Regardless, the young Captain can’t help but turn his head for a moment, stealing a glance at the now unmasked Sword Eater. His expression rearranges into awe, not at the sight of witnessing its face but for the sheer fact that it was still alive… The sight of Sword Eater’s complete body causes Yū to hesitate for a second; He wrestles back the urge to go back and help but he knows he couldn’t be selfish. Who knew how dire the situation in Naruki City was? With two of the fiercest lieutenants here to hold Karakura Town down, Captain Nakamoto understands it’s best to leave the rest in their hands. The sudden booming of concurrent thunder and lightning now proves to be unable to shake his confidence in Omoni and Jinnosuke, for the unmasked Sword Eater would only be met with greater force. Hopefully, Naruki City would be in better shape and miles away is where he would get his answer.
The Captain’s glowing frame becomes nothing but a blur– a brilliant streak of piercing blue that zips over the Western Tokyo airspace. A journey that would presumably take much longer for other Shinigami is cut considerably shorter for Yū Nakamoto, arriving at the cataclysmic wasteland that was Naruki City in no time.

“There’s one here too...” he mutters, as the towering Hell Gate comes into vision amidst the thick smoke. The scene is expectedly similar to Karakura Town, if not worse. It seemed the slight relief Captain Nakamoto provided to the previous battlefield was not present here, leaving 10th Division and the Fullbringers to fend for themselves in a savage showdown against their unfamiliar enemy. Reiryoku signatures are readily sensed: the faint sensation of Tsukune’s reiryoku is most distinct … a fallen human. While the human wouldn’t be his priority, it seemed he was already receiving the help he needed as paramedics had since rushed to the scene. The Captain makes a mental note of his location as he comes upon an obstacle, hindering their approach to the assumed Togabito up ahead. A translucent wall of green energy stands before him, presumably a kidō barrier of some sort.
“A barrier...” Yū mutters once more, placing his palm against its surface. His physical form is unable to pass, yet he continues to inspect it further. Its form isn’t strong enough to keep the Kidō master at bay, but he can tell this wasn’t erected for any silly reason. While it would be easy for him to trespass and continue ahead to help against the Togabito within, upon physical contact, Yu comes to a shocking realization.
“This belongs to–!” he exclaims, before blinding light fills the translucent cube, causing Yū to shield his eyes. “It’s Captain Kagayaki!”
Without further hesitation, he turns to Shoumetsu trailing behind to inform him of their changed plans.
“There’s nothing we can do to help those inside for the time being. With Captain Kagayaki now present, that leaves us to deal with the gate first!”
… Yū commands of the white-haired Shinigami as he suddenly ascends upwards. The boy allows his form to become oddly languid, allowing him to soar toward the hell gate with haste. He flies just narrowly above the verdant barrier towards the source of the pull and just when it seems Yu is veering almost dangerously close to the point of no return, he expands his arms and wings outwards and howls...
“Bakudō #81. Dankū!”
A translucent plane many times larger than the gate itself forms directly over its entrance, instantly ceasing the incessant consuming force and the otherworldly heat from growing in intensity. Like a vacuum, the flat barrier is airtight against the gate’s opening, almost vibrating from the sheer force of the gate’s pull. Despite its physical appearance seemingly struggling, Yū shows no strain at maintaining the manifested barrier, forced to combat the dastardly pull that seems to grow with ferocity with each passing moment. Debris that had already been well on its way towards the gate now fall in the midst of their flight, colliding back downwards on the already barren roads. Confident in Higen’s ability to end his fight quickly, Yū doesn’t expect to have to hold the gate’s suction at bay for much longer... but nothing could be said for what forces decided to emerge from the portal later on.

There was no time to waste anymore with both Jinnosuke and Omoni back in action. They had to go help way in Naruki City and needed to make haste. In the moments of them leaving the area where the battlefield for Sword-Eater took place all Shoumetsu thoughts were confirmed when he picked up the reiatsu of the togabito spiking back up followed by lightning raining down on the city. Shoumetsu glanced back at the scene at hand observing how the togabito without its mask on, but the laws of hell seemed to change. Stepping on the battlefield there were already some things that raised red flags in his head with one being how did the togabito gain control of hell's gate? Now, this incident has completely confirmed that maybe somehow the prisoners have taken over their jail and now had some form of control over hells will or found a way to suppress it. Whatever the case was he left it in the hands of the two Lt, but never once wavered or thought about returning to help out no matter how much he wished to see the fight to the end.
