off to start removing chunks of earth and nature that had roughly crashed with any of the buildings in the immediate area. With his Shikai active this was a breeze. Moving from one location to the other, revealing the destroyed buildings underneath. A few times they had people crying out for help, Kiku made those the priority. Where he could he alleviated further structural stress by using his own Bakudo bindings to help reinforce the buildings walls or floors to get people out. Being able to lift any pieces of building up without relying on his Shikai was a benefit of his rigorous training. This way he was able to keep any parts of the Rukongai buildings intact. Finally uncovering a large building there was a smaller hole in the ground that seemed to come from a cave under the Rukongai.
In this cave was a number of people that, beyond minor injuries, were fine and safe from the explosion earlier. Kiku leaped down into the cave with them, where a surprising number of them gasped and were frightened. Kiku looked at them puzzled until one of the older men in what seemed to be farmers clothes pointed at the ground under Kiku and in a hushed whisper " Th..The floor! It is not safe!" Suddenly the weight Kiku added could be felt under his own feet. Leaping into the air, and causing the residents to gasp again, Kiku quickly set reshi platforms under his feet to prevent his own weight from causing the floor to give out. " Calm down, don't move, I understand. " Kiku would look around in the dust filled cave, the small amount of light shinning in only made it harder to see. He sighed again. " This is going to be scary, but I have a way to save you all. "
His body immediately engulfs in a white aura. His reiatsu summoned into his hands and chest. Making sure to swell his reiryoku into a single point. Kiku would then point at the ground, yet nothing would happen. White and blue light would however, start to build around his finger.

At this point Kiku would release his reiryoku into the cave, the shock waves of it reverberating around the cave and destroying the floor out from underneath the survivors. His already aimed and primed finger however would release the Kido built up.
" Bakudō #37. Tsuriboshi (吊星, Suspending Star; Viz "Hanging Star") "
The orb of light would fly out faster than they fell. Amongst the screams of the residents, the ball would flatten, expand and shoot out six ropes. These ropes would be like spider web and stick to the sides of the cave. Catching each of the residents inside. Walking over to them on Reshi platforms, Kiku would retrieve them one by one. Explaining to them where to run to get to safety. Which would lead them all to where Captain Oda had asked everyone to be sent. Dismissing the Bakudo Kiku would finally walk up and out of the cave in the ground.
Looking around he would find no other survivors, so he would spend the remining time inside the barrier cleaning the rubble up. What was left was a desecrated and destroyed district. There was formations of rock coming up in certain places, that now had the boulder missing so it was just empty open space. Taking the end of his mop, Kiku would ring out the dirty water his Shikai had absorbed. The clean water splashing down the sword would reveal a singular katana, with the blade facing the wrong way. Sheathing the blade and giving off one final sigh, Kiku would look around for the others as he was some distance away now, He would have to make it back outside the barrier or catch up with Captain Oda to officially join their division. Regardless of his future path, Kiku left the area perfect for a team of investigators to pick apart the man made structures. No one as of yet seemed to give him trouble in doing his job, and there were a few innocent until proven guilty he had already recorded for a report. Their names and professions were listed upon Kiku rescuing them.
Taking a few minuets to compile his report into a neat stack of papers, Kiku would shove it into his haori and then shunpo off.
Aiming to meet back up with Captain Oda.

“Itai.”
She comes into contact with her captain, the only person she didn’t expect to be meeting at this forsaken place. Regardless, Yasu couldn’t help but curse. While her captain was a living ghost, it was still discouraging that she didn’t even feel him, and at such a close distance at that. Yasu steps back to look at him, blood painting across his body, and Yasu looks at herself to see if any had come from her, and unfortunately, she was not the cause of these marks.
“Taichou.”
She was concerned, but what followed next had immediately cut her off.
”What is your report Lieutenant?”
Clearly, he wanted to go straight to business. Having been so outspoken, especially around the others, Yasu would come to understand that their business was no longer their own. Unknown to her, their laundry had already been aired out during the captain’s meeting, and they -- no, her captain had a time limit to perform his duties or suffer the consequences. His lieutenant gave a glance out of her peripherals to gauge the party that stood behind them and brought her hands up and into a folded fashion before she addressed him.
“Kagewaki Hōmuru has been located, unfortunately, he is no longer with us.”
Yasu speaks with a somber tone in her voice, but her expression stays blank. She recalls coming up the horizon to see the 5th Division pull both he and Xiaolin off of the pikes they hung upon. The sunken look he possessed as he’d been tortured and emaciated for however long… It haunted Yasu to see the frames of his features so pronounced and haunting. Despite being so familiar with death, she still couldn’t stomach seeing one of her own people in such a state, yet she continued.
“Sakiko Nakama is also unaccounted for. Whether she has been captured or killed, is unknown.”
She recalls seeing Kazumi arriving during her interrogation of the man with the woven hat that had tried to rob and even kill her. The look of defeat Kazumi possessed after losing her assigned partner, Yasu could only brush her off for the time being. While she was a valued member of their division, the Gotei Thirteen suffered losses at all times. During this ordeal, their time was valuable, and it couldn’t be wasted in searching for her when they had a clear objective. After finding Kagewaki’s body, along with a still-living Xiaolin, Yasu would offer her aid to the Fifth Division more or less to find even more clues to what, or who had caused the death of her comrades and the many others that lined the blood-ridden path into the encampment.
“Kazumi Fujioka has returned back to the barracks with Kagewaki’s body, along with Xiaolin, who was still conscious before he was taken back. I am unsure of his condition, but I have my doubts that he has survived.”
b20f872641140b7dc9c352b4bf66bade.png