One thing was for certain that both Yu and Shoumetsu left those two a perfect parting gift. The fact that the togabito remained without its mask meant it was open season for them to do whatever it takes to wipe its existence away from this realm. As the togabito thoughts focused on condemning Lt Omoni and Jinnosuke to their deaths by leaving, Shoumetsu thoughts were on a different spectrum. Instead of feeling bad for the togabito fate and knowing it needed to steal all these powers just to be able to contend on a close to equal level with them. Though feeling the explosive release of reiatsu from Omoni, he wondered if the togabito would even be able to entertain them. With no more time to waste and enough distance placed away from Sword-Eater, he unsheathed his zanpakuto then called out its name.
"Dance in the madness, Enshojo!"
"About time you piece of shit if you called upon me sooner he would have been dead already! I can throw a punch with my pinky that is stronger than whatever you called back there." Enshojo chimed out the moment he called her name, and as she took shikai form relectunctly allowed use of her powers.
A small look of annoyance crept on Shoumetsu face while hearing Enshojo nip pick at everything he could have done better against Sword-Eater, and how he failed by not harnessing her powers at all during the fight. He attempted to drown her out for most of the trip hastily to the other city district Naurki; he continued to move on all fours to keep up with pace along Yu. Using the magnetism of his zanpakuto powers in the fluid process he would tap the blades on the surface of the buildings he traversed across to immediately change the polarity to repel him away, launching him forward which enhanced his movement speed even further only being a small distance behind the Captain. Finally, their destination was in sight with the city destruction mimicking the very same fate that their previous location was in. The death count had to be around the thousands if not more for both incidents still these were concerns to be dealt with once the fight was over.
The death of others including that of Shin was something Shoumetsu did not let trouble or distract him. As they approached their new battlefield he looked on at a strange barrier that had encased a couple of people and where a similar feeling reiatsu signature to Sword-Eater resided. Was this the powers of this togabito or one of the people who combated against this sinner? While still trying to figure it out a bright light encompassed all inside it, while seemed like Yu already knew the answer upon hearing their change of action, and now we're tasked to deal with this eyesore of hell gate here. He followed directly behind Yu who erected a barrier to block the entrance and moved to act out his plan of action. With the entrance in its effects being blocked it gave him the perfect opportunity to test something out he couldn't on the last battlefield and dashed at both of the hell gates striking them with his zanpakuto. Magnetizing both of the gate doors knowing that Yu couldn't maintain that for long, he concentrated his magnetic pull on attracting the doors to one another trying to force them closed. Extending both zanpakuto outward to each door he used his technique Jibashi to release two streaming currents of electromagnetic energy out to attempt to close the doors as much as possible. Still, while he put his efforts into this joint task Shoumetsu continued to remain aware of his surroundings knowing not to drop his guard especially with the fight ongoing and neither knowing what they were truly up against.
"Why does he get to have all the fun?! Here I thought it was my lucky day get to fight two togabito's in one day, but I guess getting to witness the prowess of two Captains at work is just as entertaining." A small grin was seen on his face being one of the very few and rare people no matter what would find enjoyment in such an intenese battle even in the face of death.

"Yes Sir Higen-Taichou! The Hell-Spawn has two abilities! He has a near infinite number of invisible arms capable of defending, grabbing and attacking all simultaneously! Each one can be revealed momentarily though Kido or a smokescreen of any kind! Secondly! He has 2 chains on his wrist that he can control seamlessly. Capable of wrapping up any and everything it touches even for a second. Can be dealt with, with extreme force! If any of those abilities touch you they will drain you of your physical prowess! Be careful, he's encased within my technique, but he's still crafty enough to defend himself with said techniques!"
While Shizuka’s words were heard, there was little to no time to appropriately assess, and perhaps alter his current attempt at the Hell Spawn’s life. Instead, the furious captain could only ingest the information, and keep it in mind. Invisible hands, hm? Just what exactly was the catalyst of control? The degree in which they’d come? What was an indicator of their arrival and movements? Perhaps a distortion in the air, a shift of space, a change of current. Most of this would seem insignificant to most, but to a battle-trained individual such as the Shining Captain, the most minute detail was a tell—an opportunity. A century plus of training with the.. former commander had leant Higen a plethora of skills; one of which was as the ability to handle and combat what could not be seen, and sometimes what could not be felt. A multitude of skirmishes with the Omnitsukido commander only further contributed to this repertoire. A symphony of shattering glass, akin to ice breaking apart and transforming into a cold dust breaks through the audible receptors of all within the barrier.