Taken back to the conversation regarding Kazumi’s stubbornness, Yasu could only grimace, the furrowing of her brows caused by the incoming headache that only came with the disembodied laughter of her inner hollow. Perhaps she could have been a bit more lenient, but time was of the essence. She’d hoped that her captain would have been at their barracks to get debriefed by Kazumi, but here he was, standing before her. Should she continue?
Not wanting to dawdle, she resumed.
“I joined Fifth Division to aid them in hopes of coming across new information or even the prisoners, but Asakura-Taichou--” Yasu turns to take another look at the hulking figure that loomed over Arashi before coming to face her captain again, “--was the only one within the former encampment left alive, and the bodies that surrounded him looked like none of whom we are searching for.”
Her purple orbs came to look at the blood that stained her hands and she unfurled her fingers, looking at the deep gashes that came when using the Bakudō since she didn’t have additional material at hand to replace her blood.
“I was on my way back to the inner Rukongai to gather any more information I could before I returned to report… However, the sudden events behind me had prevented me from doing so.”
A low bow of her head follows and she is regretful. Yasu feels useless, as she had been since being released, or perhaps since the alleged coup that day. The possibility could even go even further in the past. She is unsure. Her uncertainties are only confirmed with every moment she descends into a panic and the threat that lies within her only strengthens its attempts at freeing itself from its prison.
“I apologize. End report.”

Young Yasu is taken aback by the sudden appearance of her Captain, but perhaps what surprises the Lieutenant the most, is the sight of blood upon him, his blood. Having rushed to the Rukongai, foregoing any medical aid, any form of healing his wounds remain open, visibile. Though his life is in no danger, the blood still spills lightly. This is but a minor inconvenience to the Phantom, one that for now goes ignored. Understanding her Captain’s thoughts, Yasu proceeds to report as commanded.
“Kagewaki Hōmuru has been located, unfortunately, he is no longer with us.”
With the news of Kagewaki’s death, both Kyomu and Yasu’s roles have reversed, now it is the Captain who is caught off guard, taken by surprise..and not for the better. He knew Kagewaki’s strength and ability better than anyone, his death came not only as a surprise, but as a heavy blow to his own ranks. The man was a valuable asset, his loss was one that would be felt throughout the division. The Captain has no time to mourn, no time for regrets as Yasu is not done speaking.
“Sakiko Nakama is also unaccounted for. Whether she has been captured or killed, is unknown.”
The news gets progressively worse. It is a dark era for the Second Division, a shameful era. Branded as traitors, a third seat going AWOL, his absence the leading cause for the first recorded prison break from the Maggot’s Nest within the History of the Seireitei, the death of his trusted Fifth seat and now, another member of his squad has gone AWOL. Sparks of blue dance around his body in wisps, the phantom’s face remains apathetic...but his reiatsu begins to pull from the reigns of his control. His fingers curl into fists, clenching tighter, and as they clench the blood begins to pour more freely from the cuts and gashes in his arm. The blood splatters the ground, like the prelude to rain.
“Under your care, ninety six prisoners have escaped from the Nest of Maggots. Ninety Six threats to the Seireitei now run rampant throughout the Rukongai. As such, you have ninety six hours to locate and capture these souls, as well as the one who released them. Should you fail, you will be stripped of your Captaincy, and expected to serve each inmate’s sentence yourself. You report that the Rukongai Districts have radicalized against us in light of recent events. They will give these prisoners refuge in exchange for harnessing their power against the Gotei Thirteen. The Onmitsukidō’s Patrol Corps will now work in tandem with the Seventh Division to put an end to both matters. You will oversee this personally.”
The Commander’s words once more torment the Captain’s mind and spirit. The first three words echo the loudest in this moment. Under his care. It is under his care that not one but two seated officers of his squad have gone AWOL, under his care that he has lost prisoners due to the one he trusted to watch them. Under Kyomu’s care he has lost a valued member of his squad, and under his care that his Lieutenant has become a Vizard, and now struggles within herself. He has failed both his clan and the Central 46 when appointed a task, a mission to assassinate the Commander, he has failed his Division, turning them into pariah because of his actions, his mission. It feels as if Kyomu’s tenure as a Captain is one lined with failure, and if he should perish now, a failure he would be remembered as. It is a shame that burns inside him, hotter than the Commander’s flames.
eeed2509b5dce96f393b077cf88e62f7.png

“Kazumi Fujioka has returned back to the barracks with Kagewaki’s body, along with Xiaolin, who was still conscious before he was taken back. I am unsure of his condition, but I have my doubts that he has survived.”
As if seeking to not bury the young Captain completely into a pit of misery and bad news, Yasu mentions that they have located Xiaolin, the cause of much of his humiliation. Perhaps he could find some solace in that fact at least. Yasu goes on to inform him on how she cooperated with members of the Fifth Division while present, and her run in with Captain Asakura prior to the most recent events that caused him to hurry over faster than perhaps even he had intended.
“I apologize. End report.”
Was it irony, or fate — Captain Oda of the Fifth Division had offered the help of his squad, only for their two divisions to already be in the process of cooperating without their knowledge. The Commander had ordered Kyomu to work with the Seventh Division regarding the Rukongai incident, only for his Lieutenant to run into Seventh’s Captain who stands present here and now. Maybe, just maybe-
”Oi! Captain Mukuro! We are vacating this area, please move to the outside of this Kido structure.”
Captain Oda’s words barge through Kyomu’s thoughts. The Phantom turns to acknowledge his fellow Captain, before turning back to face Yasu. He uncurls his fingers, and closes his eyes for a moment. Stepping past Yasu he places the hand unsullied by blood onto her shoulder.
”Good job Yasu. Lets go.”
Releasing his hold on her shoulder, the Phantom steps from beside her, and arrives just beyond the outer reaches of the barrier. He stands in wait for not only his Lieutenant, but for Captain Oda and his squad, and more importantly, Captain Asakura. It looked as if the Buddha and the Hound had their own matters to address. He’d give them that moment to speak, but no matter what they couldn’t leave the Rukongai, not yet. There were still many matters to attend to, for Kyomu’s sake...and the sake of the Seireitei.

Arashi_NT_part_2.png

c98ffb8ee5bac369f19c48afce2d8b2e.png

Any ounce of confidence left, is slaughtered by fear. His head slumped over as if to hide, but such an emotion permeates well beyond the means and effort of hiding it. His hair falls over the front of his face, in order to compliment this act of seclusion. Casting a dense shadow over his eyes and mouth, leaving his mouth visible. There was no smile in sight, no sense of the old Arashi. As if that part of him has been ripped away from this world, only to be thrown into the wind never to be seen again. Has he lost his way? Did the turmoil of his mentality destroy the very thing that made him unique? Silence sets. Arashi finds no point in struggling to break free from the Bakudo.
The Buddhist that is his Captain, remains true to this moniker. In his efforts to keep the peace, to keep his Lieutenant Alive and in working condition physically, it would seem as though he has swayed the Bloodhound to see through his eyes. Understand that everything is indeed taken care of. Captain Oda even goes as far as to offer an explanation on Arashi’s predicament, hoping to prevent any future casualties between Shinigami… However, does he plan to speak only of Arashi’s affliction and keep himself and Lieutenant Yugure hid beneath Captain Asakura’s nose? The Bloodhound does not seem to be the man that enjoys the taste of dishonesty.
That bridge Captain Oda intends to cross. For now, he extends an act of kindness in allowing for Arashi to stand and not only that but the ability to walk.
” You should be able to stand and move your legs for now Lt. Everything above your waist is still restricted. Once we are outside of the barrier we will be having a little chat with Itsuki-kun about what just happened to you.”
His Lieutenant turned a pet, attached to a leash. Still, Arashi’s doesn’t bother to struggle. No reluctance or hesitation in his movements. He stands and he walks without a sound being made. Eerily quiet he remains. Any emotion is distant and forgotten. He dared not to speak. Walking seemed to be his only skill at the moment. One that served him well. He’d obey and act without uttering a single word.