The sound of the massive fist formed by the crystalline armament shattering as it made contact with its target would be the cause of this. Indistinguishable by those blinded by the Captain’s wrath. Just as it makes contact, and the force is applied to send the Togabito spiraling forward, so too does it break into a gang of small shards. A few of them assail the monster’s garments, and Into its flesh, while the remainder scatter about in miscellaneous directions, indiscriminate with their trajectory. Those friendly to the Captain would still be forced to avoid them, had they come their way. Anything left of the crystalline fist simply falls to the ground below, like well cooked meat from the bone. The harmonious ringing of the splitting crystal overwhelms the rattling of chains as the Togabito is sent spiraling forward, downward, and against the melted asphalt. Trails of dust and debris are kicked up as its body tumbles violently.
The beacon of light that emanated from the Captain subsides, revealing the barrier to have remained in tact, while those who remained within had all remained in their places. That was, besides Third Seat Hyouzoku— making great use of his agility to enter the senkaimon before its doors shut to quickly get Kuro the attention he needed.. if any was applicable. Missing from its former location as well was quite obviously the Togabito, mauled by Higen and sent flying a great distance. He lay still now, was he defeated?
The Captain does not let his guard down for a single second, remaining focused, attentive. His fingers twiddle and stretch in rhythmic fashion within his gauntlets, almost as if preparing to strike again. There is a restlessness to his stance, an eagerness to rid his jurisdiction of this enemy and any remnants of it immediately, mercilessly. The verdant barrier formed preemptively at his back loses its need, and is dispersed in response. The emerald walls of trinket’s barrier, however remain clear enough to notice the arrival of Captain Nakamoto, as well as Seated Officer Takahiro. They admire the talisman’s kido creation from the outside, unable to enter—just as there is no escape for the denizen of hell. If the barrier had been measured by Higen’s own kido prowess, perhaps. But it was not a product of such, instead—centuries prior to the promotion of Captain Oda, the Flawless Stone was crafted by multiple masterful minds of the Demon Arts, Able to withstand an innumerate amount of stress.
Higen looks back. The irony of the new tasks of the fourth Division seemed to have put the fairy directly into the fray far earlier than he would have liked. The fragile and timid boy, would be molded into a man by the fires of battles, and only such. From the outside, the duo do what they can to dismay the Hell Gate, albeit temporary. Despite the impression of defeat pouring over the downed Togabito, the gate remained relentless in its pull, with zero intentions on letting up. Higen had hardly paid attention to any spiritually aware humans that remained. Their presence both insignificant, and a nuisance. In truth, to him they were to blame. Such a large presence of spiritually aware souls in a single place was more than enough to make Naruki a ripe target. These products of Hollow mishaps were a burden, or say the least. They made his job more difficult, in every way, shape, and form. In the face of it all, however, the mighty Higen does not faulter, remaining boxed in a cage with a foe that had caused so much pain, destruction and turmoil. Yet there he lay, at the mercy of true strength, of power that he seemingly craved to face. Perhaps there was an inkling of regret in the Togabito’s mind, a moment of reflection even for the most damned of souls.

The Captain’s barrier stands unblemished. Its shape not unlike that of an unopened gift, in this case it is a gift of hope and security to the ruined city and those within it who have suffered grievously from the Togabito’s intrusion upon their world.
Shizuka, a man once so sure of himself, of his own strength and power after shouting out as much intel as he could to his superior, flees through the Shinigami’s Senkaimon. Dragging along his comrade turned corpse he retreats now more boy than man, weakened and uncertain of his own strength, power and ability. Though he retains ownership of his life, he is left with the knowledge that he holds it not by his own strength, but by the whim of his tormentor. With his absence the Togabito is no longer pestered by the gnat like debris seeking to further bother or constrain him. A deplorable act of weakness on Shizuka's part—a technique that was both powerless and meaningless in the face of the Togabito, not unlike Shizuka himself.
Another powerful soul soon enters into the city, left to witness the horrors it's been left to suffer at the hands of the Togabito. Its strength clearly higher than all others that have come to face the spawn from Hell, all save for the giant of the man entrapped within the emerald barrier that is. The Shinigami stares at the barrier with eyes of realization and familiarity and shifts his focus and path towards the Gates of Hell still open. Like the debris, he too is snatched by its vacuum pull, dragged closer and closer until finally -
“Bakudō #81. Dankū!”
A translucent wall is conjured between this shinigami and the gates themselves, towering over them many times over. The pull of the gates ensures that the plane manifested by the shinigami is pulled towards it, sparing the city from its ravenous vacuum. Another soul, many times weaker than this one trails shortly behind. With the kido formed wall in place this new soul is forced to maneuver around it to strike at the open doors of the gate. A trifling gimmick, as he struggles in hopes of forcing the doors closed. A combined act of desperation.
Inside the barrier’s confines, separated from the now sealed gate the temperature and air becomes more and more hospitable. The blinding light from the titan of a man diminished visibility becomes less of a trial and ordeal. The kicked up debris still hides the Togabito from view, a body that had remained otherwise motionless—but not for long. Movement can be heard as the monster that has destroyed the city and tortured those who would dare protect it rises up to his feet. The debris diffuses more and more, revealing a body less mangled than perhaps any of the spectators and the attacker himself might have expected. The massive fist of crystal having been used to strike at the Togabito meant that this mighty soul was unable to feel what it was he was truly striking. The roaming hands that had been lingering around him at the time of the mortal failure’s attack were forcefully repurposed, made to be a barricade between the Sinner and his assailant. Though they could do little in the face of such overwhelming strength, they acted as enough of a buffer to mitigate and diffuse some of the damage he would have taken, lessening the toll on his body. Some of the spectral limbs had even acted as surrogates for the crystal shards meant to pierce the Togabito’s flesh.
The chain rattles with every strained movement, his head seeming to pop and crack as it turns one way than the next before casting its focus on the now visible enemy. Finally, something worthy of being prey had arrived, finally there was an actual threat.
Step
The chain rattles as the Togabito advances, fingers flexing and clenching, emerald fragments sticking from his flesh and torn garments.
”Quite the strong one aren’t you. What took you so long?”
His words baffling. Had he been expecting Higen? Was he aware of his existence prior to this confrontation? His words come out beneath labored breaths, his breathing growing more controlled by the second. He advances again, showing no sign of hurrying. Was it out of fear, or was he simply savoring this moment, this meeting? There was still so much they did not know about this being. Their ignorance up to this point, had been in direct correlation with their powerlessness. It is their ignorance, their weakness that has allowed the Togabito to act with impunity, to be as careless and as reckless as he so desired. Perhaps now was the time that everything, ignorance and all came to an end.

There was something eerie about it all. The dust scurrying about created a brief cloud that limited all from view after the Captain’s flash of light subsided. Never completely untensed, his muscles are tightened and prepared for all continuations of his own actions. It is the brief silence accompanied by the subtle rattling of chains that reinsures what Higen had already anticipated. The life of the Togabito was not completely forfeit, yet. His hellish energy, while impure and miniscule compared to the Shining Commander, was still present in the area—as potent as ever. Higen’s right foot gears back and perches on the reishi platform beneath him. His toes in modern geta bend at the knuckle, a massive amount of pressure and weight resting upon it. From this distance, and with the dust between the Togabito and himself, noticing the little details would be next to impossible for his foe. Upon closer inspection, Higen’s body would begin to seem to vibrate, or shake—so fast until the sensation of movement vanishes altogether.
Radiating just off the surface of his skin was a green aura that was a direct product of the expulsion of his spiritual pressure. Though, this would read differently than reiatsu to the enemy. It was of a finer control, localized just over flesh, and nothing more. The Togabito takes his step forward, just that single step of advance was all the Captain needed. Hardly any preparation was required—nothing aided in his momentum besides a single powerful launch off of that pivotal back foot.
”Quite the strong one aren’t you. What took yo-”
Before the Togabito could remotely finish his sentence Higen was already upon him. It was clear that he had fallen accustom to the less prepared Shinigami and humans sent to dismay him---but he would forcefully learn that the Tenth Division Captain was a different entity entirely. The trope of the rambling, monologuing villain was tired and old. There was nothing he could say that would pique Higen’s interests. There were no taunts that could get him out of character. At this current stage of the battle, the creature’s purpose here was of little concern. What was of concern—however—was the fact that he remained conscious. As the captain appears, his body is covered in a thin layer of reiryoku as he quite literally cuts through the air. His arms are extended to his sides as they both are wrapped in spires of crystal that glow vibrantly. He twists violently, not unlike a torpedo, as from the spires shoot an innumerable amount of crystalline shards. Coupled with the spinning momentum, the Shining Commander quite literally turns the barrier’s interior into a blender for the Hell-Spawn’s flesh. To make matters worse, his body itself had been shot to directly impact the cloaked figure. The entirety of his frame was submerged in cutting force, and should the Togabito evade the spiral of sharp crystal it is Higen’s body itself that would quite easily bisect the foul foe.
Shizuka’s warning about the invisible hands comes to mind, of course, and is taken into consideration as are all things on the field of battle. Could said hands defend against a Captain-shaped sword?—hurdling towards him at speeds unprecedented? Could they defend against the monsoon of both reiryoku and shards that would undoubtedly turn the masked assailant to ribbons? Higen’s velocity quite literally transform him into a buzzsaw, one that would rend anything in its path unimpeded.
